Why can’t they just sale replacement weights like they used to. The good old days

Per our trip to The Kingdom they will be selling additional weights.

I know it doesn't help you now... But the question was asked. They didn't offer additional weights with release just because of the mass confusion it could cause from Avg. Joe consumers.

You can add another weight of about 6 grams to the tracks and that should get it close to D3.

Or change out the weights in the tracks to +6 grams.

A club 1" shorter than standard should be expected to be at least 6 swingweights lower.

I weighed my M3 weights....11g a piece

My driver with tense red 50 stiff came out to like D2.9....standaed length if that helps....heavier shaft more sw....alter length than well you know

For reference my R15, sldr, R1 and M1 all were very heavy stock.....D5-D7

M2 was normal D2-D3

I know what say they are but I weigh em.....rarely do they come out what they say on their site

I would love for the M3 to be lighter than the M1, but according to most sites I have seen, it says its is a D3 or D4? Did we ever really get a definite weight for a stock m3 driver?

Guys I would love to know how much height the Taylormade m3 fairway head adds to shaft. I got a pro blue and put it in M3. The shaft measure 42 1/2 with adapter and grip on. I think it totals 43.25 but it looks like more when try to measure total club length so was curious about additional height/inches for head? I have had no tipping on pro blue and standard length on M3 is 43.25 would adding a pro blue in it mess with swingweitht of D4 or would it not matter because it’s standard and no tipping ; even though, it’s a counterbalance shaft. Thanks any help would be appreciated and I am new here and sometimes hard to follow everything.

I havent' measured that particular fairway model - but the TM fairways have typically / commonly had a BBGM of 1.25". That's what you add to the shaft length w/o any adapter to get the playing length. If the shaft length includes the adapter than subtract about 3/8" from that - so add about 7/8" instead.

I added some lead tape to my M3 w/60 tensei white stiff after i chopped it down to 44 3/4", just below the grip and it feels pretty good.

Not as light as it was without it and not too heavy with it.

still ballooning a bit, so i play it at 7.5* a bit open but it sneaks left on me when i get too happy on the tee and forget myself.

i think its around D1 (307 grams @ 44.75") but i could be wrong, swing weight balance is always tougth for me to understand.

I know counterbalanced shaft are meant to lower the swing weight but mine does not feel lighter so am still very confused.

I added a 1” strip of lead tape to my M3 driver head. Brought the SW up by 1.5 points. This will not affect playability or change COG enough to matter where you place the tape as this is a small amount of weight.
If you call TaylorMade they will send you slider weights free of charge. I called them last month and they sent me a new M1 3-wood slider weight replacement within a week.
Adding 6gm to the head will soften the shaft by 1/2 flex, as another poster pointed out. Also, I weighed 6 MCC plus4 grips last week and they weighed 56.5 grams each vs MCC standard grips which weighed 46 grams each. The MCC plus4 grips will decrease the SW by 2 points as they add 10 grams to the butt over standard MCC’s. I agree with @Stuart_G that this artificially adjusts SW and isn’t truly an effective way to change playability.

Not sure where you got that from but it's not very accurate. Most am's wouldn't notice any stiffness change from 6 gm of added head weight for a driver/wood. For 10 gm's of added head weight, it only warrants about 1/2" of tipping to adjust the stiffness so even that isn't that much of a change in stiffness. If I had to give an amount, it's more like 15 gm for a 1/2 a flex although that's just a rough generalization. The weight doesn't really soften the shaft in the same way that a flex change does so it's not really the best way to describe the change. And of course how the stiffness changes with added head weight will vary quite a bit from shaft to shaft depending on the original stiffness profile and the swing mechanics.

Thanks for the additional info Stuart. Always open to learning more from experienced club builders. I've seen the 6-gram / 1/2 flex figure published before, which is why I shared the info. I do agree that 6 grams added weight to the head won't be a noticeable change in shaft flex. I read from Tom Wishon that it takes adding at least 12 grams to notice a change in shaft flex, but this may also be a very general statement.

It will certainly depend on the shaft as well. It should also be noted that the shaft needs to be looked at as a whole. By that I mean, if someone were to believe that 6g = -1/2 flex then they would logically come to the conclusion that 12g makes the shaft play a full flex softer, but 12g is hardly, if at all, going to affect the butt stiffness of a shaft. Its the same with tipping when people ask "how much should I tip to make it a full flex stiffer?" to which the answer is "tipping doesn't work that way". Its a completely different subset of changing shaft performance that shouldn't be looked at in terms of flex, just like adding and subtracting head weight.
