Nice start by Minjee. She's been playing a lot of good golf lately. Mi Hyang near the top is a bit of a surprise. I'm pleasantly surprised at Lydia's -4 round.

Went to final qualifying on Monday at St Annes Old Links. What a fantastic day, no ropes just walking the fairways with the players including a few major winners and Solheim Cup players. Dissapointing to see Creamer just miss out in the 12 man play off. First reserve so hope she gets in.

 

Paula is currently ranked #136/169 in total ballstriking. Her game is definitely in a bad spot.

 

From a distance with no insight is it fair to question her desire and motivation.

 

She was there all day today, practicing and putting while waiting in vain for a place. Don’t think she lacks motivation.

Just speculating, but wouldn't Michelle had known if her wrist was so sore that she should have WD before the round started, thus allowing Paula a spot? It's not like this injury just popped this morning, as she's been battling this all year.

I'm poking around various players stats, and the driving distances look all over the map today. Jodi managed a measly 225 yards. Jin Young averaged 233. Sung Hyun averaged 274. Ariya, sans driver, averaged 286 yards. I have to assume that many players were playing less than driver to take the fairway bunkers out of play?

What holes did they measure it on? Could be they ended up in a bunker on those holes, that'll drastically reduce your yardage ;)

In Gee is just too inconsistent right now, solid front side, few nice par saves, then leaking oil coming in (I do it often, lol). The ball striking is just not what it was previously.

 

Nice rounds by Hye Jin, Sung Hyun, SYR, and Brooke, but of course pick JYK, and she throws up 76 with Inbee.

 

This is a fantastic course, excited for the next 3 days.

Really like the course. Love the tough two finishing holes. A player has to work for par on the way into the clubhouse. The fairway bunkers are great, and as Peter noted, true hazards.

 

The weather was certainly tame, so scoring was possible if one managed their way around. I do hope that the winds pick up, though.

Judging by the morning wave coming home this morning, 16,17 and 18 will likely help decide the winner come Sunday. I agree with you, I love these finishing holes. The LPGA usually likes to have scoring holes coming home on the regular tour, me I'm a fan of carnage at the end lol.

I caught some of yesterday's early coverage and was so glad Karen Stupples mentioned Catriona Matthew's 2009 feat--winning on this course within three months of giving birth. She only left out Catriona's saving her family from the hotel fire at Evian the week before. Heck, three months after giving birth I was thrilled if I got a shower in most days.

Bogie free for two days. Impressive. Pornanong has done her one better, though. She's also bogie free with 5 birdies each day.
