Project X 6.5 LZ vs Modus3 Pro 120X

I have only hit both in stiff demoing TM P770.  I currently play the LZ 6.0.  IMO the modus 120 plays softer than the LZ.  For me, the modus launched higher and had a more pronounced kick than the LZ.  My previous shaft was the recoil proto 125 F4.  That shaft was right in the middle of the modus and the LZ.

Modus 120 is very soft in the butt section which translates to softer feel. But the overall shaft is firmer, which is why people like Henrik Stenson get along just fine with 120X.

PX LZ has a stiffer butt, softer middle, stiffer tip which is more like the Nippon Tour125. I don't find it nearly as smooth as any Nippon out there. Was not impressed the few times I tried it. More of a snap/jerk feel than a snap/release feel. And boardier.

I dont' get along with Tour120 all that well since I have pronounced late release / lag and the soft 120 feel doesn't jive with me. But the shaft is not soft, it feels soft.

This is just a little off. I believe the modus tour’s whole thing is that it’s stiffer in the tip and but and very soft in the mid section.

I have hit both of these shafts and currently play Px LZ 6.0’s in all irons and wedges. The modus120 will feel and play softer for the majority of ppl, also the LZ 6.5 is 125 grams and 120x is 120 grams. I have not hit the modus 120 tx flex but have been told by a handful of ppl that tried it, that is feels like a different profile from modus120x flex. Weighs more and is a bit more linear without that pronounced kick.

Not the X, but I did a comparison of these in stiff twice in the last week, both with the Trackman measuring. I currently game the PX LZ 6.0

  • Indoor fitting - Modus had a higher dispersion and did not hit as well as the PX. Not horrible, just not as good (retail store)
  • Outdoor fitting - Modus 120 had higher launch and spin than the PX LZ 6.0 (club demo day)

It is worth noting that the indoor fitting was using my usual TP5x balls where the outdoor was range balls. The outdoor was also odd in that it was giving me half the launch angle that I see during my Trackman sessions and 30 yards less distance.

For me, I will take whichever one is more readily available because I'm more likely to affect the ball flight than the shaft. I'm keeping the PX LZ's for now, especially since I have the clubs already on order based on the indoor fitting

Soft/Stiff/Stiff when compared to other shafts, not a baseline of Mid/Mid/Mid. You'd have to lay over the graphs to see it. Put a Tour120, Tour125 and a Dynamic Golf on the same chart and look at the EIs.

Looking for some feedback. Currently playing T150’s with PX LZ 6.0. Reading through various threads, the consensus seems to be the LZ’s can play soft to flex. I really like the weight, spin and trajectory of the shafts, but I’m losing about 3/4ths of my shots out to the left. 7 iron SS is in the 92-94 mph range confirmed on both Trackman and my personal BLP. I really have to slow my tempo down and feel like I’m swinging out to the right (I’m RH) to keep the ball on my target line. I also prefer to play a fade and when I start the ball left as intended, it simply stays out to the left. Is it possible I’m overpowering the 6.0’s at my SS?

Would the Modus 120x be a suitable shaft to try? Or maybe the LZ 6.5? I’d like to stay in the 120 gram range.

I would give the 6.5s a try. 92-94 definitely isnt slow.  I feel like the Modus 120s are a completely different animal so if you like the 6.0s but want to tighten it up a bit try the 6.5s.

I would try standard PX 6.0
