Golf Bachelor Party Formats/Ideas

Recommended Posts

**EDIT**

Thanks all for the responses! Super helpful -- will try and update with what we end up doing!

Hi y'all,

I'm going on a golf trip down in Delaware (from NJ) in August and there will be about 16 of us total. Our handicaps go across the board with the best being around an 8 and the worst being maybe double-par. I would say most of us fall in the 100ish range.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to best organize our foursomes/playing formats to do something competitive, but fair. Maybe someone has a formula where we can just plug in our scores or something, haha. Right now, we're trying to think of how to do stuff like Ryder Cup, best ball, etc.

Would love to hear some ideas/thoughts that others have used before!

Thanks

Did this a few years back. We only played one round, but ultimately the group decided to not do any kind of competitive format. Blasphemy to some, I'm sure, but if freed up the whole group to just have fun since our skill levels ranged from single digit to twice-a-year golfer. No pressure, no consequences, etc. We had 2 foursomes on a pretty open course, so at the turn we switched groups up. Might not be what your group is looking for, but was a great way to start off my bachelor party.

Just play a scramble, make it fun and no stress on the guys who maybe don't play much. Chances are you will be drinking too and it will speed up play to make sure you don't hold anyone up on the course.

We have played a dice scramble at events like this before. Put your names on a card. 1-4 rolled, that individual tees off. 5 or 6, all 4 tee off. Just a regular scramble after the tee shot. Honestly just pick random teams and don't put too much pressure on winning, just drink a few brews and have fun.

Depending on how many higher cappers there are, 2 man teams could get pretty lopsided. I'd say 4 teams of 4 and just scramble. That puts less pressure on the high cappers and frees everybody up to have more fun. We've done something similar where we pick teams ever morning. The 4 A players pick in reverse order of how their team finished the day before (draw numbers the first day). The question is are the highest cappers self-aware or will they be upset if they are picked last?

Callaway scoring system should be considered. Regarding format, Red/White/Blue tee boxes (6,6,6). You can play better ball, scramble, bramble, or some modification of each. The red, white, and blue format insures some very short holes which your weaker players will appreciate and some longer holes for your better sticks.

That's actually why I think it would be so fun, lol. Everybody just playing super horrible so it's a crap shoot everytime you choose a partner, lol.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
