Checking with my club if they can do the Ping trade-in program with 2nd swing. Would be able to save a few bucks.

Thinking of ordering G410 4-SW with the Glide Eye2 Lob Wedge

You have not been around here long enough!

My game has changed a lot since then (hilariously, i mention being a steep swinger in my OP and i am one of the shallowest players there is now....i don't even take divots). But i still dig Ping G series clubs

I now have 4-SW plus a Glide 2.0 Stealth ES 58* LW. IMHO, the carbon steel stealth was a definite upgrade from my previous original Glide.

I continue to be more impressed with the playability of these irons every week. Tonight I had a 1 over 37 with a lost ball which resulted in a 6 on a par 3 and I 3 putted a par 4 . I just don't think I can hit the ball any better than I have since I put these things in my bag.

I am right there with you. They have been a game changer for me. Probably the best golf purchase I have ever made. What's got me really excited is that I know I'm only going to get better with them as I keep them longer.

I am also loving the sound and feel also. Yes I love the sound and feel of a well struck blade, but these have an addicting explosive feel and solid sound.

I've had these for about 3 months now and while they are forgiving and all. The sound is really starting to turn me off. A very loud clack even on solidly struck shots.

I'm not sure how much longer I can deal with that. Probably not past when the T200 and T300 are released.

What kind of ball are you using? They will sound much better with a softish ball.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm still loving my 410's too. Fantastic irons.

I played these for a whle now, including a Glide 2.0 54 and 58 wedge. For some reason, I was hitting them very close to the hosel....the irons and wedges both. And did "shank" some shots every round. I finally dug out my CF18 Callaway Rogue PRO's, and played a round Friday. Everyshot was in the center of the face, and felt like butter. Sound was fantastic. For some reason, I struggled with the G410 oversized heads, and most hits were in the heel area. I sold the G410's and the Glide wedges this week, and will continue playing the smaller compact Rogue PRO's. They just fit my game better (and sound sweet).

True. With Chrome Soft or ProV1 they feel just great and frankly I also like the sound.

With harder balls, it feels like hitting rocks.

The downside is that my good balls found in the ponds are gonna finish soon and I will have to buy the soft balls out of my pocket!!!

> Can anyone who has owned the older Ping G irons compare them to the new Ping G410?

I've played the G2's,G5's, G15's,G25's, G, and G400's. I still own a set of G25's. The biggest difference as far as I'm concerned with the 410's are the way they look at address. They look very close to a players iron but with SGI forgiveness. The 410's are not a soft feeling iron but feel very solid. When you flush a iron shot with the 410's there is no doubt in your mind what kind of a shot it's going to be. Guess you could say that with most irons. They make a little louder sound with harder balls like the ProV1X . The G's, G400's, and G410's all feel different than the older G series because of the Eye Cor technology. I feel getting fitted by someone who knows what they're doing is crucial . Not sure Ping changed much in the sole area but my experiance has been the turf interaction with the 410's is superior to the 400's and G's. All I know for sure is I've been mostly a Ping player for years and I'm playing the best golf of my life at age 67 with my league handicap dropping from a 8 to a 5 in 2 months.

ProVX and I know you might say that's the reason they sound so bad. Well as I told someone else if that's the case I'll sell the irons before I switch balls. The performance of the PV1X is unequaled in my experience. There are just as good of irons out there in the same category that will sound much better. Will be demoing the T200 and T300 with them soon and probably the Hot Metal Pros.

I played the 900 HM two years ago with the VX and no issue on sound.

Sell the clubs. The noise is there, particularly if you strike the ball off center, and doubly so if using a hard "X type" ball. Frankly, most spring face irons are loud but the 410's are better than most. The HM's are the best choice for sound sensitive guys since they are the most solid sounding spring face irons in the market (that I'm aware of).

Off center, I agree they are not pleasant and I feel the face vibrates too. But on flushed strokes the feeling is just what I want from a GI iron. Solid and satisfactory feel and sound as well

Titleist's GI irons like the AP1 use two gap wedges. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but two gap wedges are a non starter to me. I much prefer the loft spread of the HM and 410, although I admit to having bent the lofts a little weak here and there on my set.

I've always used heavier DG or KBS Tour shafts or PX 6.0 shafts for the most part and my trials with light shafts didn't work well. I find AWT 2.0 to be great. I have them in R so even a little lighter. They just work for me. I use a lot of club face and they just don't care. Heel, toe, high, or low. Straight at the green the ball will go. And no problem off tight lies in the fairway with the SW.

Give the HM’s a try. I love them. And FWIW, I’ve bagged G2 and G’s and demoed 410’s. The HM’s have been the best I’ve hit.

>

There have been some negative comments about the sound of the G410. How would you describe the difference in sound between the G and G410 if any? Thx
