Since I'm considering a combo set I've appreciated all the feedback in this thread - thank you all.

How are you thinking you’ll combo the MP 18’s?

That's a good question. My initial thoughts would be MMC 5 and 6 with 7 - PW in SC. Then I thought why not have the 7 in MMC as well... Still trying to figure it out.

What are you thinking?

IMHO, the SC 6i is no harder to hit than the MMC 6i. Maybe you should look at the MMC Fli Hi 5i and 6-PW in the SC.

I have the mmc 4i and 5i (bent 2* weak) and 6i-PW in SC. The gapping when bent weak to match the SC set is perfect. I probably should have gotten the SC all the way down because I didnt really want a mixed set, but when I mishit the MMC, it is so forgiving that I forget all about the mixed bag.

That's interesting, I hadn't considered that makeup yet. How long have you had your SC's?

Had them a few weeks. Torn between the SC’s sweet forged feel and the super easy playability of the P790’s. I looked at the MMC iron as a comparable to the P790 irons. When testing, I found the difference in forgiveness between the SC and the MMC to be very very small. Now I have to decide whether I want the extra distance (4-7 yrds per club) of the P790 or the feel of the SC.

First Post Alert! I bought MP18s SC 4-pw with KBS Tour Stiff to replace my MP57s. I think the difference is staggering, Not so much distance wise as i could really nail the 57s but the feel from the 18s is on another level for me. Either my swing has dramatically improved or the 18s are made of liquid metal but i find i get that lovely soft Mizuno feel like when i middled the 57s a lot more from the 18s. Obviously you know every bad shot you hit which for me is part of the appeal of a more "bladey" iron but as i say the feel of the 18s is just outrageous. Ball flight is perfect for me which i was worried about as i tend to hit the ball really high which is why i stayed with the SC in the 4 iron instead of the MMC or FLi-HI.

Just completed a multi-session outdoors fitting over two different days. This was to accommodate swing variations and conditions. The goal was to find the right mix, ball flight, and gapping. Results are for me, so your yardage may vary. I am 56 and play off 7 index.

Tried an assortment of shafts, and we found True Temper AMT to be perfect flight and landing angle.

PW - SC 45*

9 - SC 41*

8 - SC 37*

7 - SC 33*

6 - MMC 29*

5 - MMC 25*

4 - TBD - Did not like the fli-hi and MMC was the same as my Titleist T-MB so saving $150 at the moment.

Wedges (51, 56, 60) matched perfectly. I adjust the face open/close depending on the shot type, so already had a lot of versatility. I have never followed text book lofts.

Took a demo 6 and 7 iron on the course during a round yesterday and was pleased with the small amount of distance gained, but more importantly the flight. Replacing MP-59's w/ KBS tour.

Hate to get sacrilege on you guys but I'm thinking now I'm going MMC 5 -- PW

Oh no you will NOT! In all seriousness, the entire MP 18 line-up is money. Play what you like. Like what you play.

Sorry for drifting a bit here but I reckon those MMC's are a hidden gem for guys looking for a players club that isn't overly demanding in any way. A friend of mine got them after having fits with his RSI2's, he's a solid player (2 handicap) now with 2 small kids and he loves these irons, perfect for what he needs, a players club that has some help in a very aesthetically pleasing package.

First set of LH Mizuno irons that caught my eye in years. Had to buy them. Went with Modus 120S shafts. Liked them but didn't love them. For me, feel, distance and dispersion were similar to my Apex Pro 16s and Titleist combo set, but the turf interaction wasn't great for my swing (I typically take shallow divots and the SCs tended to dig for me). I also found the top line shape made them appear bulkier than my other sets. So I decided to sell them. Sweet irons for sure though and I understand the love that people have for them.

Yes, one You Tube reviewer said the MMC should be considered in the same class as the AP2’s. He said everybody from Speith to 18+ handicaps could play the MMC.

I've been playing blades for 5 years now and I've been beat up by all the marketing on technology in clubs that I think I'll finally try it out. MMC looks great by the ball and for me the feel is quite nice.

I bought 718 AP2's- after a week I hated them and fitter suggested MP18- loved them, sound, feel, looks, ball shaping, confidence etc all good.

Put in Modus 3 105 and (at the range) all is good- we'll see when my custom order arrives in 10 days but I'm excited to get them. I didnt have any excitement waiting on the AP2's.

The MP 18 line may have me buying another set of Mizuno Irons. It cracks me up how some have posted that " They hate the stock shaft so the switched to DG S300"

There is NO Stock shaft so custom order what you want.... My experience has always been 1-2 weeks tops from the time I order to my door with a few times 4-5 days!!

I personally find it annoying that most MP irons last 12 years come stock S300 and black grips. Perfect combo.

Sometimes Ordering is a PITA.

Are these really good performing clubs?

Every iron model in the MP18 family is a fantastic performing iron. They are as good as or better than almost any iron on the market today. Mizuno has a winner with these clubs!

Can’t speak to the SC’s, but I’ve been playing the MMC’s (w/Recoil 95’s) for the last month or so, and the performance and feel are amazing. So unless I live longer than expected and I happen to wear these out, they’re definitely the last set of irons I’ll ever buy...they’re that good!
