I soooo do not belong on this site...lol.

I'm 58 (years, not IQ...)

Probably a 17

Best might have been 15?

13-14 would be simply lovely...

au contraire! We need more of you younger guys with up standing handicaps. I'd guess my handicap to be in the neighborhood of what yours is. :bb: I can shoot 95, and as low as 75, depends on which course it is and what day it is. ;)

I am 64, I've been playing 5 yrs

My hpc index is 11.1

I am a member at a club that is 132 slope, 6800 yrds, I walk it at least the 27 holes course every day, weather permitting,

for the 8 months of the season.

My goal/dream is to play 80 or better, I would like to walk on ANY course and tee off wihtout any fear/doubt that I

could hold anybody back. It seems to me that today, people want to play 18 holes in 3½ hrs.

I've never understood the merit or sense in rushing what is essentially a leisurely game.

Age: 54 (for 2 more months)

Index:14.2 (blue tees)

Lowest 12.9 (been tracking since '05...when I retired...)

Goal 10-11

This might be a stretch because of my lack of length off the tee (200 yards on a good drive). This makes a lot of par 4s unreachable in 2. But I have a better than average short game and it helps immensely. Been playing over 30 years and never was long, just accurate. But I love the game and try to play to my strengths....

I wish this thread had the question. How long are you off the tee? (I would like to see the correlation)

I am about 225 to 235 at best in the NW.

Me too, a comparison of age and driver distance would be interesting to know. I'm quite a bit younger than you are, I'm (65). My driver distances are quite similar to what yours are, and I'm a mid-westerner  .

On those days that I do score well? Are those days I'm hitting fairways and hitting driver 230 235 average, and not 3 putting. :D I've even started laying up on par 4's with the hope that I can get it close and 1 putt. ;)

I'm truthfully getting better all the time but I'm also getting older, and age always seems to negate any benefits from my superior mental, and physical capabilities.

Good suggestion--I'm still 60 and my average drive is 260 here in the NW during the winter. I'm usually 10 for 14 on fairways hit, I just really need to practice my putting. I'm comfortable going for the green with any club in my bag, depending on the green and pin placement, but find that I'm usually going for the green with my 7 or 8i, (8i good for 150 and 7i >155).

Play well, but most importantly, enjoy the game, oh and be good company.

I'll be 62 in April. Hdcp is 10 to 12 depending on how often I golf. Lowest it's ever been in over 40 years golfing. I'm okay with it as I still smoke many flat bellys. I'll never be much better. Play 2-3 times a week when there's no snow on the ground and enjoy every round. And I still average about 240-250 on my drives (GPS) and occasionally get one out 270-280 (and usually always in the fairway). Short game is excellent but putting comes and goes. After I went to players irons (Ping S59's) I'm hitting more greens. ????? Who would have thought?

I guess two years of working on my swing have helped.

.

Three questions and please do not answer if your not over 50

1. What is your current index

2 What is the lowest it has ever been

3. What is your goal what would you like it to be.

Hi,

  1. 6.7
  2. 3.3
  3. 5.0

I'm almost 55 and will be playing inter-club senior pennant golf (matchplay) later this year and would like to get down to 5.0 and play to it, in senior pennants, we play from #1 (lowest hcp) to #7 based on handicap and my golfing regular is always so competitive and we both won't to play ahead of each other, he's currently about 7.3.

I'm more than capable, last 2 rounds:

  1. shot 1 under par on front nine 9 (3 birdies, 2 bogies), followed by +8 on back 9
  2. yesterday, even par on back 9, followed by +7 on front 9 (1 birdie, 13 pars, 1 bogey, 3 double bogies)

I feel like the changes I've made over previous few weeks is starting to work, but just still having a few bad swings that's really costing me.

I have a tendancy to allow my hands on the grip to seperate ever so slightly allowing the hands to work against each other causing me to shorten my backswing. Also because my ball striking was going backwards, starting to take too long over the ball and shuffling my feet to get comfortable, but changing my body alignment to target.

