Callaway Super Hybrid

Recommended Posts

My hybrid was delivered today. Compared it to my 18* XR Pro hybrid with AD DI 95 and my XR Pro 14* 3 wood with D+ Limited 80. I had the Super Hybrid turned down -1*. I’m honestly not sure how this thing is going to fit in. Haha. It’s as long as my 3 wood. It honestly looks very similar in size to my 3 wood too. You might say this basically makes it a 5 wood, but it doesn’t launch or spin anything like a 5 wood at all. This thing sounds awesome, feels hot too.

It was mentioned by someone that the shaft was “watered down”. Hard disagree there. It has the same amount of kevlar weave in the butt end that you see in the Pro version of the Tensei shafts (I have a Tensei Pro Orange 60). Along with the tungsten W logo above the band. This would be the first time Mitsubishi has created the “made for” version to look exactly the same as the Pro version.

Had a few stinkers that I deleted from the average. First time I ever hit it, so had a few outliers due to not being acclimated with it. Take from these numbers what you will. Like I said, just not sure yet how this club fits in my bag. Will have to wait for testing on the course to see how it truly compares to my 3 wood and if it’s possibly a 3 wood replacement. 3 wood is a club I’ve not been comfortable with for a couple years now.

Thanks for posting. I'm trying to talk myself out of buying the 20 degree option now since golf season is basically over for this year. I should probably wait til next spring to buy it. Might find it a little cheaper as $319 is getting a little pricey for a hybrid. Of course there's always Christmas!

Driver: Callaway Rogue STMaxLS 10.5 Degree

5 Wood: Cobra LTDxLS @ 17.5 Degree

Hybrid: Cobra King OS 3-4 Hybrid @ 20.5 Degree

Hybrid: Cobra Aerojet @ 24 Degree

Irons: Taylormade 2021 P790's 5-AW

Wedge: Taylormade MG3 54 Degree

Wedge: Callaway Sureout 2 @ 60 degree

Putter: PXG Closer

The next evolution of distance claims... First they started stamping a 9 iron with a “P”. Then they stamped 8 irons “P”. Now they build fairway woods and call them “hybrid”. Makes complete sense.

For those of you saying it's similar to the Adams Super Hybrid, that's because it is. I heard/read that the person who designed the Callaway Super Hybrid is the same person that designed the Adams Super Hybrid. Hence the naming.

Also, I'm surprised people are balking at the price. Titleist hybrids are $280 a piece with a less premium shaft, these are $320. That's only a $40 difference... You spend more than that on the brand new dozen ProV1's you just lost in the woods lol.

Face it, golf equipment is going to continually get more and more expensive. Just wait for this new Taylormade SIM release, the prices are going to be insane. Next year, they'll be even worse. I guarantee Titleist's next line of hybrids are going to jump from $279/club to $299/club. It's just the reality.

I have a love hate with my 2017 M1 hybrid. When it's good it's great, and when it's bad it's horrible. No real forgiveness, you need to hit it on the screws or forget it. I really need something that's much more forgiving but also won't spin off the planet like my old 816H2 did. Thought about Apex pro but I don't love glued in heads for any hybrid or wood. TS2 is on my hot list and so is this... can anybody compare them?
