Hahaha!!! Man, with the cost of gas in Canada (about double the cost in the U.S.), it would end up being almost the same cost as a flight.

 

And then there’s the time issue of 2 days there, 2 days back.

 

Might do a road trip to Boston this year though. We’ll probably schedule it so we can do a Celtics game and get a round or 2 of Golf in too! 😎👌🏽

That sounds like a good plan and you’re going to have plenty of time since we’re probably playing I well into June this year🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 then in 2024🏆

As a Raptor fan I have to begrudgingly admit that the Celts should be favourites to be in the in the Eastern Conference Finals vs the Bucks this season…but predicting them as Back-to-Back Champs is definitely going way too far man, Lol!!

It’s hard to resist, growing up we were in the finals basically every year and I became spoiled. Took franchise a long time to recover from the untimely passings of Len Bias and Reggie Lewis then that unfortunate Rick Pitino era🤮 Now there’s that vibe surrounding the team that they are them dudes and I 100% believe Tatum is the best player in the east and thusly my irrational arrogant fandom has returned. So we’ll see, should be fun especially if they do get matched up vs Dame Giannis and the rest of the Bucks.

The Celtics have all the pieces to be great and contend for a Championship. I’d be excited if I were a Celtics fan too!

I promised an update on my Nike Method Matter refinishing project. So here’s how it ended up.

 

The professionals were telling me they’d only refinish it to Stainless Steel, or they’d have to make a new insert with a 3D printer. And the quotes were too expensive when they weren’t going to do what I was asking for.

 

So instead I did it myself. For context, I painted my own bikes in Middle School/High School, painted my own cars in University, and painted my own houses as an adult, so I definitely have some skills (although never painted Golf clubs other than paint fill).

 

So here’s the before and after. Was fun to attempt, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out:

Yep Stu, had one former member offer me a quite high sum of money for my Method 001 that was made for me personally by Dave Franklin at Nike Oven facility. Looks like you did an outstanding job looks great. Personally for me and as always this is just me I would have played it like it was. There is just something about me and banged up sometimes lead taped putters and clubs.

One of the many reasons I have so many clubs. One of my Ironmasters I call "Kenny" because a guy named Kenny gave it to me when I was 14 years old. He was the guy who helped cement my love for Macgregor clubs. He was a Charlotte firefighter and died from cancer in like 90 or so. I would never sell a club that someone has gifted me. You are involved in the story that includes a certain set of Macgregor VIPs. Due to my back issues I can not play them on a regular basis but still hit them some. Same way with the Ping Zing BECU LW that @cardoustie gave me a few years back. I do not play it regularly and could sell it but I will not. Same with the Old Man's FC-4000s that have been in the family since 1962. When I play FCs I play the set another WRXer sent me about 5 years ago now and those are not for sale either. For me all tell a pleasant story

Haha…yeah, we’re definitely different there. The utility of clubs is very important, but I also think they’re a type of art and I love the aesthetics of them also.

Yeah, we’ll see how the new paint and and finish hold up over time. Will be interested to see how it will wear for sure.

 

Here is the paint and clear coat that I used, and a couple of pictures of the process.

 

I chose this header paint because I liked that it was flat black and not glossy, and figured if it’s flameproof and can handle 2000-degrees, it can handle some friction and water/dirt, Lol.

 

And the clear coat is matte finish also, and meant for vehicles, so should also be durable and weatherproof.

 

We’ll see, time will tell!

Hope everybody in cold weather areas are hanging in there and doing Ok so far without Golf…Ugh!

 

Just a quick putter update. I’ve been rolling my 3 putters consistently (custom Nike Method Matter, Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K Double Wide, and Scotty Cameron Special Select Squareback 2), and I have a clear favourite.

 

My rankings were becoming clear, and might surprise some of you:

 

1) Custom Nike Method Matter

 

2) Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K DW

 

3) Scotty Cameron Squareback 2

 

I love the feel and control of the Nike, and it rolls puuuure!! The Odyssey is a pretty close 2nd. And the Scotty, I just couldn’t get the weighting right, and had the worst performance and control with it.

 

So I flipped the Scotty, and the Nike putter is the favourite currently to be my gamer in the Spring! Testing will continue though, but that’s my current status:

Yeah absolutely, there’s something very special about a club you customize with your own hands.

 

We’ll see how it rolls on-course once the season starts, but I think it’s going to be reallllllly good!!
