It's 10X more deadly than the flu per the head of the National Institute of Health. The market doesn't drop thousands of points because of a common cold. Sports seasons aren't cancelled by the common cold. We don't have travel restrictions because of the common cold. Stop spewing off falsehoods pushed by political hacks.

just to be fair here, the death rate is extremely low in people 0-60 years old ...it does increase in older people who also have underlying illness. If you take out eh more than 3500 deaths in China , you have less than 1500 deaths worldwide. No matter what you think, the facts are the flu is killing more people at the moment.

You're so full of hatred for the wealthy it's palpable. You think the wealthy brought this from Wuhan to the rest of the world?

International travel is accessible to a billion people on this planet. A very small percentage of those are super wealthy. Further, the wealthy travel better than we do, and they interact with far fewer people while doing so. It's a virus, transmittable primarily through uncovered coughing. It's currently in many traditionally poor countries. Stop bashing people wealthier than you. It makes you seem bitter and trashy.

The reason this spreads is because of poor hygiene, not extravagant jet-setting. If you're sick, stay away from others. Cover your coughs and sneezes. Wash your hands often. It's really not that difficult.

You think that the market crashing, sports seasons ending, and travel restrictions are all based off objective reasoning? 0.2% of people under the age of 60 who were sick enough to actually know they had something wrong and took the precaution to go the hospital have died from this.

~40 in the US have died from Covid-19. Since January 1st, nearly 60,000 Americans have died from complications due to obesity. If we were objective about things, but still over-reacted to them, we would be burning Coca-Cola headquarters to the ground while executing Mars Inc. upper management in the streets. Fortunately we don't lose all sense of reality for every setback encountered.

In some ways it should be an easy decision. If all other sports are still suspended at the point they need to make a decision then it should be easy. I imagine they will be receiving a lot of media enquires and pressure will grow to make a statement soon. Supposedly there will be an announcement on the weekend.

Yeah but at the same time don't spew it in the other direction.

From what we know it's 3% on average at worst. That is "10X more deadly than the flu" but it's also not a reason to freak out.

Most people won't catch it. Of those that do, a very small percentage are at risk of death.

So agree with yourself and let's keep it realistic.

I'm not freaking out. I'm just annoyed at those who continue to say it's the common cold. It's not. Those who continue to say so are pushing an agenda that's a few weeks old. Even those higher ups who stated a few weeks ago that it was akin to the common cold have changed their tune.

Further, and far more pertinent, is that ~ 280,0000 are dying every year from a preventable catalyst, and that will continue to grow year after year. Smart personal hygiene and a possible vaccine will relegate this to a "remeber when" situation. Eventually people will realize the sky is not falling, and everyone will move on to the next news cycle.

If you are under 60, you are nearly 100x more likely to die from cancer than from COVID, and that is IF YOU HAVE ALREADY CONTRACTED COVID!
