The first is a beautiful, almost sensual feeling that originates in your fingers, hands and ears and moves like butter through your entire body, finally ending in your toes.

Yeah, sounds like a girl I was with last night. Anyhoo; I have a set of Northwesterns 2-PW has to be from the sixties, can't think of the name. I only use them when I am groove my swing after a long winters nap. Take them to the range for two weeks and hit them really bad, put the Pings bag 2 wks later, and Boom Baby! I call them them, "The Magic Sticks"

Dad died early spring so mom gave me his set of Wilson Foremaster's which he bought in the army around '68. THought no harm in taking them for a round, I got lots of laughs in the foursome, yet eveyone wanted to try at least one shot. Score was a few strokes higher but the memories. THe first set dad bought me were Titliest AC100, spend a "couple" hundred back early 70's so maybe next weekend......

Ping I-3, been in my bag since January of 2000. I keep looking at the new stuff but I just cant justify it since these are great clubs, custom fit, and still in good shape. You will notice that a lot of Ping players keep thier clubs in the bag a long time because of custom fitting, quality and durability.

I am still playing my Lynx Parallax from 1994. I have not found a set that I hit better than these.

OMG, another Parallax user. From the same year. Great irons, except I wish there was less offset. Actually, I got a set of Bridgestone J33CB's a few months ago but still contemplating whether I should keep them or not

If I'm up at the family lake cottage and didn't bring my regular set, but want to out for a round, I pull out the clubs my Dad bought me for HS graduation in 1970, Wilson George Archer model irons, the 2 iron still has the original "grip reminder" small flat spot grip on it. There's something about the feel of a well struck shot with these clubs. Plus the memories!!

My regular set of irons are Titleist DCIs, bought probably 12 -15 yrs ago, can't remember. Just really like them. And the SW is a Wilson X-51, grabbed out of a bragain barrel on a golf trip to Ireland in 1985. Love this club, but man are the grooves getting worn. But, can't find a replacement that I like. Not even sure what the loft is on it, mayber 52 degrees.

A third and fourth for the Lynx Parallax...I don't even know how old mine are and my brother has a set two, we don't even know which are newer or older because our uncle scored them for us from a couple doctors...I've had them for at least 7 years and they weren't new when I got 'em. Hopefully picking up a set of MP-60s or MP-57s in the spring. Anybody want to buy a set of Lynx Parallax? 3,5-PW (4 iron busted, the doc was just going to throw them away, my uncle actually caught him at the dumpster at their country club ha ha)

My dad still uses his Tommy Armour Silver Scot's that are about 20 years old. He just regrips them every couple of years. Also he keeps on saying someday he'll get new irons.

Nothing wrong with that I'm doing the same thing, original PAT PEND 845s. I have an extra set in my garage as well.

Up until I purchased my Srixon I-302 (which are UNBELIEVABLE!) irons on ebay earlier this year, I'd been playing with a set of Titleist DCI oversize + irons from 1997.

dci_os_gold.jpg

I use the black DCI irons, and I don't really see too many other iron sets from this era. Usually I see people playing either more contemporary stuff, or else much older equipment from the 80's and earlier. But I like the Titleists myself, I'm always confident they can hit the shot I'm looking for.

One of the Doc's that play's in our skins group has theses he kills them.

Played with a guy a few weeks ago that had a set of MacGregor Doctor irons from the early 90's. Wow were they weird looking things!! PING ZING looking from behind but not bad from above. He was a 20 something handicap and was deadly with the short irons with them.

What was it about the early 90's and irons?? The Doctor from MacGregor, Cleveland VAS 792, PING ZING - those were some real bad times for golf equipment.
