Totally depends on the greens. If frozen, even par gets it done. If not, (-3) will have a real good chance methinks. All holes on the front 9 will be set up as 125 or less Par 3s.

Putting might be tricky. Greens recently punched and a little sandy. I’ll take the under on the non frozen greens.

It didn’t seem like a full blown aeration. I’m no turf management expert. It was maybe more of a top dress but there seemed to be dimples. No complaints here, I’m not the expert and it’s December golf.

Just heard: It was a small tyne hole with a top dressing of sand. Not the big hole “core” punch that I was imagining. Not ideal, but not the worst thing in the world.

I played yesterday with an 8 some. It was fun. Bowed out today because I have some errands, but I would have played.

 

I also had a night from heck yesterday at National Harbor. I'll relate one of the stupidest stories ever tomorrow.

I feel like it'd be hard to pick a place in the DC/Baltimore region that City would dislike more than National Harbor.

 

I was down there for a holiday party Friday, separate from City. We stayed the night and grabbed food in the morning, and it was odd to me. There's all of these "chains" that I've never heard of, and they all miraculously have different themes that don't overlap. I put chains in quotes because I'd never heard of them. There's one BBQ place, one piano bar, one old-timey place, etc. Like they were all strategically placed there to give the convention center some variety, not because they had anything actually worth offering. It all felt a little off, but it's hard for me to explain it. I'd guess they are all owned by the same group, but I couldn't tell based on glancing at their websites.

 

The place was packed though. With lots of kids, which surprised me. It has some holiday stuff (skating, ferris wheel), so I guess it attracts some tourists who want that stuff and want to get to DC. But considering how close it is to the Beltway, it's kind of a pain to get to. Anyone that stays there thinking it's convenient to DC sightseeing probably gets a rude awakening once they find out it's a $20 cab ride to the nearest metro.

I've lived in the area for over 20 years and the only time I really go to any place at National Harbor it usually has the word MGM in front of it. Agree with most of that except the hard to get to part. To be sure, I guess it depends on where you're coming from or where you set your Waze to.

 

We've hosted people for work that have stayed at the Gaylord for training classes and they seemed to like the area for a couple of nights at least. I guess when you come in for that sort of thing though, you really only need a good coffee place, maybe a brewery or few good restaurants, thats about it.

Seen it twice so far. Most good action movies have one or two sequences that sort of grab your attention. Fallout seemed to be an entire movie made up of strung together sequences like that. And Cruise may be a whacko in real life but I respect the hell out of the fact that he does all his own stunts. The driving. The motorcycle stunts. The last movie where he's hanging from the side of a plane. Heck the scene in this one where he's jumping roof to roof and broke his leg in real life - but kept filming. The fact that he went to Airbus to learn how to fly helicopters to film those scenes. Its sick.

 

Was one of my favorite movies this year.

I dont know, but I assume, they filmed the sky diving scene with cruise really skydiving. Some cgi added in for sure, but that looked good.

 

I think it really does bring a sense of reality to him jumping and running and riding motorcycles to know he does he own stuff.

 

The chase scene through Paris was incredible.

 

And they ALWAYS get me with the mask trick. I never see it coming.

GoTime was an awesome teammate. We finished at (+1). It was cold, 100% bearable, and the frozen greens were a serious challenge. Lots of bounce thru. The fairways were somehow not frozen, so hitting your number to the front edge was the key to actually hitting greens. Same with chipping. Such a different type of golf, and so much fun.

 

The people who came out, Members and Guests alike, had a great time. No one was mad that GoTime and I won, or that we will have names etched on the perennial trophy for all time. Just incentivized everyone to play better next time.
