Tour AD IZ vs Tour AD VR

I was fit into the VR atThe Kingdom into a 9* SIM and a 15* SIM Max 3 wood. the shaft is extremely great with dispersion and feel. Much lower flight than the DI. I found that the IZ fit right in between the DI and the VR on height of launch and ball flight. I find that the DI feels the “loosest” and the VR feels most stout with the IZ (again) fitting right in between in the feel factor. Both the VR and the IZ were consistent and gave the best dispersion.

After playing with the VR in my new clubs, I eventually changed the shafts back to the IZ to help increase height of ball flight without increasing spin.

Well said in my experience. The DI was loose and I did like the IZ in my M6. I do feel like the VR is straighter for me than the IZ (Sim Max D VR vs M6 IZ).

So I have been able to hit my Callaway Mavrik Subzero with the 7S AD VR alittle bit more and I am having better results. I think the lack of access to a driving range makes it hard to get used to a new club. It is a nice shaft, though I can't say a lot more until I can get it on a range several times and hit multiple balls with it. Since I only use it off the tee on certain holes, it doesn't get a ton of play. At the new course I have been playing, the only hole I hit it on is the first hole, as the rest of the holes are driver holes. My old course had 5-6 holes where I could hit 3 wood off the tee, so I am waiting for it to re-open, as it was closed for the pandemic due to Mayor's order. I was at a public course the other day that had an open range, and I was able to hit about 10 balls in a row with it, and I think that helped.

I still can't say that it is better than the IZ for me, but at least this is an improvement.

I feel like after hitting the TP for a couple rounds now, I can say the IZ seems to be a love or hate. I find the IZ to be stout which runs counter to what most say, but the TP feels similar to VR in that kicks. I only hit a VR twice and moved on, but after trying a TP a couple ways I settled on 3/4” tipping. I love the kick feeling and don’t feel like I have to go after it, but when I do there are no issues.

I just got a sim max with the iz7x in it. Going to give it a go.

 

my buddy has the VR a 7tx (got it from a Canadian touring pro) and I have never seen him hit driver so well. So straight.

According to Graphite Design both the TP and VR have a “kick point” close to the middle of the shaft, and the IZ “kick point” is a little higher up. The IZ doesn’t have the accelerated taper, TP and VR both have accelerated taper rate. One of those reasons may be why some people either love or hate the IZ as you stated. If someone is used to and likes that kick feel as the shaft unloads, IZ may not be for them.

I went AD DI, IZ, and now VR. After about 10 rounds and two different heads, I think I am going back to the AD DI. I love it in my 3 wood and need more launch in my driver. Getting older and trying to swing smoother and the AD DI seems to like that a little more.

VR 6s maybe looking for a new home...

Gonna need Tiger to hype up the VR train...until then let the sleepers sleep and game what puts you in the fairway.

Any longer term reviews on the VR? 
 

I play and love IZ in driver. I have DI in 3W and am considering switching to VR or IZ in the fairway to get a slightly tighter feeling.

had IZ in driver then cut down as fairway and loved both.
Blindly bought VR to try but felt stiffer compare with IZ.
Couldn’t load the shaft properly for my swing.
gonna give couple more try before going back to IZ or ID or even something else.

Can’t speak for the VR, but I am loving my HD in Driver and IZ in 4 wood. I tried the IZ in the driver, liked it, but was more consistent with the HD.

Have VR 6x and 7x on order for driver and 3wood. will report back once a few rounds under the belt.
