Taylormade MG2 is there a full RAW version on tour?

Is there a full RAW version on tour in the MG2 or are they players using the chromed version with the RAW face?

we stripped that black finish off and it turned out pretty nicely as an "all raw" option

They're using the chrome version with the raw face, based on WITB pics and TV coverage from before the shutdown. But it has looked like Tiger might be using a raw version from some pics I've seen.

^ Not sure if the TMs coating is the same, but I stripped the black coating of my PM grind by soaking in vinegar overnight, little work with the scrubber pad and its full raw and rusting nicely.

Unfortunately, the black wedges with the finish stripped off to bring them to “raw” are just never quite the same as actual raw wedges. They just don’t rust as well, and they have a different, firmer (nearly “clicky”) feel.

To answer the original question all of the wedges on tour are raw. They have some black finished ones for certain guys but the guys don’t like a coated wedge as it loses spin

I am Not the only one locally , but my MG2 faces still do Not have rust forming on them. I have had them in play for months until the shutdown. This puzzles me along with a good friend, that played on the Web.com Tour for years and now is a master fitter and State Open champion in multiple states. His MG2's direct from Taylormade, have no rust on the face either. The Demo wedges that were sent in and have never been outside have a very rusted face. My assumption would be the plant uses a slightly different metal and or coating? Who knows, just strange. My MG2's are awesome and the best wedges I have played to date.

What is your climate like? High or low humidity? How do you clean the face of the clubs?

Mid-Atlantic, very humid most of the time. Wipe the face with a wet towel when dirty. No metal brushes.

Did we figure out yet how they did this? I know I have used CLR and vinegar with scotch brite pads on black Vokeys. Assuming it won't affect the polymer insert?

@TrueWRX We really did it as a test to see how it would look and honestly didn't have much on course testing with it. I'll try to see if i can do a little work with it to see

I ended up going the MyHi-Toe route in Raw for both 52 and 58 and couldn't be happier.

The MG2’s spin a ton more then the hi toes. I have a 60 in a hi toe as I think they are great lob wedges but don’t love them for full shots

Well for me on trackman it was averaged about 500 rpm difference and got as high as 750 on some. Yeah I was testing the 56 against each other and that is a full face as well. I have love the combo of MG2 50 and 56 with a 60 Hi Toe

the lower spin on he hi toe is also consistent with what MGS found in their testing

Won’t the hi toe always spin a little less than another comparable standard wedge, because of the higher center of gravity? I never really thought of spin as a reason to consider the hi toe, but rather the versatility on shots around the green.

i am not a club engineer so I don’t know why but the versatility for me was the reason I went with the lob wedge in hi toe
