Long term reviews on Cobra King F9 Speedback Driver, still using it?

Full session plus winter league completed with the F9 in the bag. It will be staying.

I didn't play a lot of golf June-September due to turmoil at home but having had 4 solid months of playing meaningful golf a couple of times a week I can only say that I remembered why it replaced the M4!

The look (artic white), sound and consistency is second to none.

It's a good 12 yards longer (stats collected) than the M4 was. It feels more balanced. Whereas M4 had some weird trajectories the F9 is consistently putting up long, penetrating draws.

Can't see the Speedzone being vastly different so will be keeping it in the bag along with my F9 fairway and 2 hybrid.

Used the F9 driver for a full season last year and started off poorly.

First, I was not getting the distance I expected or ball speed, however I was first fitted into an ACCRA TZ6 M5 shaft. Super low spin, I averaged 1700-1900 rpm with swing speed of 105-108 (14g weight forward, 2g in the rear). I flipped the weights around and only gained about 100 RPM...ball flight and distance did not change much.

I went to a demo day and spoke with a rep who gave his driver to try with a 10g weight in the front and 6 g weight in the rear. Spin jumped up to mid 2100's, same swing speed and gained a bit more distance. But I was still disappointed.

Went to another driver fitting to try everything and anything to help and was actually fitted into a F9 with the 10g weight forward and 6 g weight in the rear, but in a Diamana DF 60 s shaft. Swing speed increased to 110-112 and spin was in the 2200's (give or take 100 depending on the strike). Absolutely crush this driver.

I might play with flipping weights around in the next month to see a difference, but for the most part I'm very happy with the F9 driver. FYI - I previous owned a Ping g400.

Going into the 2nd Florida season with mine. I went with the Tour version, with the shorter shaft and heavier weights to adjust for swing weight difference. Initially spun way too much until I swapped the heavier weight to the front. Straight with good distance (not the longest though), almost automatic. Nice to step up to the tee with confidence and swing away. I will demo the SZ when it arrives, but not rushing to order anything new at the moment.

Have been using mine since March. Great club all around. Will try all the new stuff but hard to imagine it getting knocked out of the bag.

I've now used it for a full season. Started the season off well and found a lot of fairways, but would still miss right a few times per round (lefty here). In the offseason I bought some extra weights and after switching those out and going to heavier weights, I'm grooving it now. Will be in the bag this season.

Fine tuning the weights seems to be the key with this driver. Nice thing about Cobra is you can buy them directly from their website. I did the same thing and landed on 10 gm forward and 6 gm back. Brief experiment with 18 gm forward/2 back, very difficult to control. I would imagine the sweet spot could be an even split front and back, but they don't have 8 gm weights if you are playing at the stock head weight (16 grams combined).

Agree with the above post. I played with lead tape all last year to get the weight up.

I play my F9 short, 44.5", and have been trying different weight combos using a weight kit I got off of eBay. I just switched to 14g front and 10g back and the simulator numbers were the best I've seen yet.

Still the 14/10? I just switched mine to a tour length shaft & need to adjust for weighting as well.

just sold my CAMO F9 head. too good an offer to refuse lol. I will get another one or one of the SZs. that infiniti face is so cool.

 

I tried the ST190 and ST190G they were not in the ball park of the F9 for me. They felt better though. As good as the LTD series. I can just do what ever i want with the F9.

I wish cobra would have the LTD Pro feel in the F series. Did not like the F6, F7, nor F8.
