I think we are done for the season. I'd imagine courses will start closing next week.

 

I was planning on hitting closing day at Banff Springs but with a forecast high of 1C I can't see it happening.

Calgary courses are done for the year? We are playing in Edmonton... I have times for this afternoon and tomorrow. You guys still have snow in Calgary? Forecast is for plus 15 this week in Edmonton. I would think we have another month of golf season here.

No snow here, I am sure they will be open for a bit yet. The private ones will close in the middle of October like they always do.

 

Public ones will be open til the end of October most likely. Unless we get a huge dump of snow

Tomorrow is the last nice day for the next week. Single digits isn't golf weather in September.

 

This is normally my favourite time of year to golf. Courses are usually in the best shape and no bugs. We are getting ripped off!!

Sept 29th .... I live next to the Sylvan golf course, it snowed a bit last night and we had some frost, it was a cold day with a light north wind, it finally got to +5C/40F by the late afternoon. I didn't participate but the $10,000.00 4 man cash scramble finally got started at noon and it appears the last team finish just before 6:00 pm, that's a long day & these guys sure got cold, a few carts had canvas covers and heaters but most were open. I'm sure the beverage cart girl made a killing. Seen a couple of diehards wearing shorts and numerous guys wearing toques/beanie's. The $600.00/team entry fee gets the first place team close to $5K, the remainder is split, it was a sold out tourney. At 7:45 pm there's still a lot of vehicles at the golf course enjoying the evening. I wonder if the winning team will be buying a round of drinks this year, last years winning team had supper, collected their prize money & departed.

 

If your team won would you buy 18 jugs of draft for the group, I would ?

They play in 8 somes for that tournament? Not a chance I would put my money up to have someone cheat. Guys cheat in scrambles to win a box of balls, can’t imagine how much goes on for 5k

Some courses have shut down... We shall see as I am sure they want to get as much as possible right now. So they may stay open one week after the 14th. The 14th is when many courses would close. Please MN, give us a good Oct. to play golf

More than 12" of snow in parts of Calgary last night/today. They're saying another 4-6 inches tonight. I "guess" i'm happy for those of you in Edmonton, but it doesn't change how crappy this year is

I'm surprised Olds is open, here in Sylvan we still have snow on the greens/fairways the grounds crew are repairing stuff in the shed, no golf until perhaps Sat afternoon or maybe Sunday. Let us know how it went, I like that track.

Oct 05th ... we still have a snow on the ground, was surprised to find out Sylvan opened at 2:00 pm today, temp +8C, got my stuff together and headed out to walk 9. There was a few groups ahead of me so got to start on #10, played 2 1/2 holes then quit, lost a ball in the fairway in the snow, 1/2 the fairways still had snow cover, including 40% of 11th green. Don't understand why they opened.

 

Forecast is looking promising for the weekend, the course closes Monday for the season.

Didn’t end up going. Buddies played there the back 9 was open.

 

Serenity and speargrass are open here tomorrow. No snow on them.

Darcy was in pretty good post blizzard shape. Snow on the sides but that will melt. greens were slow and fuzzy but if they can roll em they will be good. Lets hope for little snow this week in YYC. Next friday looks ok

Highwood was great. 95% of the snow was gone. Course is in great shape! 1 man scramble today and shot -8. Not bad. First round since aug 22 and my appendix being taken out

 

Hopefully get 1 more round in!!!

Got 9 in before Turkey dinner today, based on the snow in the forecast tomorrow, my home course will be closing for the year. Reflecting back on the season we got started on May 04th, got 49.5 rounds in so far this year, hoping Alberta Springs stays open for another week or so before everyone closes. This winter were trying out the Phoenix area for a month then headed back to Palm Springs for a couple months, sure do enjoy the desert heat.

Played serenity today. Course is in mint shape.

 

Some snow coming for the next 2 days then it gets warm again. Boulder, blue devil , speargrass , silverwing will be open to the end of October
