I've played a bunch of them, usually 3 day trip. I've always gone in late September, only a few courses are overseeded, unlike Vegas and Mesquite. Best course, Sandhollow by a huge margin. One of my top 5 courses. Next tier, Ledges, Sky Mountain, Entrada. next tier, Sunbrook, Coral Canyon and GreenSprings. Those are the ones I've played except for Kokopelli, closed, which I loved. Coral Canyon should have ranked higher, had an idiot marshal trying to get me to hit into the slow group ahead of us. Sky Mountain is a deal as long as the play isn't too slow. Haven't gone in the last 2 years though, been going to Grand Junction, Colorado, area instead

Any six day golf trip to St. George probably needs to include the Mesquite area as well, which is 45 minutes away. I live in St. George and the only "must golf" course in the area is Sand Hollow. Add in Coral Canyon and another course like the Ledges. From there I'm hitting Mesquite and playing Conestoga, Wolf Creek and making the drive out to Coyote Springs.

I agree with Kirklan, don't think the St. George Courses by themselves warrant a six day trip. If I were doing that trip, I would also mix in Mesquite.

1. Sand Hollow (would consider playing twice, I have it ranked very high on my list of courses)

2. Conestoga

3. Wolf Creek (be mentally prepared to spend 5.5 hour round though)

4. Ledges

5. Assuming you are flying into Vegas, I would add a course in that area or play Coyote Springs

There are a lot of threads on the area, and like others have said, include Mesquite in your lineup. Unlike others I’m not a big fan of Sand Hollow.. it’s a good course but I’ve never really liked it. As far as Mesquite, you should probably play Wolf Creek at least once. If you’re like me once is enough. I like Falcon Ridge better.

I work at The Ledges and it’s in great shape right now. The weather is usually perfect in May.

Redlands Mesa, in my top 5 favorite courses, I could play it every day and not get tired of it, quite a few elevation changes and very fun. Devils Thumb also has several holes with elevation changes and had the fastest greens I've been on. Middle of nowhere, surrounded by rocky desert and adobe wastelands, fun track and their employees are great.

May is when the all start punching greens. June gets really hot and cheaper, best month is early April imo, Feb and March are good also but, can be colder.

Courses listed above are very accurate

1 day

Sand hollow (possibly best in state)/ coral canyon

Day 2 sky mountain/ sun brook

Day 3 ledges/ entrata(private unless you are a member somewhere or stay at their hotel)

After that you have to go to mesquite(45 minutes/different time zone)

I am member of group of about 40 golfers who go to St. George every year and play for 5 days. A great place to play. The best time of the year to go, INMHO, is in Sep.

Only a few courses in St. George overseed, September is when, just about 100%, of Mesquite overseeds. St. George courses that overseed include, Sunbrook, Dixie Red Hills and Southgate.

Sand. Hollow. Pics. Awesome. Definitely first on the list!!!

Back 9 is awesome! Take lots of pics and a few extra balls. Fairway on the first hole must be over 100 yards wide and I have missed it!

LOL I have a layout map of this course if anyone wants distances to bunkers and other hazards.

Sand hollow has the best Hole I have played in golf. #16 par 3 plays usually around 190-200 yards, over a cliff and you tee off from in between two rock walls.

This hole and Mauna Kea #3 par 3 are the two best holes I have ever played out of 120ish courses.

Last time we played there, all 4 of us, 2 women, hit the green. #17 at Redlands Mesa reminds me of it.

4 for 4 on that green is good.

Last time I played there in a group of 12. only 2 of us hit the green with a bit of wind(maybe 10 mph) I hit it to around 8 ft and they guy I was playing against hit it to around 5 ft. lol. I was first one to hit the green out of 9 for far with a great shot and he stole the KP from me. Still my favorite hole.

Mauna kea allows big misses right and sand doesn't. Hence my opinion.

With rare exception, bailout options can be really good features. Not too many really great holes don't offer them. 13 at Augusta. Road Hole. But those are the exceptions, not the rule.

Mauna Kea is firmly in the patheon of unforgettable holes for me.

Last time we played there (three years ago November, I’ve missed the last two years) I was in the first of our three groups. Play was a little slow so we didn’t hurry away to the next tee. Since the cart path is up on top of that hill to the right you have a great view of the green.

We watched the first guy get up and one hop his ball in the cup for his first ace (expensive ona 12 man trip!). Second guy (notoriously wild) gets up and hits, they start hollering at us as the ball is headed directly at us. We duck behind the carts just in time before the ball clamks off one of the carts. It kicks left towards the green, starts bouncing back and forth off rocks (like a plinko game) down the hill. Trickles onto the green and is headed right for the cup. It looks like it’s going in. Veers off narrowly missing and ends just a couple feet away from another ace.

A great hole, almost as good as the previous one. But I do find most of the other holes a bit similar. I prefer Coral Canyon.

Lol. That opening tee shot on Sand Hollow is so much fun. You can just come out of your shoes and Happy Gilmore that thing.

I keep reading reviews about black mesa. Have conditions improved???

Nope...gotten worse.

However, they are currently in the process of ruining the natural land in order to lay pipe down to pump water from the already low river so that they can try recovering it. The new owners may end up getting it back...but the cost is ridiculous!
