Yeah, after seeing this picture I’m 100% ready to get back to talking about Golf, Lol!!

 

@MikeW2 the people in your neck of the woods must be gluttons for punishment to wait for 3.5 hrs for this stuff…Ugh!!

That's them! I had to buy 12 of them and my wife has eaten three a day. When she wasn't eating them she was trying to convince me to try one again.  There is nothing on earth that would make me eat that again.  I wholeheartedly believe that you could use them to torture prisoners. Just awful.

Well my fellow Golf nuts, I just played Cabot Cliffs today for my first time ever, and I was absolutely blown away!!

 

Obviously expectations were very high for a course ranked #1 in Canada, and some rank Top 5 in the World!

 

But somehow it still ended up being better than I expected!! Hands down the nicest course, and best Golfing experience I’ve ever had…and the views were absolutely breathtaking!!

 

I’m in LOVE, and this will be a trip I’ll look forward to once a year hopefully!! 😍😍

Got really lucky Matt…the weather was puuuuuuurfect!!!

 

18 degrees (Celsius for my American friends) and sunny all day, no humidity, and almost no wind. Doesn’t get much better for mid-October!!

 

And absolutely man, you’re always welcome in the Maritimes!!

Sounds great to me my man…I’m trying to play as many of those as possible too!!

 

We’re blessed with so much natural beauty in Canada that it’s not surprising we’ve got some incredible Golf courses too!

Yeah, it’s absolutely incredible. And as beautiful as the pictures are, it’s even more breathtaking in person.

 

I was thinking about it on the drive home today…Cabot Cliffs could actually be a candidate for one of the natural wonders of the World. I’ve seen some of the other ones, and I would put Cabot right up there with any of them!!

Yeah for sure. Have to have lots of disposable $$$ to play all the Top 50 courses in Canada for sure!!

Honestly, it was like playing Golf in a dream, or being alive inside the PGA 2K23 video game man…totally surreal!!

 

The ball markers are very cool for sure! They actually do custom engraving too, so got my initials on the back.

Yeah, definitely recommend it for sure…pretty incredible!!

 

The only things I would say just to offer a fully balanced perspective are:

 

1) Unfortunately Cabot is in a pretty rural part of Cape Breton and is 3.5 hrs from Halifax and the airport. And since it’s a small community, there’s not much there except for Golf.

 

2) No power carts…everyone has to walk, and it’s a pretty challenging walk.

 

3) Cost. Very expensive for Non-Residents, especially during peak season.

 

But as far as the Golfing experience, and the views…those are the best I’ve ever experienced from any Golf course without a doubt!

Good info. I like walking but you definitely have to be in the right frame of mind for it. Good to know ahead of time. Imagine the people that show up unaware! (has to happen occasionally).
 

Sounds like you really have to want it to make this one happen. Not an easy trip, but in fairness some of the best national parks I’ve been to have been the most remote. Thins out the less serious.

Exactly. Definitely out of the way, but worth the effort for sure!

 

And absolutely, I bet guys show up all the time not knowing that there’s no carts, Lol!

 

Everyone just assumes there’s power carts at every Golf course, so especially one that’s as exclusive as Cabot Cliffs/Links, most people wouldn’t imagine that not being an option.

 

Not a problem for me, but I have buddies that never walk, so that takes Cabot off their list. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I’ve been thinking about picking up a new putter to test out for the last couple of months.

The Tri-Hot 5K Double Wide is really good, but aesthetically I have to be honest that I prefer the traditional look of a well crafted chrome Blade.

 

Picked this beauty up to put head-to-head vs my Tri-Hot…should be a fun matchup!!

I don’t mind the Odyssey inserts and have had success with them. Definitely a totally different feel from a milled Blade though for sure. 
 

Feel, performance, and aesthetics with putters are definitely very subjective…probably more so than any other club.

 

I definitely agree that no other putter has the sound and feel of a Scotty coming off the face though…there’s just something about it!!

The roll and sound off the face from the Scotty won me over though…love the sound and feel!!

Oh I'll stand by it, he'd make more money selling the insert technology to TM/Odyssey/etc than making putters.  It feels perfect and the roll off of the HSM (hole-seeking-material) is unmatched.  

 

If you can find one that you like the look of, I'd totally recommend it (the gray insert feels perfect, the black is a little too soft in my opinion).
