Both the DF2.1 and the DF3 are built with shaft lean into the head. The press grips are also built with lean to offset the shaft lean into the head. Thus the grip will be neutral, perfectly vertical. So all you do is rock your shoulders to return the putter to the proper loft at impact and impart the perfect roll on the ball. The putter and the Lab technology is doing all the work for you.  So if you don’t forward press now with your putter, you definitely want a Lab press grip. Otherwise you will have to forward press with a non press grip. Hope that makes sense.

I guess I'm not clear on why this would be the case. Is it because if I didn't the face of the putter would be higher than the rear of it? Due to the shaft lean being built into the head.

Wouldn’t a normal grip not be vertical due to the forward slant of the shaft? Could be awkward to putt with. There are videos on YouTube of guys changing to a conventional grip though. Don’t think I’ve seen one where they sent it back and had LAB lie angle balance it to the new non-press grip though

Yes. The face will be up in the air if you have a normal grip on it and do not forward press.

Placed the order 1/24. Got email it was in production yesterday, 1/31. Just curious how long the production process is right now.

Here for the same question!  I have serious impulse and patience issues, so I sprung for expedited production and shipping.  Any other crazy people out there?  How long did it take??

48 hours from order to in hand.  Initial thoughts is this is going to be a game changer.  Was able to start the ball on my intended line infinitely better.  I tend to pull 90% of putts >1 degree left.  My tendency so far with the broomstick is within 0.5 degrees.

Loving my Mezz Max broom EXCEPT mildly annoyed with how much I have to cram it into my Links Legend bag 😞

 

Maybe it gets better as the grip gets more grimey? Welcome folks’ thoughts/experience.

The angled (and large) grip do make it a pain in the a** from time to time, I agree. It also did not get better, except for me getting used to putting it in be bag at a certain angle as well as knowing how to get it out without getting caught up.

 

Still worth every bit of hassle. For how much it changed my putting, I'd carry it in my hand if I had to 😉

I used to think (and everyone told me) I was a good putter until I tracked my strokes gained last season and saw I was often losing half of my strokes on the green. So I am searching for improvement. I have read or watched everything I can on LAB putters and have kicked around the idea of ordering one for a while. Problem is, as a lefty, it is very hard to find a demo to try. I have tried the righties that I have come across but it's not the same obviously. Spending that kind of coin (and shipping to Canada as an extra wrinkle) without having properly tested them makes me nervous.

 

Did anyone take the blind dive into a LAB putter? How did it go? Would be even better if any of you track your strokes gained data and can relay what improvement (or not) you saw with the switch. Thanks in advance!

I took a blind leap of faith and got fitted for a standard, an arm-lock, and a broomstick a few years back.  Zero regrets man, putting is now my favorite aspect of the game when it was my least favorite before.  I never broomsticked before - now it’s my favorite style.  
 

Get fitted, it’s super painless.  But yeah man, do it!!

Jumped in blind as well after virtual fitting.  I don’t track stokes gained, but I do have tons of data from GCQuad on my horizontal launch angle tendencies on putts.  With my previous gamer I averaged 1-2 degrees to the pull side.  With the broomstick nearly every putt has been less than 1 degree offline.  Confidence on putts inside 6 feet is significantly better.

I am located in Europe, so it was blinder (if that exists) than you as I have never seen one in person and you at least saw some right handed ones. How did it go? Well - been gaming Df 2.1 for 3 seasons now and it is insane. Admittedly, it takes some adjustments (after the honeymoon in which you make everything) and some work to figure out how to properly use it. But since then it has been great. Whenever I had a round of bad putting, I go back to these fundamentals and can fix it in seconds.

Did anyone here go from the standard Mezz Max to a broomstick or Link? I was having issues with my alignment and kept missing to the right. I moved the ball position and tried to take my hands out of it but no luck. I tried a Link 1 in PGATSS and holed a ton with it. I know it's not a sure sign it will translate to the greens but it gave me some confidence. I'm curious if the forward shaft lean doesn't suit me.

I sold my Mezz Amex for the same reasons. Couldn’t get comfortable with my alignment. Very noticeable on short putts. I felt more comfortable holing 20 footers than a 5 footer. I too holed more with the Link while demoing. Currently in a SC Phantom 9.5 that was my gamer before the LAB. Still wanting to get a Link however….

I'm thinking I'm leaning toward the Link but I'm going to give the DF3 a shot before purchasing soon. I'm planning on taking a trip (two kids under two 😳 ) for some much-needed time away on my own, so I'd love to have a LAB back in the bag for that occasion.

I have had the same issue with the Mezz. I am able to hole way more putts consistently with the Link. I think some of it is the onset of the Mezz and the DFs that mess with my brain.

I may say the heck with the fitting I was going to do since it’s with the iPing and it really only measures basic stuff. I already did an online fitting and fell into 68-69 lie angle at 34 inches. May just pick up the Link as I already rolled it well in my PGATSS.

When I ordered mine on Tuesday they didn't have "expedited shipping" as an option anymore.

Currently gaming a 2013 Scotty Cameron GoLo Center shaft putter.  Very intrigued with these L.A.B putters.  Has anyone gone from this type of Scotty to a L.A.B putter?  Does already gaming a center shafted putter make the transition to L.A.B easier?  If you have made the switch mentioned above, tell me about your experience.

Did you order the df3? The df3 currently does not offer expidited builds. The other heads still offer them for $250. 

 

The person you responded to ordered a broomstick which is not available in the df3 yet so it had to be one of the other heads.

I went from a SC X5C (center shaft) to a MEZZ. I think being used to a center shafted putter is helpful but you still have get used to not manipulating the head with your hands. I found the thumbs off drill helpful and had to make sure the ball is a little more forward in my stance.
