The Groundscrew didnt get the message about how long to make the holes.

SteakAvatarDSC and D.Hutch came in a tie for second with two guest players at (+4). Good stuff.

Played the cross country Saturday. We shoot 45 for 9 holes. There was no real par as all but two holes were par 5's at least. If you know the course at all the most impressive hole was from the 12th tee to the 17th green. Driver, 3 wood, 2 hyd, wedge and one putt. This was the only 5 for the day on this hole. Lots of balls in the water on this hole. Four teams of the 19 teams shot 44 gross. I left two putts dead center short hanging over the edge. Very cold day but fun. Walking helped keep you warm.

My excitement to go golfing in the cold has never been greater with the unlimited access my membership provides. However yesterday was about at the point I’d draw the line conditions wise. It felt more bitter than even the turkey scramble. Maybe the bloody Mary’s I was making at Glen Dale were helping more than I thought. Either way, brrrrr

Dumb story. Not golf related. . .

Saturday night I go to National Harbor to meet my brother. He's in town for a week for a conference.

So, I turn onto Fleet Street and I see this. . .

I'm in the left hand lane and there's tons of cars trying to get into the garage on the right. But, I see a guy turn left at the parking sign on the left, so I follow him into that garage.

I'm just going to timeline this.

1) Eat dinner. One beer. Leave brother at 8:00 PM. I'm like, "nice, get home 9-ish, watch a movie, hit the hay."

2) Get to parking garage. Can't get in. Walk all around it. All doors locked.

3) Go to public parking across the street. They tell me to see the concierge for the APARTMENT building I parked in. Thoughts: Concierge? Apartments? What? People don't LIVE here, do they?

4) Concierge tells me "Well, it's probably been towed, but I can't let you in. That's our resident's garage. " Me, "Well, my car is still there. I can see it. What now?"

4.5) FTR: this is the "warning sign" about parking in that garage. . .really stands out, especially at night with Christmas lights all along the street and tons of cars and people about. /sarcasm

5) She calls building manager. She says I need security from the Gaylord hotel.

6) I go to try to get security. They tell me "we don't have access to that garage."

7) Back to concierge. She tells me, "no, you need a security officer to escort you. We can't just let you in there by yourself."

8) I go back to Gaylord. Security tells me, "we can't leave the premises. Here's a number for the concierge to call."

9) Concierge calls number. No answer.

10) Building manager on phone again. She says to me, "sir. . .how did you get into my garage." "followed a guy in." "So you tailgated a guy into the garage. How did you get out of the garage?" "The stairwell right there." (side note : Not even CLOSE to tailgating him in. I think he was through the door and i was still in my lane.) "Well, I can't have you walking around my garage. I need to protect my residents." "I know that. I'm just wondering what has to be done now. I can't be trapped in there forever."

11) She tells me building security is coming at 9. At 9, there's no security guard, but there's a shift change for Concierge.

12) New concierge, "you've been waiting an hour? Why didn't you get another beer with your brother?" (side note : there were a LOT of times during the night when I really bit my tongue. There was no one in this scenario I wanted to get on the bad side of. Especially the building manager.)

13) Manager calls again. Concierge, "well, what's the non-emergency number?" (me : huh?)

14) Concierge, "ok, we've placed a call to the county police."

15) At 9:30 a PG COUNTY POLICE OFFICER enters the building, escorts me to my car. End of story.

It was almost like I was on a candid camera show. It was cold out. I was tired. That day I got up, walked dog, went to yoga, played golf, walked dog again, drove 90 minutes to National Harbor, which immediately struck me as the worst place on Earth and did nothing to change my perspective.

To pre-empt some questions : yes I looked for ways to break in. There was a barrier and a chain link fence. I tried to get in through the building. I tried to wait for a car to go in and sneak in, but it was sort of creepy and the desk knew I was there. Also, I saw at least 2 more cars pull up to the door who weren't residents and sit there like they expected the door to open. So, I wasn't the only dope. I was just the only dope who had a car in front of him.

Oh no Sully! I had pink eye for the first time in my life this past summer. It was horrible! The redness lasted about two weeks and then once that faded I had some horri-bad blurry vision. It was so bad I probably shouldn't have driven for a few days. I hope you don't have my experience.

