Ping iBlade vs i210: High Spinning Players Cavity Heads Testing

the general consensus is the s55 spun less and overall performed better. iblades were shorter for a lot of players. Try both sets off of grass. There was a reason so many tour pro's had s55 back in bags and so few went to iblades

I am thinking the new i59 coming this summer will be a better performing version than the iblade gen 1 .. supposed it is going to be a gen 2 iblade, I may be wrong

0 to +1 handicap and admittedly I am a Ping fanboy when it comes to their irons, I have played the i3 blade, S59, i5, S56, iE1 and currently I play the i210 6-UW with i500 5 iron. Personally like someone else said I put the UW (50*) in the bag because its primary (99% of the time) a full swing club for me. I also have a shallow angle of attack and have never had a problem with any of the ping irons I have played, especially the i210s. Ping does a good job of beveling back the trailing edge to make it not play so chunky.

Awesome question! Coming into the fit I had my eyes on a potential change to Bridgestone Tour B XS if my spin was an issue. Only problem with was it was soft off the driver (~3mph slower than Tour BX and Prov1x) and spinny off the driver too. I tried Tour B XS with the ping iBlade after and was able to get my spin around 6,700 with my high spin shots being just passed 7,000!

And sorry, I never answered your question! I don't notice a lack of stopping power on the greens while I'm playing. But went to the same spot last year on the GCQuad and struggled with spin again. Could be the golf mat being a large proponent of it from what others have said on this forum and else where. I don't think their mats were the best in the business ; I know you can get mats (ones that the boys at TXG use) that are identical to grass for numbers on good strikes as shown by their videos. Sucks leaving another element that you are guessing at and not getting fit properly on

Hitting off of mats will lower spin most of the time, I typically say 500rpm on average strikes. Sometimes you'll get a "flier" that is high up on the face and spin drops dramatically and I remove those shots from the data pool. If the fitter is good, you're not really guessing as much as you're scientifically making a decision knowing the mats drop spin. What were your landing angles and peak heights?

It is normally the opposite and why I was fit in the i210. I was fit on turf at Sea Island by their Ping Guru. He said the i210 worked so well for me because I dig more and the bounce and sole design on the i210 would have me digging less and help eliminate the fat miss. I've played all kinds of irons over the years and the smaller sole players irons have always dug more for me du to having less bounce. The rule of thumb normal is less bounce digs more and more bounce with wider sole digs less. After I got my i210's I lover them! Played them for about 2 months and they gave them to a kid that needed a set. I tried PXG GEN3's after that. I still can't get the Pings out of my head and will probably be ordering another set. They performed excellent and felt even better!

Hi op

I've been playing the i200 4-5 and iBlade 6-pw paired with Steelfiber i110cw, I just think they are money, I got power spec on mine just to hit my window , and take a small amount of bounce out the sole, I prefer the iBlade for the shorter irons , i feel i can flight them slightly better , but the i200 long irons are fantastic launch and workable , who doesn't like that , ping have had fantastic lines, and these just feel amazing, always been a forged MB / CB player. That elastomer insert really has a lot to answer for ..

MofoJ, In fact I am a digger, some of my buddies think I am digging trenches, but the divots are just fine, about dollar bill length and they stay in one piece (mostly), the i210s did well for me too, it came down to the numbers and dispersion, I was a bit better overall with the iBlade...funny thing is that at the fitting for my wedges, all of them are at 8* of bounce (makes no sense, I am a digger) but they work wonderfully for me...

I've tried the i200's, i210's, iblades and now currently game a combo of the i500's and blueprints. I still keep my eye open for any iblades that match my specs (x flex, orange dot) because they are that good. The turf interaction for myself is much better than the i2XX series. In all honestly I didn't see that much difference in forgiveness in the 7-P between the blueprint/iblades to warrant a switch but from 6 iron on up I could notice a difference.
