Ogio Woode

Finally the Woode is on their website. 

Can’t wait to hear some reviews here. Interested in a range to cart bag, and have been eyeballing the Sun Mountain ls 4.5 14 and now the Ogio!

I have an original Grom with the woode top, it wasn't a light weight either. But, the 15 x 16 seems kind of big?

What's the stand mechanism like?  I have a Burton CSX that I like a lot because of flex base stand and the heavy-duty materials.  I do miss  the Woode organizer though.

looks like it holds a bunch.  benefit for those that will need rainsuits or sweaters.

the top pattern is a plus. I'd always favored keeping woods and a hybrid off to the side.

just peeked at their new bags - the Radar Waves pattern is amazing.

Going to have a look at these. Its going to be all about the top but the stand mechanism is important too. I checked my PGASS and they did not have them yet.

My impatience might get the better of me....maybe.  I'm tempted to pull the trigger on the black but it's soooooo bland.  The Radar Waves looks amazing, but won't be available for 6-8 weeks

Think of the black as the background and your headcovers as the pizzazz...😉

OMG... I was just thinking a couple of days ago, while taking something out of my old old Grom, why Ogio stopped making Woode top. It was far better than these annoying 14 way tops. 

Not a big fan of hybrid bag though. I had the original Sun Mountain one years ago. It was far too big and heavy to be a carry bag, and the legs kept getting in the way on push cart. I guess now I hardly actually carry size and weight may not be as big a deal. Looking forward to see this in person.

Saw one yesterday in PGASS. I guess they had just come in. Only had one. Its a hard pass for me. This top is a solution to a problem no one had. Its too bulky, too ugly and the plastic is going to be terrible for graphite shaft wear. I'm thinking this one will not sell and not last in their lineup.

IMO that's one of the ugliest tops. Not golf no matter how OCD it is.

I guess you never did use one of the earlier Ogio with Woode top? Those were the best at organizing clubs until they switched over to 14 way tops. You should have seen the pages and pages of discussion at that time people were trying to figure out what the best way was to use the 14 way top. In reality the 14 way top is actually an half a** solution for a so called problem and really didn't do anything for it. One of the first 14 way top was the Silencer. It was meant to lock in each club so they don't bang into each other. However almost no one liked the extra effort to lock in clubs so the locking feature was gone but the 14 way stayed. 

 

I don't disagree that the plastic opening does make it look quite bulky, and I hope that opening is rubber instead of hard plastic. The original Woode had soft fabric covered slots so wear was not an issue at all. I loved the Woode way of arrangement, having all the woods on one side away from the irons. It holds the graphite shafted woods snugly while providing plenty of room on the iron side, especially useful if you keep some extra clubs in the bag, like for practice. Keeping extra clubs is quite a challenge with 14 way top. 

 

As I mentioned before, I am also not sure about the hybrid form factor. They used to make Grom and Exodus\Edge back around 2010, both had Woode top, but Exodus and Edge is considerably larger than Grom and was considered more of a hybrid. Turned out that they are really more a cart bag with legs and you give up some pocket space as well.

No you’re wrong. I had 3 different bags with Woode tops. The new bag just plain sucks because of the plastic top.

Ok I guess I was not wrong that the original Woode top was awesome. 

I am not too sure about this new version since I haven't seen it in person. It does look bulky but I think it might still be better than those silly 14 way tops.

The original Woode was a great design. This new one looks like it was done by the same designers that did the new BMW beaver teeth front grilles. Trash.

My current bag is a 2008 Ogio Ozone with the Woode top, and it’s a nice soft material. The bag has held up well, all zippers work and the legs fold out fine. The only thing wrong (besides being dirty) is the rubber bottom on one of the legs came off, so I hit it with some rubberized tape. 
 

I’d have to see it, slide some clubs in and out before purchase. I’m leaning towards a Sun Mountain 4.5 or a C130 stand bag 🧐 maybe something in the hybrid/ range to cart category 🤔

WOW 2008? that's amazing! I had an Ozone from around that time and it lasted 1 day before the side ripped end to end. Ogio replaced it under warranty but gave me a Grom instead because they didn't have anymore Ozone in the camo color I had. That Grom was seriously the best bag I have ever had. Yes I lost the rubber bottom as well, so I wrapped it up with a bunch of duct tape. The grey urban camo faded in the sun over the years and it became pink camo.. 🤣 and it just didn't break. I only stopped using it because the "nice pink bag" joke became a bit too much..🤣🤣🤣🤣

The bag I kept longer than any other was an Ogio with the Schling system. I can't remember the name of the bag but it had the zipper less ball pocket and Woode top. It lasted forever. The legs did sag but the rest of the bag was built like a tank. After that I had 2 other bags with Woode tops, an Ozone and a Grom. Neither one of those bags lasted at all. Quality seems to go down a good bit then. The Grom was decent but the Ozone didn't last a season when I was still carrying. Now what I long for would be the RTC series with the original Woode top, not the plastic crap. That would be nice.

we share the experience, m2c - I have a C130 that stays downstairs holding old gear for the same reason.

lasted a good five years before the bright red became Avon Dusky Pink.

LOL.. well I can imagine red fades into pink.. but my bag was grey and white.. I don't even know how it became pink. 🤣

Ugly as sin ... I’m not one for looks normally, it’s 90% functionality for me. But I can’t look past that top. Too much going on. I’ll keep repping my OGIO Convoy.

Thank you.  I have an original Woode Grom and that layout works so well for push cart (left handed version would be the ultimate).

Way back in the early-mid 2000's Izzo made a push cart bag called the Element which is exactly as you describe. When the pushing the cart the woods were on the right and irons on the left. As someone who pushed with their right hand it was perfect for me. It also had an external putter tube which I prefer over the ones integrated into the bag. It also had plenty of storage without being too big. I actually wore the bag out. It was the absolutely perfect push cart bag so they discontinued it.😠 For about 10yrs I sent them an email to bring it back but they never did. I'd buy one tomorrow and a back up if I could.