I just woke up and have pink eye. At what point is adoption allowed?

Man it used to be just trash on his car, but now somebody is farting on Sully’s pillow?

That sucks City. I'd be pissed. That's a pretty big "P" sign for a place that doesn't have public parking. I've never seen a sign like that on a residents-only garage at an apartment.

The cop actually said, "well, I can see how you'd be confused."

The same thing definitely did not happen to C.free in Pinehurst 2016.

Haven’t seen much chatter on here about it so I assume answer is no, but has anyone been playing in any of the winter Pro Ams this year?

I think Oak Creek is this Friday and Chesapeake Hills is the 21st. There used to be pretty good money in the pot for these things but I haven’t played in them for a year or two.

Crofton CC on Feb 8th might be cool

GTM: Mostly a side sleeper. Was a stomach sleeper forever until the last 2 years. Now it's uncomfortable AF.

People who sleep on their backs with their hands at their sides creep me the F out. It's like they are practicing their coffin game.

I don't snore, but if I fall asleep on my back, I'll wake up within seconds because I'll snore once and startle myself. How do people snore and not wake themselves up?

I sleep like this :

r-SLEEP-450x420.jpg

Also, buck naked.

I know like every single person in this thread will disagree with this, but I think it's insane to sleep with clothes on. Maybe a pair of underwear in the van at Bethpage, but that's it.

A year ago my wife told me she was going to suffocate me in my sleep if I didn’t stop snoring. This was after a couple months of her waking me up at night a couple times because I was snoring. I was always exhausted by morning.

Did the sleep test, turns out I stopped breathing a lot at night (sleep apnea) and they recommended a CPAP. Ever since then I sleep like a log and only very rarely snore.

I try to fall asleep on my back, as that's most comfortable for me. But before long my dog climbs up, sits on my legs, and wiggles to wedge herself between my thighs. Between the feet might not be so bad, but she gets way up high and I'm totally spread eagle. Its very uncomfortable, so I usually end up on my side. It's our nightly ritual.

I generally wake up on the very edge of the bed, dog pressed against my inner knee, and one child or another against my back where I'd smother the child if I rolled over.

GTM: Side sleeper 99% of the time, stomach the other 1%.

Oddly enough the sleep game has taken leaps forward in the last few weeks. My wife had wanted a new tempurpedic bed for the last year or so and given the outrageous prices it just wasnt happening. We had a ~15 yr old sleep number bed that I thought was just fine. Spoiler alert - I was wrong, it wasnt. Then about a month ago when I was sick I slept in our guest room that has her old tempurpedic bed in there and slept like a baby. I said screw it and we got a new bed last week. Its one of the first times in....probably years where I fell asleep and woke up 7 hours later when the alarm went off. Three cats certainly doesnt help the attempts to sleep through the night.

Props to people that played Sunday, definitely below my temperature enjoyment threshold.

Not golf talk. I'm a side sleeper. I slept on my stomach up until a couple years ago. I have no idea how. Now even if I lay on my stomach for like an hour, it makes my back hurt.

Winter golf talk. I'd like to come up with one, or a few bounded practice routines I can follow when I putt inside over the winter. I have a few drills and stuff I like, but I generally keep it pretty free form. I'm thinking about starting with two stroke mechanics/start line things, and then doing two drills all about holing putts. So maybe I start with hitting some predetermined number of putts doing a drill like right hand only, then putts through a gate until I get to some predetermined number in a row, then 3-5-7 ladder drill, and finish up with doing the Faxon drill (where you hit a putt to die it in, then slam it to the back of the cup, then "swish" speed) a few times each from different distances. Can mix and match the pieces, but I'm thinking it'll help keep me on task a bit.

Go_Time had the Gillette Shot of the Day yesterday at Woodmore after the par 3 event.

He was hitting his approach to a back right pin placement on 18. He hit a fantastic shot that just cleared the bunker and landed on the green, about 10 feet short of the flag. Amazing shot.

Oh, forgot to mention. When his ball landed on the green it bounced about 20 feet in the air and over the back of the green and into the water. HBD and I were standing by the green when it all happened. I got a cramp from laughing so hard.
