Inexpensive sand wedge, Tommy Armour, GXT or Over-N-Out

Looking for an inexpensive sand wedge, 60 dollars, Tommy Armour, GXT or Over-N-Out came up in my search, anyone play these? I am a high capper and a forgiving sand wedge is ideal.

With proper technique and practice, you can use any sand wedge effectively regardless of price.

I don't necessarily disagree w/cgasucks but you did ask about inexpensive options. Don't forget Maltby (I'm a big Maltby fan). They have a wide sole glider wedge in a club pack that they will assemble for your for free. $38.99 includes a TT shaft. I own some Matlby wedges (not these though) and the quality and performance is first class.

if you’re trying to address a sand-specific issue, then check Callaway Pre-Owned for a like new Sure Out. If it’s for more of a general purpose higher-lofted wedge, there are also plenty of other Callaway offerings there as well.

 

Nothing against TA or some of the other wedges mentioned here, but if it were me, I’d feel more comfortable at that price point with used Callaway, Cleveland or some other more established OEM in my bag. (I also realize this bias is a bit naive.)

 

Ultimately though practice and technique trump all else.

If you’re looking for a wider sole wedge wedge like the over and out. Tour Edge has the 1 out and it’s inexpensive. I got one as a throw in when I bought some of their other wedges. I played around with it and still use it from time to time and it’s really easy to get a ball out of the sand with.

Even better if you can find a cleaveland cbx wedge. Very forgiving

Just get a Ping Eye 2 sw, you can find them for under $60 and I don't think there is a sw that is more automatic than the Eye 2

The major sporting goods chains rarely have a $60 new wedge. I'm always hesitant to purchase a wedge that is used because of the groove condition. The sand wedge can be a difficult club to find because the used club sites rarely have a "mint" or "excellent" condition wedge. However, if you scour the websites carefully, you can actually find a wider sole sand wedge at that price. The original CBX would be a great option if you can find one close to your price range.

Great suggestions guys. I was also thinking of trying my Ping M/B Wedge which is a 56 degree. Is it ok and easy to use a 56 in the sand? I've always used it just in the fairway to get over sand traps.
