Skipping holes as a single

It seems that whenever I play through a group I always feel like I'm in a hurry and my golf shots deteriorate.

The only time I recall skipping a hole was at 2am when the bar owner turned on the lights.

I should keep track of my par 3 scores when playing through. At a minimum I'm probably half a stroke worse when rushing to play through on a par 3. Lol. You just know you're going to dump the teeshot into a bunker, or thin one over the green.

 

In my opinion, the toughest shot in golf is the "playing through" tee shot on a par 3.

 

Lol. The 2nd hardest shot in golf is the 2nd to a par 5 when you've been waiting for the green to clear. You can almost guarantee that you'll top the ball 10 yards.

It sort of depends on the time of the day and how crowded it is. I really only skip holes as a single if it is late afternoon or early evening. Even though it makes sense to skip when you see an opening, others can be pretty picky about during a crowded time.

I have done the same thing numerous times. Some people just don't get it. I would have told him to piss off and learn common golf etiquette of letting faster players play through.

I played nine at a local city-owned course last week, during the week in the early afternoon, and to my surprise caught a fivesome on 2. I know this is common in some places, but not as common here in my area. I played behind them for four holes before I just gave up and skipped around, as inconspicuously as possible. I'd have taken a $20 bet that one or more of the group were off-duty rangers or workers at the course. Those guys always think they own the place it seems, and are congenitally averse to allowing anyone to play through. Because this is "their time" to play, and they deserve it. They do. Because it's probably in Section 37 of their collective bargaining contract or something of that sort.

My personal fav is when the slow(er) players pretend not to notice the fast(er) players behind.
