I don't believe you need to be military to make a tee time. However, you will need either a military ID card, CAC (common access card) or a VR (Visitiors request) to get on base.

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier but thought I post anyways. Spring Valley was in okay shape on Friday. Still some spots on the greens that are (not sure the correct term) dead/bare. The fairways are in good shape and some of the tee boxes need to be cut/weeded. The starter/ranger said they had to work on over 400 trees from the last storm, branches/limb etc broken, downed trees etc.

There is no way you could convince me to live north of downtown (heck , not even north of 470 & 25), but I'm quite jealous of those that live in Westminster. You have Hyland Hills and Legacy Ridge (and I believe Westwoods?) to enjoy in close proximity. I shot a smooth 44-44 at Legacy Ridge with seven penalty shots. I would rattle off a few pars in a row, then double or triple the following two holes. Blah.

Hyland Hills is fun despite the dumb finishing hole, IMO. It wasn't in very good shape when I played there a couple weeks ago though unfortunately. Hopefully, it improves. I do really enjoy Legacy, and think Walnut Creek is awesome - I'd argue Walnut is one of the best muni's in Colorado. Their greens were fast and true, though we did play right before the women's US Open qualifier. All of the courses there are quite reasonably priced too. But yes, I'd agree, north side is not for me.

I'M BACK BABY! Got off this website with the new format and other stuff going on. Struggled with my game for a long time and after a lesson and some better swing thoughts I'm back to playing actual golf again. It's amazing how much it takes away from the game when you're sucking. Hope everyone is doing great and the early season is going well!

When I played last year, all that was required was stating you had a tee time, showing a driver's license, and the guards searching your vehicle.

 

A few years ago, we went as a family last-minute to the visitor's center and tour. DL and vehicle search was all they did.

Haha, so lame. I read through the last couple pages of that thread and you didn't say anything wrong IMO. So many people get bent out of shape when you question the company they praise.

So much truth to that. My buddy who is a single digit player played 3-days in a row this weekend and couldn't break 90 for some reason. He's gonna go get a lesson to hopefully fix things before he goes out again. Hopefully, it's a quick fix cause the game is hard to enjoy in those circumstances!

It really is why I avoid the rest of the forums. A few years ago, I bought a hybrid from a popular seller. He sent the wrong headcover (I got a 4h instead of 3h). I questioned it on BST discussion. Initial resposes said it was absolutely the seller's fault. When people found out who the seller was, I got raked over the coals from the holier-than-thou-crowd because apparently it was somehow my fault for not accepting the wrong headcover.

Well ... it was 50/50...!! LOL Did not want to scare anyone off since it is a pretty good track and great shape. Plus we may have just picked way to late of time.

 

We had a 1:04 time as everyone had things in the morning. We did not get off until 1:28.... In front of us we had 6 people. 4 playing and two wives riding. Then on hole 2 another wife showed up with a BABY for the entire front 9. Front 9 took forever...!!! IF it was not for the baby we would of hit up on them a few times! One of the guys in the group is a huge hitter. He had a number of drives in the 350+ range. He was hitting a 7 Iron 210...!! Made no sense... lol

 

I think the front was around 2 hrs 45 mins or so. Waiting on every tee and approach shot. Back nine the group left and the pace picked up a lot and was around 2 hours.

 

_EDIT: I thought Ute Creek was using 6 mins tee times but they list 8 min on website. It really needs to be 10 spacing or get the marshal to do something.... If you play before 10 am I hear its hold pace well or so told._

LOL I read your post... I will say I tried a Snell MTB X for one hole this weekend. Really good ball honestly. That noted I don't disagree with your comments in the SNELL thread. All top balls are good now days. So everyone has to have some marketing to make them look better...!

With all the snow this year, any idea what that is going to to the golf season up in the mountains? Are they just going to open really late? I played up there around this time last year and at Keystone and The Raven and it wasn’t great. Temporary greens at Keystone and The Raven was a swamp on some holes

Just read the Snell thread...good lord. What was funny to me was that I read that same golf ball test a few weeks ago and decided to completely ignore it and still go with a ball that they basically described as inferior. But it works for me which is all I really care about. I like that there are companies out there trying to compete with the big boys even if they do suffer from lack of money to spend on quality control. I feel sorry for those people who are ProV or bust. Plenty of good choices out there these days.
