Will your posts make more sense after we’ve been here for a few years?

____

If this worked with any ball, I’d absolutely buy this hypothetical product. The leaves start falling in early September here, and we can often play up to Thanksgiving or later.

You can spend 5 minutes flipping over leaves trying to find a golf ball in the fairway. At $200 this would pay for itself inside of a month.

So yes, I’d back this on Kickstarter

Perhaps the most apt avatar I've ever seen.  A simple "not interested" would have sufficed.

Sweet, peanut gallery has shown up...

Also curious how someone can lose $200 in balls in a month if it somehow pays for itself within that time frame...  How bad are you?

How bad are you at READING and looking at a calendar?  He said early September to Thanksgiving, gotta be at least two months and maybe closer to 3 depending on the year.

I don't think it matters what time of year it is...  To lose that many balls is embarrassing...

Just confirms you're about as embarrassing as losing $200 worth of balls in a short period of time.

I’ve had similar days, and couldn’t be less embarrassed about it. s*** happens, we all have bad days, and we all had to learn how to play at some point.

What’s embarrassing to me is the people who act like they came out of the womb a zero, have never lost a ball, (they just toss them after a few holes because they can feel the drop off), s*** on anything designed to help your game...  all the blowhard talk that gives the sport a bad name. I can’t imagine having an opinion about a golf product I don’t want or need, and would never buy.

And for the record, I meant $200 over the course of the fall season when every inch of the course is covered in leaves. But $200 might have been a lowball, truthfully. You can find about as many as you lose, but somehow they’re never even close to the quality of the ball you lost track of. Dying to have that explained to me

Oh, the opposite happened to me on that day!  I teed up a Titleist #3 DT So/Lo and hit it into the bushes.  I found what I thought was my ball (a Titleist #3) and finished out the hole, shooting an even par, only to discover I'd played out the hole with a Titleist #3 Pro V1.

Have been continually researching options since my OP a couple of weeks ago (and months before posting). Am encouraged by the Yes’s and the Maybe’s in the poll.  Unfortunately, the cost for putting the pieces together for the tech is much too expensive, and will be shelving the idea for now.

Thanks for your time to the folks that responded legitimately and tried to keep the thread on track.

Playing a course with deep rough or fescue just off the fairway and something like this could be useful, mainly for speeding up play. The big question is, how would it work without altering the ball in any way? Also, if it's a popular spot you could end up finding 10 other balls before finding your own. Not sure it's feasible but I'd be interested in hearing more about how it would work.

I was imagining a sort of paint or ink that you'd mark your ball with, then use a scope or camera of some sort that's tuned into the paint.  That's the only way I would foresee this gadget being feasible for all balls, and for under $200.  But, I'm not OP.
