Michelle Wie with 2 double bogeys in her first 6 holes and is +4 after 6 holes. Doubled #15 along the road. Wonder if she hit one OB?

I have played it twice. Almost hit it OB the first time and predictably hit it way right the second time.

she went right off the tee into some nasty rough. Her ball was buried. She then only advanced it 10 yards! And still in the rough. 9 iron now from 117 looking to land on the front of the green. I knew this because she was talking it over with her caddie. The third was week and landed in the right trap. Normally a great sand player she then flew it 20 feet past the hole. Two putts for a double. It was her 6th hole. Bad start. I just happened to be there North Texas☺

I was very impressed with the girls/ladies today both on course and off course.

Kang and So Yeon had horrible rounds but was gracious enough to sign and take pictures with my daughter with a smile. On the 18th hole Kang told the crowd to stop making noise. Was an intense moment but post round she was signing and taking pictures at ease.

Lydia was in the zone but mid round gave my daughter her ball. It was a Callaway #9 personalized. She also signed post round. She is taller and a lot skinnier than I expected.

J Korda also very calm but waved at my daughter. Shes playing great too!

Lincicome was all smiles and talked for a second to my daughter post round.

Lexi and Wie were in the zone and kept the focus. Had a nice crowd following them.

Saw most of the afternoon group in the zone and we wished them good luck as they left the putting green.

It was a hot day today but my daughter had a great time and now a bigger Lydia fan. I’m hoping that she would want to pick up the game!

So I normally go to the Portland event and just wander around by myself. Today I went with the 5 yr old and he bought a hat and wanted to get some autographs on it. This was the first time i’ve tried to get autographs at an LPGA and was really surprised at some images of players I had and how they have now changed.

- Juli Inkster - thought she would have been very approachable but seemed put off by it.

- Jodi Ewart - kinda the same, maybe not used to signing many but didn’t even give the kid a smile.

- Lucy Liu - seemed in awe that her autograph was wanted and kinda shy

- Emma Tally - she could not have been nicer. Stopped and talked to him and I for a couple minutes, smiled the whole time and asked him about himself

- Jessica Korda - This one was a shock as I always imagined her to be kinda snobby, had a huge smile while talking to my son, asked him about his Cars shirt and golf and actually acted like she enjoyed being there

- Brittany Lang - see above

- Lydia Ko - seems to be treated like a rockstar on tour, I think I heard her speaking Korean to a few groups.

- Brooke Henderson - seemed to really get it. She actually just walks around with a sharpie. Not super outgoing but understands it all.

- ShenShen - tough with the language barrier

- InBee - pleasant but no smile.

Something else that surprised me was Yani Tseng, her irons just make a different sound. Sounds like some of the men on tour. Surprised at her steuggles.

Looking through some of the stats for the first round and see that Brittany Lang's average driving distance was 192 yards. Surely this means she hit irons or hybrids off the holes they measured drives. Don't know why she would though since pretty much every else used driver. Anyone have any insight?

I read that she lost a ball in a tree. Maybe it was a drive on one of the measured holes?

She's not WRX-worthy?

I admit I'm a little obsessed with the bungling of name pronunciations but what irritates me so much about Tom Abbott and his "Sung Hyoooon" is that he used to say it correctly. What happened?! I suspect--as NBC did deliberately pronouncing "Pyeong Chang" incorrectly because they felt it sounded better--Tom and/or the Golf Channel brass have decided that "Sung Hyoooon" sounds better to Western audiences. Strikes me as a very, very strange decision but then again I guess don't really know how broadcasting works.

Well, I don't know how names are supposed to be pronounced but I'm pretty sure Peanut was 'Mi Hyoooon'.

Michelle moping her way around Mission Hills, looking like a walking question mark with those slumped shoulders. Guess she's not feeling it this week.

Michelle is having some kind of "physical issue" again.

In other news, water is wet and the sun will set in the west this evening.

Well suddenly now she appears to be feeling great. :dntknw:

And Kimmy was a total sweetheart who could hit a 7 and 9 wood like no one.

Poor Nasa Hataoka has to play the first 2 rounds alone or maybe she prefers it

She was playing with another player today. Perhaps to maintain pace?

I actually think they do the same thing at the Masters, if there's an odd number, usually one of the best member players Yeah I think it's for pace

A single player will have to have another player in their group to be their marker. You can not keep your own score in any tournament.

Perhaps a Major but not any tournament, Brooke Henderson played alone in Australia 2 years ago and Brittany Linscome more recently last I believe. Both I remembered cause they played in 2 1/2 hours.

. I believe it’s the player’s choice whether to have a marker or play alone.

. I’m glad someone mentioned this. As I recall Peanut was always referred to as Mi Hyoooon Kim, same spelling of Hyun, and there was never anyone upset about it. Was everybody wrong back then?

Sung Hyun Park is so dialed in right now, I am glad to be watching.

Yes - great isn't it!

What's she like on the course - does she smile to kids, sign autographs and such? She seems very introverted.

Her nickname is the Silent Assassin. Should be self-explanatory.

Are there any noisy assassins?

A couple but they're either dead or in jail right now
