This is easily the stupidest gear decision that's ever been made on this thread. I love it.

The shipping to continental to get it finished is the dunce cap on the stupid sundae.

Was thinking at first about doing something black or grey for the finish. I'm not sure that would do the FrankenTyne justice.

too bad fabb didn't play in the pnc this past weekend with the frankentyne. he would have been

Fabb, what's your record/what do you shoot for when you're doing 1% error putts?

Clearing 9/10? 10 in a row?

What's the benchmark?

I haven't totally fleshed that out yet. At first 10 in a row seemed like a good mark. It's gotten easier though.

There's also this weird groove I can get into where it feels like short of a total loss of focus, I can't miss. I did 60-some that one night, and was at the point of honestly wanting to miss so I could stop going. That can't be productive.

I've found myself going through a calibration period of sorts when I first start, which concerns me. So I may go 10-15 putts where I can't get a good streak started, then I get locked in.

Yeah, samesies.

It's kind of like being on the range and you start grooving a shot. The bugaboo of practice.

I like to keep moving back until I miss. Sort of gives a different look.

Saw Second City, the comedy group, at the Kennedy Center a few days ago.

Review: Not as good as I thought it would be. Was super funny when they were doing improv. But their actual sketches, which was the majority of the show, I thought were pretty meh.

Practice Talk Monday- I haven’t been all that serious about golf in a bunch of years. Mainly because I know, or at least I think I do, what it takes to get good at it. Im not willing to devote that much energy into it. I’m too busy at this stage in life for that. Would I like to improve? Of course, who wouldn’t? But I understand my own limitations at this point. I don’t worry about the score too much. I keep track, but honestly just going out and playing with family or friends is the most enjoyable. Most of the time the look of the course is the most important. I don’t know enough about course architecture to really have opinions about it. If a course has some pretty holes or memorable features, it will likely be one that I enjoy. I think that’s what I like the most about this club, some of you guys are quite good and work at your game a lot. And then you have a knucklehead like myself who just wants to have fun. We can all play together and have a good time. The only events that really bother me at all are the team ones. Because I don’t want to be the one who lost the competition for those that really put in the work. But I’ve had fun in the events I’ve played and hope to play in more in 19.

This doesn't seem promising...

Course: CLOSED all day over 3 inches of rain this weekend

Range: CLOSED all day

Short game area: CLOSED

Chipping Green: CLOSED

Putting Green: CLOSED

You do realize it is December, cold (except today), 3+ inches of rain last weekend, same for next weekend. Put the clubs away until after New Year.

There will be no putting them away. In fact, going to Golf Galaxy this weekend to pick up my Christmas present from my loving wife. She is buying me a Cally Sure Out. She’s the best!

Ironically, I put the clubs (aside from cream soda practice putts) away until January, about 2 weeks ago.

Your clubs have feelings too Dead Man. And it sounds like they feel neglected.

As much as I wish I could take some classic shiggle cuts...

Glassy wrists gotta heal sometime.

I kept saying I would try to get swings in 3x a week in the offseason and I hope I can stick to that. Between the simulator, range and wedge cuts in the basement its been pretty easy so far.

Workout wise I am definitely getting back into a really good routine. I have started mixing in the P90X3 yoga tape into my weeks workouts and man it is brutal. In a good way though. The one thing that has crushed me lately is when my spin classes start working in dumbell work during the rides. The first time out when they start with 2 lb weights you think "man these things are nothing"....and then you're working with them for 5 minutes straight. I'm about 100 days out from a trip and hoping to lose another 8 pounds before then without giving up drinking or christmas cookies.

Is anyone watching Counterpart with JK Simmons? Damn that is a good show. But the whole thing is sort of like when you read a new book and in Chapter 3 you find yourself flipping back and forth to remember which character was which and who does what. The entire show is sort of like that.

Just looked that up. "Counterpart". It's on Starz. I don't have it. Sounds very cool, though.

We finished Maisel last night. Good second season. Maybe a good space to move into for season 3. Usually S3 is about when I start wanting shows to wrap up, so we'll see. Also, started Bodyguard on Flix. First ep was good.

Golf talk. . .

I went out to hit some putts yesterday (and just get outdoors). It was cold, windy, and brutal but I was outdoors for 45 minutes. Taking half-day today and playing Waverly with PQ.

The second part of NLU with Brandel Chamblee is pretty good. Brandel's sort of got an idea of "bifurcation of golf courses". He's saying, "there should be courses just for professionals". They get talking about how horrible pros are at discussing golf course architecture.

Funny part was Soly bringing up -- first in an ad, then in discussion -- about getting Ollie Schneids 5 mph more ball speed with Callaway's new driver. I'm sitting there rolling eyes hard and Brandel says, "yeah, I'll believe it when I see it". Then Brandel sort of breaks down these "range claims". He said kevin Na's caddie one year was sayign he was getting 20 more yards with a new driver and Chamblee looked up the stats. It was like 2 yards. He did actually think that based on Ollie's ball flight that he could get more out of his drives, but maybe let's check the radar stats after next year.

Highlight of the pod for me was Brandel trying to describe what we -- in the biz -- might call "standardized multiple regression". He did get most of the words in there, roughly in the correct order. It wasn't a horrible repetition of what was surely him saying to statistician, "just tell me how to say it."
