Tom was absolutely correct. The KLPGA, and its two feeder series, is more than enough to prepare the Korean players for a career on the LPGA. Heck, I can't remember the last top Korean player that spent any time playing college golf in the U.S. Eight of the last eleven rookies of the year came directly from the KLPGA.

I noticed the same with Brooke, she was a sniper with her i200 series irons when she first came on tour and there was a big adjustment when she switched to the i400 series.  IMO she's still no where near as consistent with them as she was with the i200 series

i400? Brooke switched from i200s to i210s last season. The i210 has less spin than the i200, which is the main reason I haven't dumped my i200s. I need all the spin I can get.

She's played G400 driver and woods for a few seasons now. Don't think she's made the switch to the G410 released last year.

As a fast player, I feel for Sei Young and Nelly. Waiting on every shot sucks. Kudos to both of them for keeping patient. I'd be losing my mind.

Grant asked the question early in the round, is it better to be a fast player playing with another fast player, or a slow player? I agree with Karen, definitely better to be paired with another fast player.

What can you do?  It's the vagaries of the women's professional game.  Most women do not have equipment sponsorship (as in pay to play them vs. providing equipment at no charge), so when you are a player like Brooke, who I believe is paid to play Ping, then it's almost a "must do" for them to upgrade to the newest versions of clubs.  It's probably written into their sponsorship agreements.

I felt bad for Xiyu (Janet) Lin who went to get new irons last week and the Mizuno reps made her pay for them out her own pocket.  Lisa Cornwell spoke about it, apparently on air, but most definitely on Twitter (see below).   That just does not happen in the men's game ... you could be ranked 300 in the world and have equipment sponsored.  The men may not be paid to play them, but they definitely do not pay for their equipment.

Oops brain cramp, Brooke IMO still played better with 200 probably cause she grips down and uses longer irons to compensate.  And honestly she could use the 400's now I haven't check her bag this year, Covid put pause on everything and I wasn't really focusing on the LPGA till it came back.

Just checked the Ping site and yes she's using the i210's

Rookies need to be inside Top-80 in current year official money to qualify for ANA; Haley didn’t make it.

AND ....the field was set back in March. Same reason Popov is not in and Daniel Berger is not in this years Masters. He is now 13th in the owgr but was 106th at the qualifying cut off for the original dates.

Definitely enjoying the tournament, but the course needs to grow some teeth. We're on track to set a record for low score in a major.

No, you're wrong.  The field was finalized after Walmart NWA Championship on Sunday, August 30, 2020.

The reason Sophia Popov isn't in the field is because her $675,000 winning at AIG  and her Marathon Classic winning aren't official money, because she wasn't a LPGA member.  Her official money earned is $0.00; which doesn't get her qualified for ANA.

I imagine the predicted forecast scared them, they couldn't go all US open on the greens and risk losing them lol  Also there hasn't been any wind as of yet.

I will go with we are both correct. The field was set back in April. They also added to that the top20 money winners this year and that is where you are correct about her earnings not counting. I was not aware of the addition of the top 20 this year.

Because the LPGA’s majors are out of order due to COVID-19, Popov’s five-year exemption won’t start until 2021. An LPGA official explained that since the ANA field was basically filled when the tour had to shut down, they’ve chosen to honor that field. The only exemption adjustment was changing the cutoff for top 20 on the money list.

You can't call the course toothless when the cutline is trending towards +4.

Nelly Korda simply played two exceptional rounds.

In Gee Chun set the major record of -21 at 2016 Evian Championship; that record won't be touched.

You're wrong again.

The Top-20 leading money rule has been there every year; year after year.

Sure it is. And the field was set back in April. They could have done what Augusta did and left it at that. They moved the cutoff for the top 20 on the money list.

But fine, I am wrong. My wife has told me that before.

But Whan stood by the decisions in a video statement he made at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship on Friday afternoon.

“As it relates to the 2020 ANA Inspiration, we set that field back in March right before we thought we were going to play,” he said. “We did that for one reason. We wanted to make sure that anyone who has qualified to play in this year’s ANA Inspiration was set. You couldn’t play your way out of it now after restarts and COVID stops. Anything that happens after we set that field, we’ll address in future years. I’m pretty sure that’s the same as the Masters. They set their field back in March, April, and now if you win a tournament on the PGA Tour you’re qualifying for the 2021 Masters, not the November 2020 Masters.”

And you are both correct.  If I remember correctly, and I am not saying that I am on this point ?, but the reason that players like Kelly Tan, and rookies Patty, Yealimi, Yui, etc. qualified, is through the Arkansas event (I mean qualified at the conclusion  of the Walmart tourney).

If I am incorrect, then I will bow down and prostrate myself virtually for @18majors and @shilgy      Won't be a pretty sight ?

Okay, explain to me why Danielle Kang played a ricochet shot off the off the wall on 15 instead of taking an unplayable lie. Didn't seem like the smart play since the ball could have easily hit her. Not to mention that she had virtually zero chance to put herself in a better position playing that shot instead of taking the drop.

But wouldn't she have to measure the drop from the wall or where the ball  is a foot from the wall?  There was a very big tree that might had block the shot after the drop and hitting it off the wall she just got her ball far enough to have a shot.

I'm not sure the ball richochet more than 2 club lengths though I could be wrong. If it did it wasn't much further. But why take the chance on the ball hitting you or your club? The ball could have gone any direction off the wall as it is not a flat wall if I'm recalling right.

I thought the ball went about 10-12 feet off the wall, I could be wrong too.  Really all options were pretty bad cause even a drop could have sunk right down to the bottom of the grass.

No penalty any more for ball hitting you

Lexi had a nice round that could have been even better she put herself back in a great position, Brooke probably hoped for better but probably got the best score she could with her play, 6 fairways and 12 greens take the -1 and run lol.  It looks like not many player took advantage in the afternoon.  Lydia went backwards which is a little surprising and Danielle was kicking it around the course like Brooke.  A couple Am put themselves in a nice spot no surprise it's the finalists of the US Ams
