I just went to Maltby TS-1 Forged Iron Pak page and it says "In Stock" once you click on the three variables of shaft flex, club makeup and grip size. Got to check out and it says the same thing. Thought about ordering, but decided to wait and take the hour drive out to see it in person.

Just ordered the TS-2 4 iron to see if it'll replace my 3 HDI club. Can't hit the 3HDI off the deck at all so hoping this will maybe work for both. I know a 4 isn't really a good club to test but I can't really justify replacing the MMB-black set I just got at the beginning of the year.

I went to a custom fitter that sells a lot of maltby and wishon. These looks amazing and I’ll have to see if he can get some to try out.

Built a 5 - PW set with Bassara graphite hybrid/iron shafts in 5 - 9 and TT steel for the PW to match my Cleveland RTX-3 gap/sand/lob wedges. Couldn't be happier. Was playing Maltby TE forged with KBS shafts. Switched to graphite due to getting older... Clubs are about 1 1/2 clubs longer (sure some is due to stronger loft of TS-2) but they are pretty straight. When I try to shape them, they don't turn much but they easy flight down when desired. When struck on the sweet spot, it's like the ball was not there, miss the sweet spot and there is feedback but it is not harsh. You know when you don't hit it right but end up with playable results.

 

If someone is interested in building a set with graphite shafts, my advice would be to go for it, I doubt you will be disappointed.

That's great to hear. A club and a half is no joke. I would assume the graphite is helping as well.

 

I may try the Graphite in one of the TS-1 heads.

I posted in another thread but I'll drop them here. Loved the feel, thought they looked good. Still hard for me to think my next clubs won't be blades, but these are close.

 

The ferrule separation in these photos is pulling my eyes away from the handsome head.

 

Anyone else wish Maltby wouldn't print the MPF numbers on the hosel? Only aesthetic design feature that I really dislike on their heads.

These heads use the new collared ferrule from GW. I just put together a set of PTMs with these ferrules - you have to watch closely as the head tends to push back from the collared ferrule when you first insert the shaft. I had a rough front nine getting used to the rough as I sprayed the driver a bit but the irons really started to shine just before the turn. The distance control is at a level that I have not seen in a long time. I haven't played in almost three weeks and it's hardly a penalty. Take your time to figure the wind and elevation,, point and shoot. I was hole high all day long.

I let my son in law hit my clubs for the entire round and he is an erratic player but rarely got himself in trouble. He raved about the feel of the irons and felt as that the longer he played the more confidence they gave him. He was teeing off with the 5 iron and was hitting these long high drawing shots that went forever.

The TS-1s will have to be really special to knock these out of the bag.

As a side note the Dynamic Gold 105 S300 shafts give me a level of spin that seems to be just about perfect. Every ball even from the long irons was no more than 2' from the ball mark. Two shots backed up on front to back sloping greens. Really it's a fantastic combination.

No I didn't,, I build all my own. But the service they offer is an increadible deal. Buy any club pak and they assemble for free to any specs, lengths, lofts and lie you can manage. If you dont know your specs have a shaft fitting done and then order your irons to those specs. Cant go wrong.

TS-1 7i and Pw has been put together and its Maltbys best looking iron to date. Trying to photograph them is tough because they look so good in hand it's hard to capture the light just right. They are not pure blade like... but a modern version of a blade is what comes to mind. Simple single badge forwards the toe and a slightly muted finish. Really eye catching and far better looking than I had imagined.

 

The top line is noticeably smaller than the TS-2. Since playing the TS-2 that top line has disapeared. Performance trumps a topline for me. But the TS-1 is closer to a blade style iron but still has some thickness.

 

The irons were made up to match the DG 105 S 300s in the TS-2. Identical length and grips. If I remember to grab a swing weight I will.

