The options on my irons are pretty much the same as Baddeleys options. Straight leading edge, rolled off heel, killed leading edge blend, standard top line and semi square toe. I specified that i wanted a small looking head with minimal offset and a fairly plain 'straight lined' looking head without the top line looking rounded. I was told Don White new what i was looking for so i was happy to trust him!

I apologize for being late to this thread, but don't the musclebacks look a lot like the Cobra 'prototypes' played by guys like Ogilvy? I believe I read somewhere that those were either done by MacGregor or copied from one of their designs.

blades are not as unique as cb's... they all have different ways of being made, but in general they usually all look alike... i kind of agree, but the muscle on the mac's comes to a point and i don't think the cobras do...

Quick note that my MacGregor Pro C's arrived yesterday. They were perfectly assembled (I requested a number of custom specs) and seem dead on. Can't say enough about our local rep (JT Holsman), who kept everything under control and kept me informed of the status.

Found out of Friday that the gun metal finished irons are on back order until June. I hate waiting....

After receiving a response to my pm from Reid (awesome that he does that, and thanks again Reid!) I was set to order my gun metal pro-m set when I found out today the same thing with the back order:( ......However, they did have some pro cm combos left in gun metal so I pulled the trigger on those and a couple wedges instead!!!! I've got my fingers crossed that it all works out and they're in the bag next week!!

Finally got a good warm day today with good conditions. So I headed out late afternoon hit a bunch of balls and played a few holes with my new Pro C's. Before I get in and say how great these clubs are I feel that the set up I currently have is probably the best I've ever had in the bag in terms of the proper lie, shaft ect. Going through the proper custom fit process with somebody is really worth it. The nippon 1150s are a really great shaft. There was absolutely no wind tonight , so I got a good idea of the true ball flight. These clubs are choice for sure and the feel off a pro V1 is really exceptional. When hit on the middle of the sweet spot you can barely feel the ball. Overall these clubs are better than I expected. So now that I know the will be the gamers, time for some DW Wedges, would'nt you say?

I've had a couple great rounds with my TN-87's.. I should know better over the years... my pro-cm will be on the block soon. Maybe it's the shafts (rifle 6.5)..but I just dont have the want to tinker anymore. They are really really nice irons..maybe DW grinds might change my mind, but that will have to wait $$$$.

You're probably better off anyway. The long irons in the C are so ridiculously easy to hit...and I've never been a long iron player.

 

I've got no use for a hybrid anymore. So don't worry, you won't lose much of anything in going with the combo.

I second the above post. I originally ordered the 4-PW thinking I'd get a 3 hybrid, but I hit the 4-iron so well I ended up ordering the 3-iron...could not be happier as they are just amazing long irons. Also picked up a DW wedge and it just might be time to add the driver to the bag as well - I think I'm going to be broke soon.

I bought a Gunmetal combo set of these yesterday with Project X Flighted shafts.....cannot wait to get them.

I am also in the market for some hybrids and fairway woods.....anyone tried the Margregors and care to comment?

I bought them because I hit them well, and the customer service I got was so incredible that I wanted to give all of my business to Mac.

 

I look at it this way, there are a lot of very good products out there at this time, and as golfers, we are all benefitting from the vast variety of offerings.

 

So, what separates one club from another? 1) Aesthetics, 2) Customer service.

 

MacGregor had both in spades.

 

I got my FW and hybrids with DVS shafts.

 

My clubs arrived yesterday, and I was in trial the past couple of days, so I am going bananas until Sunday, when I will be free to hit them. Of course, my mother will probably guilt me to death that I am not doting on her the entire day, but that is what I get for having an overbearing Jewish mother.

Alright guys, I got my gunmetal combo set already!!!! Ordered on Monday (custom shaft and grip) and they arrived THURSDAY!!! Fast shipping, great customer service, and WOW what an awesome set of clubs!!! I hit my way through the bag today at the range and I could not get the smile off my face! Everyone was asking to see them (one guy wanted to take them right off the counter as I was paying for them). Such a classic look, the gunmetal is awesome, and they are like BUTTER! Long irons fly nice and high, and are super forgiving. The short irons are SOOOO solid and I feel like I can do anything with them! Anyone who thinks the MP33s are great (I know there are a lot of you, and I am still one of them), you need to try these!! They are everything the mizzys have and MORE! :man_in_love:

Demo, I like Daly, and am still possibly stupid enough to believe that he may turn it around. If he does, and I think he can if he stays overseas playing for a bit, staying out of the negative spotlight that he creates stateside (are there Hooters over there?), I think he can change his image.

 

I got to see my irons, driver and 2 hybrid yesterday, but am waiting for my wedges, 3 wood and putter to get here (somewhat complicated custom order--DVS shafts in hybrids and woods), and I was salivating at the shop. Even the two guys that work there were saying what gorgeous clubs they are.

 

I should be set on Tuesday, and I may try and play hookie for the next couple of days or so (or at least get some driving range sessions done--kind of looks goofy done in Canali or Armani, but I don't mind looking like a jackass--I'm good at it).

 

Seriously, the clubs make me want to be worthy enough to play them well. And, they have my initials stamped on them (MT), so there is even more incentive. Plus, I get to tell the hacks at the bar that Mac was kind enough to initial all of my clubs and headcovers for me.

However, I doubt where you guys have got all the customization from. Can you please help recommending some good pro-shop or golf retail websites that have the international delivery system in place that you think they can work with me to customize my own MT-PRO M irons?

I don't know if they will place custom orders, but the largest retailer that carries MacGregor in the U.S. is Edwin Watts Golf. They have bricks and mortar stores mainly in the Southeast U.S. and online.

I just got my MT Pro-C iron for demo and it's a thing of beauty. Although, I haven't gotten to hitting it yet, how does it compare to the MP-60's? More or less forgiving?

I've had MP60s for 3 years. personally for me the Pro-Cs are more forgiving. (slightly).

Hmm, thanks for the info. I love my MP60's and have never had problems hitting them that was the club's fault but...damn...I don't know if I can resist these MT Pro-C's....

 

Are the new MacGregor hybrids supposed to be forgiving as well?
