Cobra F9 Tour Length (44.50”) ... Anyone?

Anyone have testing experience with the Tour Length version of the F9? I’m intrigued because it’s a shorter shaft but with proper swing weight adjustments. Most cut-downs end up too light and most manufacturers that make a smaller head (TM, Ping) don’t offer a shorter-shafted option.

I currently use the F8 Tour length. I prefer shorter drivers for accuracy. I didn't notice any difference in distance.

Cobra doesn't do anything but put 12 grams of more weight in the head to bring up SW 6 points from the loss of 1 inch in shaft length. There's no extra tipping involved so technically, you end up with a slightly softer shaft but I don't notice it and most people probably don't.

I'm getting fit into the F9 this weekend at the Cobra van in Encinitas soon and will get the tour length again.

Just to clarify, The weights are 8 grams heavier on the Tour length. It is about 1.6 grams per point And closer to 5 points per inch shortened on a driver.

2 grams per point and 6 points per inch is for mid irons. Wedges are a bit more than 2 grams per point.

Ping does, just tell them what length and swing weight you want and based on your choice of shaft they will tell you if the SW is achievable. TM on the other hand are a bunch of tools - they tell you flat out you can custom order a shorter shaft but if you want a certain SW you can go somewhere else.

I just bought an F9 and was pleasantly surprised by the shaft length. I'm height impaired (5'7) and I always butt cut the shafts to 44.5 inches. Mine came with a hzrdus smoke, but I game a hzrdus yellow. Just swapped the adapters out and found the length to be identical on both shafts. Love the F9!

I have a F9 tour with an Atmos Tour Spec Blue 7S and two 16 gram weights versus a light and a heavy. The thing is long and stupid fun to hit. Feels like a powerful 3-wood with driver distances.

Play the F9 tour length. Head felt a bit on the heavy side and I really didn't like it, so swapped out for the regular weights. Perfect now and loving it.

Also should add I tried all kinds of shafts and the best fit for me was the old Whiteboard 70s lol. I guess my swing doesn't need the latest and greatest. My F9 5 wood however, got a Tour AD 7s.

You can order any length you want and any weights you want .... thru Cobra account. I had 45" with Tour weights. I like a heavier head so I asked for additional 10g weight. Came with all 3.

Explains my experience as well, mine is 44 inches and has two 16 gram weights and came with an extra 14.

Glad you brought this up. I usually play my drivers at 43.5 from trial and error. But its interesting their tour version is 44.5, only a half inch shorter than their standard. On their website it says you can select as low as negative 1 inch, so 44 inches. But Ricky, their tour pro, is playing it at 43.5. Why aren't they offering at this length. I' love this driver in testing, but worried about them building a shorter version with the correct swing weight. What to do?.....

Plan on cutting mine down tomorrow to get it at a more playable length for me. My question: is the tour length 44.5 with the Arcos sensor grip or with a standard grip?

For those who have cut down the regular one rather than buying the tour length; did you just butt trim it or tip trim too?

How did it work out for you? I have a tour length radspeed with a standard grip, came in at 44.25". The 44.5" is only if you have the arcos grip, if you check the Cobra website it has all the info there. The tour length would just be butt trimmed not tipped.

For those of you playing at 43.5 to 44.5, what head weight do you try and get to?

I don't target a specific head weight, I target a swingweight that I've found to work for me.  That swingweight scales a bit as does the shaft weight; I go a bit heavier as the shaft weight decreases.

Though normally, I've tended to go with the NV75 (78g raw weight) as the lightest I can stand to use.