 

In the second to last photo the TS-1 7 is in the foreground followed by the Ts-2 7 and then the TS-1 PW and then the TS-2 PW. The TS-1 is more compact, a little more business like. They look leaner and a bit meaner. Maybe it's a cleaner look, but it really suits my eye.

 

Tomorrow I'll get some time with both clubs but not sure when I'll get some simulator time. I have been playing the most consistent and best golf of my life with the TS-2. I wonder if they can improve upon what I'm seeing.

 

Last photo left to right is the TS-2, MMB-17, TS-1. All 7 irons. The TS-1 has the thinnest top line of the three at .212". MMB-17 is at .237". TS-2 is comparatively, a whopping .345".

 

Should be fun tomorrow.

Ok,,,, TS-1 VS TS-2

 

Though it's the same iron family and there are some design cues these are two different irons. I took them to the low budget range and some mowing was going on so had to hit the first half from some cabbage off to the side.

 

I started warming up with the old standard MMB-17 7i and no surprises there its solid. Feel is good and flys well. Next up I spent time with the TS-2 7 i.

 

The TS-2 has a softer feel when flushed but can seem a tab bit harsh when hit very low on the face but there is almost zero performance loss. It's a boring goes forever flight yet they land so soft. Looking down the club inspires confidence. They are easy to hit consistently and they love to go straight.

 

The TS-1 sits behind the ball with a much smaller profile. Its similar in over all shape yet the TS-1 seems way smaller. Feel wise,, its crisp. I didnt get a mushy super soft forged feel but what I got was a no nonsense,, I'm here to score type of feel. I tried hitting a few thin and a few off the toe. They feel much better when mishit than the TS-2 and show little loss of direction and distance. It's pretty damn forgiving given its difference in design. It's not as forgiving as the TS-2 but it's close. The TS-1 has a lower COG and you see it immediately in the ball flight. The TS-1 is 2° weaker but I'm not so sure it will be all that much shorter. It gets up in the air and just soars. It doesnt balloon like a TE/DBM,, it just goes. It's a beautiful ball flight. Even to the naked eye the TS-1 and the TS-2 have quite different ball flights. It will be interesting to see the simulator numbers and spin differences. I'm really looking forward to getting the TS-1 in playing conditions.

 

The first half bucket was out of cabbage and both clubs did very well with the TS-2 a bit better with its wider sole. The rocker sole is on the TS-1 as well but its narrower and doesnt glide as well. No surprise there.

 

When I switched to the just mowed area it's now of a hardpan lie. The TS-2 again does a little better with its wider sole but its not really turf you would be playing from. But it was interesting to see how it reacted on unforgiving turf.

 

Performance of both of these is exceptional. As I said before, put an OEM label on either one and they are up for club of the year discussion. They both love to go straight. They both feel great, and I have found with the TS-2 in playing conditions is the most consistent iron, direction and distance wise I have ever hit.

 

Now the big question.. which would or will I game. I need to see the TS-1 on course and really get to know them. If my game was a bit sketchy and needed some help the TS-2 is an easy choice. It just oozed confidence behind the ball. Something that a casual golfer playing 18 felt right away with those clubs,, and he played pretty damn good with them right away.

 

The TS-1 just screams players club but it was so consistent and forgiving that it's going to make a lot of people very happy.

 

I hit a ton of different clubs and all around these two are a great choice. It's going to come down to what you like to see when you look down and how you like your ball flight.

I went from MMB's to the TS2 and the swap was seamless. I made notes on the distances in the simulator,, took it straight to the course and I have not missed a beat

Yah see im a 3 wedge guy snd lofts like that wpuld require a 4th. And i have no room to drop any clubs. All have a good use right now.

I'm confused as to how the MPF system works. I currently play xtd Forged and those are rated 399 but the TS1, TS2 are rated 700+. Should I expect these are easier to hit than my current set?

 

I understand this sounds like a noob question but I guess I'm just more curious how these would be for me coming from the XTD Forged set. Because man I love the look of both clubs.
