Highly Recommend Wilson D7 Forged Irons

Just a public service announcement.

First round with them was a little iffy. Yesterday they were amazing. I played my bosses country club, was playing with the Maxfli Softfli (yes country club greens, 2 piece ball), every green I hit the ball was within 2 feet of the divot.

The guys in the group probably commented 20x how pure they sound when I hit them and when I hit them well it barely made a sound.

The mishits are what really stood out, I mishit one that I swore didnt reach the green. My boss had hit his shot before me and I saw a ball like 10 feet from the hole so i figured that was his. Sure enough when I got up there, that was mine and his was the one on the front edge of the green.

Of course the golf gods just like to toy with me, had a two day golf trip planned this wkend but due to rain think we have to cancel. I have that awesome round yesterday, absolutely dying to play again, and its rain for the next 5 days here in STL.

By the way I'm a 14hcp and used to play Ping G30 Irons so you dont need to be good to play these irons lol

Nice write-up, and congrats. To be honest, I recently picked up a set of C300 Forged irons on closeout, and they are phenomenal irons. They were actually tops in my bag for a couple of weeks, but the stock KBS Tour 105 shafts were giving me some elbow pain. The irons are good enough that I think I am going to have my guy at Club Champion re-shaft them with some Elevates or Steelfibers or something like that.

I am similarly in the 15HC range, and over several rounds, I don't think I had one shot where I felt the C300 Forged were too demanding. I can't say that much about other players' irons I have hit. Look great, feel great, and terrific turf interaction. And yes, I am lumping the C300 Forged and D7 Forged together, as I believe they are along the same lines.

Great write-up. Just saw those irons did well in the latest MGS test. Played with a set of FG Tour M3's a few years back that were fantastic. Since then always had my eye on Wilson but haven't moved on from my Srixons. Similar handicap, may need to go scratch the itch and try these out. Hope that rain turns away, looking like same boat this weekend in south Florida with the storm coming in.

These irons were quite highly reviewed on another site, the looks and performance are top notch apparently for the price tag. I happen to be a big fan of W/S in general - they can be tough to find in a store to demo, and the resale value isn't what other OEMs offer, but if you buy used you're guaranteed a deal.

I recently picked up a set myself. I think they are really really good clubs. Feel and look is very good. My only glitch is that I'm more of a picker. I think this clubs do better with a swing that hits more down than mine. I've really started to buy in to the VCOG measurement of a club as something to consider for me personally. It may may not matter too much to someone else. The VCOG is quite high with these. I played at True Blue a month ago, and the fairways were in phenomenal shape. I was getting down on the ball very easily as the grass was darn near teeing it up a little bit. They were MONEY. In the time since and on different courses and some tighter lies I hit a number of thinner shots.

Overall, I think they are wonderful clubs. I have the stock KBS in now, but thinking about putting my old favorite Modus 120 in and seeing how they react.

Had the c300 for two years. Good irons and the power holes were a non issue. The HMP’s are super forgiving so I ended up making a switch.

I am very much a Wilson guy. Highly underrated gear. They've come back a long way. As a previous poster mentioned, I was also able to pick up a set of C300 forged on closeout a while back. Absolutely fantastic irtons. I've always been a Mizuno forged type, and these feel and perform every bit as good. I was only able to waggle the new D7 forged, but couldn't see anything that would make me want to change, but as with all things Wilson, they will have a price drop sooner than most brands. I'm sure I'll grab them then for sure.

Bringing back this topic......I'm setting up a demo with local rep for D7 forged.....seeing if there's anymore success stories out in wrx land?

I haven't played them out on the course but I did hit them outside off turf. They are a hotter version of the Forged C300's. Very nice feel. Very impressive irons.

The look nice to me.  I don't care about the slots on bottom. TM certainly does it in a more appealing way for me but I don't look down at the sole.

You're not kidding!  When I was trying out new clubs, the shop set me up with some Wilson, Cleveland, and Ping irons; and some Wilson, Srixon, and Callaway woods.  Hands-down, I was able to hit the Wilson offerings the most consistently out of everything I'd tried...ultimately though, the shop was able to cut me a better deal on the clubs I wound up buying, but I'll definitely be looking harder at Wilson in the future!

It's your loss. Obviously you put a greater value on looks than some do. I think they look very nice at address. That's where it counts.
