It's hasn't been so funny lately from my end!🤬

Although yesterday I did figure out that NOT aiming the clubface way too far right and my body miles to the left makes those Pro V1's go a darned sight straighter. Who'd have thought it?

Here's a fun one for those of you that haven't seen it yet.

They mention at the end why they did not test Bridgestone... apparently they are not sold in the UK.

They must not have looked very hard….

Soooo, anybody loving the BX as much as I am? 😅

Ive been loving it but have noticed what I think is a drop in distance with driver compared to the ball I used to play which is the 2019 TP5.

I was surpised at this and realise these days the ball companies say dont worry about swing speed but I wonder if at about 100mph Im just not getting enough out of it.  Bridgestone says 105 is the cut off.

I tried the BX because (1) the TP5 had too much spin on wedge shots and (2) the 2021 TP5X was scuffing up too easily.  Hence my search for a new gamer.

Is it possible Im not swinging fast enough with driver to play the BX that would cause it to be much shorter for me than TP5 with driver?

Bridgestone is still speaking the whole ball vs. swing speed message as loud as ever. Doesn't mean it's anything but a marketing gimmick but they are still on message 100%.

Having devoted the month of June to hit and course test all three listed I have to say they are all good balls. The Pro V1X actually impressed me the most. Since Titleist used the left dash casing in the new Pro V and V1X the ball is totally different in the wind and noticeably less sidespin than it's predecessor. The x also flies higher and has the most consistent green-side spin. I haven't convinced myself that I need to change to this just yet as I have too much inventory of the older balls I really like to justify purchasing more. However, if I was in a position at a course where I needed to purchase a sleeve, all three would;d be very viable candidates and I'd select the Pro V1X, Tour B, and TP5X in that order.

It has been explained to me that Bridgestone's ball speed recommendations are a basic "categorizing" of golfers.  Meaning it is a less complicated guideline to offer people through marketing on which Bridgestone ball to purchase.

That said, in addition to swing speed, launch characteristics play a significant role as well.

Using me as an example - I swing about 100 mph like you.  However, I also of an AoA of 4-6 degrees positive.  For this reason, I launch the BX high enough that it suites me better than RX... even though I have a slower swing speed.

So, if by chance you don't launch the ball high, you may find an RX, RXS, or other higher launching balls on the market that may give you the additional distance you are looking for.

Just a couple of thoughts to ponder

I have to disagree on the V1x and the greenside manners.

Last night I played the V1X and V1 in my league....it as hot and humid (102 degrees on course with 96% humidity) We just finished before massive storms rolled in.

The V1X did not behave as i thought it would. I had a hard time with distance and greenside spin.   Through 5 holes I couldnt put my finger on what was happening but when i switched to the V1, things opened up. My drives were longer, ball felt a lot better and from 50 yards and in, the ball behaved like I expected. These comparisons are all based on similar strikes though I have no data to support anything.  This was the first on course extensive use i had with the 2021 V1X and I have to be honest, I was disappointed.  I am a lifelong Titleist player and love their golf balls.  I would play the left dash if it performed better around the green because its a beast off the driver...but based on yesterdays on course testing, the V1 was noticeably better than the V1x in these conditions. The V1 was perceived to cut through the humidity and was noticeably longer but i know this is just a perception.  I thought the V1X would be a nice combo of the left dash and V1, but it didnt work for me.

I am testing the TP5X and the TP5 soon and the BRX..

Im still searching for my 2021 ball.....going broke doing it but what the H.E double hockeystix

I played the TP5x and the Chrome Soft X LS today. Driver SS is 104-108, 6 iron around 90-92

  • CSX:LS seemed "hotter" off the driver, on similar strikes, LS had 5-6 yards on the TP5x
  • TP5x feels MILES better of the putter. The CSX:LS basically disqualified itself because i've never heard a louder CLICK ever.
  • Spin around greens for me was bascially the same
  • CSX:LS seems to launch lower overall - both driver, irons and wedges
  • TP5x cover doesn't seem to be super sturdy. After 4 holes and 5 wedge shots, cover had clear scuffing on the outside. OK to still play but def. visible and you could feel them as well.

Neither ball convinced me. I'll try the BX next

is this the 2021 TP5X???  if so, has the feel improved over the 2019 version? Some are saying the lower compression of this years X model feels 100x better than the 2019 version. 7 compression points less can make a big difference.

My only gripe with the tp5x is the durability of the cover.  I can't get through a round without a few noticeable scuffs on the ball.  Was playing with the ProV1x prior and the cover was much more durable.  Still not enough of an issue to keep me from playing it.

I’ve played the BX for a while and decided to try the CS-LS.

I hated the way the LS felt off my irons. It was like hitting a rock. Any potential gain off the tee wasn’t worth it to me.

I tried the BX and got great distance off the driver with it.  Great all around ball for me except for feel.   I do prefer the feel of a medium compression ball off the irons and so have been playing the 21 Pro v1 for most of the year.  Probably losing 5 to 7 yards off the driver compared to the BX (I think off all the other clubs distance is very similar for me) but it feels so much better to me off irons and wedges that its worth the trade off.

15 - 21 feet of driver distance is nothing to worry about on the course....if you are making gains in other areas, dont worry about it.....

Im playing the chromesoft right now.....and the distance im getting off the mid irons is impressive.....it seems as if this ball is built for iron swing speed in the upper 80's to 92mph.....

id like it to be a little longer off the tee but it flies straight and i make up it with the mid irons..... it seems everyone craps on this ball but i have to be honest, it works for me....and it feels great........it may feel just a touch too soft off the driver, but who cares if you hit it straight and can hit a shorter iron into the green.

So far, my top balls for 21 are CS, v1, TP5x '

Testing TP5 this week as well but its boiling down to CS and V1 at this moment

My iron swing speed is more upper 70's than upper 80's and I find the Chrome Soft to come in a little hot on mid-short iron shots (compared to my long-time favorite Pro V1x). I tried the Chrome Soft X and it seemed to remedy that problem. In theory it should suit higher club speed players than Chrome Soft but as a short-and-low hitter it sure seems to hold greens better for me.

Or maybe it's just an artifact of something funky about my swing during the past 25-30 rounds makes it seem that way. I've been working on some swing changes and on the one hand my handicap is down a couple strokes and I seem to be making more birdies than usual. But on the other hand my ball flight and iron distances are all over the place right now, not sure what I'll see when I look up to follow an iron shot!

Try the BXS. It's as good as anything currently produced. It is noticeably softer with more green-side spin while maintaining the distance of it's brother, the BX. The ball flight off of long irons and woods is a little lower than the BX but not by much.
