Groundhog Day format looks fun as hell, I'm in and a free agent for partners.

 

For those not buying the $500+ drivers this year I've got a 9.5 M3 head with an extra weight. 9 holes with the M4 convinced me outright to switch.

I'm going to be a little bit smart this time, and not disassemble and sell my current club before even hitting the new one I bought. So Rogue SZ-Fubutta J is staying intact. I need to find a shaft for the 10 degree G400 LST head I scooped up. I'm thinking about doing something cheap like the UST Proforce V2, just for shiggles. Maybe I'll see what's floating around on fleabay first. I really liked the Atmos Blue when I played it in an Epic. I don't want to pay 2 bills for something trendy like a pro orange.

There's something about the new PXG at address that I didnt like - close up I actually think it looks much better.

 

The finish looks so similar to matte finished M3s and Callaways that I've seen from Continental. Which is to say, I like the look of all of them that have that matte finish. I dont know why more companies dont offer it as an option to be honest. Have a 2.5 wk trip coming up end of March and strongly considering sending the M3 off to Continental to get refinished while I'm gone.

 

I like the PXG but the irony is how "good" PXG comes out looking. Oh hey, this massive overpriced OEM finally reduced their price to where its within the same neighborhood as this other OEM thats now way overpriced too. What a win for everyone!

I prefer the look of the PING designed PXG ( they did take a lot of their engineers and designers)

 

However, I also like the look of the blended carbon fiber on our drivers but don't care for the mellow yellow. We mostly go with classic shapes for our stuff. If it aint broke why fix it.

 

With all that being said... looks doesn't impact performance.. Hell City uses a unicorn on his.

So Callaway has Skynet help them make a driver face that has a pattern that their engineers would never have come up with. Sounds interesting and I like the color scheme. But I don’t see me buying a driver this year. Nothing wrong with the Bio Cell and I’m trying to hit less drivers. If I bought a new one, I’d probably use the beast on par 3s!

 

If I had to pick a newer one. I’d probably go TM. I loved my 425 and miss that feel. Hit an M1 and it had the same feel. Not sure if I can tell the difference between their inverted cone face and other ones. More likely is that it sounds really similar and that’s what I’m actually chasing, the sound over the feel. Either way, unless I break the Bio Cell there won’t be a new driver in the bag this year.

for future reference, the only acceptable "Hive" answer is something along rhe lines of "sure. I've been playing. I'm using that 8 degree sldr with the x stiff that's been sitting in my basement along with that 6 wood I thought would fill a gap. For irons I pulled out the Cleveland blades I thought would help me work the ball a little better a couple years back that I couldn't resell for more than 50 bucks. I've got several wedges sitting around and I borrowed an odyssey tank 7 with the new Stroke Lab shaft from the pro shop and I think I'm gonna buy it. "