Last couple rounds I've closed gap in grip, pressing back of wrists towards each other, getting target-line, setting up to target, look once to target, then start swing. My ball striking has greatly improved, hitting ball straighter and higher.

Things are starting to look up after soooooo long time DOWN, went out to 8.4.

Cheerz :) :D ;)

I'm glad someone rejuvinated this thread. I wasn't old enough to post last year, but I became an official AARP member last month, so here it is.

50

Current 20.1

Lowest 13.9 (a year and half ago)

Goal Downward

During the past year, I've had to work a lot more hours, had less income to play, lost distance off the tee...other than that I can't figure out why the HC has gone up :)

Age 55, been playing 7 years, UK handicap 2 (2.1). Lowest I think was 1.6. Play a couple of tournaments but no longer play club competitions so opportunity for handicap to come down is very limited (only club competitions and tournament rounds count for handicap here). If I was in the USA system I guess I would be around 0 to +1 handicap.

53, 2.4 index, .4 at it's lowest. Had a TKR (total knee) early this year and am hoping to get my Hcp to around 0 and be able to walk while playing again by next year. Also, you need to be able to walk in most of the USGA amateur events. My goal next year (55) is compete in the US Senior Amateur and take another crack at the US Senior Open as an amateur.

Best of luck on the knee rehab, and the upcoming USGA events. I'm sure it will be quite a satisfying accomplishment to qualify for those events after the surgery.

Impressive :clapping: Wish you well on your endeavor. A few days back after a one-under round on a course used for qualifying I told my wife if the game keeps moving in the same direction I will be looking at the US Senior Open qualifier too.

Age: 51

Lowest: 0.2

Present: No official HC but play to about 7

Goals: To stay on the right side of the grass

Use to practice 3 times a week and play 3-4 rounds a week. Played in several tournaments on a mini tour professionally. Got multiple injury's 3 years ago and never got my game back after a year layoff. Now I just play for fun with friends and like another poster said, I stop and smell the flowers. I don't even keep a handicap anymore as I don't take this game seriously. Most of the time we don't even keep score but just have a great time together. Try sometime joining your friends and put away the scorecard, you would be amazed at how well you can play when there is no pressure on you. To the one's getting ready to play in tournaments, I wish you all the luck and don't give up on your dreams. If you believe, then you can achieve.

Age - 54

Best Index - 11
Goal - better form and single digit HC

Just getting back into the game after a 15 year lay-off. Playing about twice a week. Would like to play more, but my hands and arms are sore. I may have overdone it a bit since getting back into the game. When I played years ago, I was a 13.
I just had my swing video taped and was shocked at how bad it was. Veryyyy flat. Am now trying to get on proper plane and better finish. Of course my game will probalby go down hill for awhile. Going to the range today... if I can only raise my arms :D

I tried again this year to qualify and I just suck! My index is 2.9 but would have had to shoot par (72) to qualify, this is my third year and I'm trying again next year! Out of all the competitors every single one used carts ............except the guy I played with (paired as twosomes) not only did I out drive him by 40-60 yards I had a 10 min wait in between shots!! By the 14th hole I was toast! 1 under through 6 then it just went away, the marshals were following us and I thought they were going to penalize us for slow play (we were a hole & 1/2 behind) so it just messed with my small mind! Next year if my guy walks so will I!!

I'm 57 - 15 index - lowest was a 10

Like many out there, I'm one guy doing the work of 2 people which cuts into my time getting out. So, I haven't been able to play enough to get mad at my scores, which is usually made up of a good 9 and a mediocre 9. I found a great PGA pro to work with and get with him twice a month, working on scrambling skills and scoring. I have a trip to Bandon next year, so my goal is to play their complex and not embarrass myself, and, get into single digits next season.

I am 63 years old.
My current index is 8.5.
The lowest it has ever been was 5.6.

I really don't worry about my index very much. When I was a 5.6 index, I had a car wreck and could not play for 18 months. My first round of golf following that wreck, I shot a smooth running 91...but I was out there playing golf. It would be great to rarely ever have a round above 79 but I know there are some days that the body just will not respond and I accept that.

My only goal really is to have one more round in the 60s before I die.
