Current handicap 3 age 58

Lowest it has been .9 index Then again I never had a handicap untill I was 46 I am sure that on several occassions I would have been a plus handicap. One year I posted 17 of 22 eighteen hole rounds at one course under 70

Note not part of the question but my handicap has been as high as six last winter Just was playing horrible for several years there

My Goal No real goal if my schedule changed and I could practice I would love to be a 0 again before I die but I am afraid at this age its going the other direction for me.

I haven't been keeping a GHIN for years now, and most golf I played were for business and social function. If I must take a guess, my current GHIN should be close to a 15, I shot in the 80's most of the time from the tip, the lowest it had been before I have my family was a 7.2
I would like it to be around 10 for the efforts I could put into this game, but I enjoy playing golf at any level.
I'm no longer getting angry at myself for not able to make the shot which I know I could.
Eagles are getting sparse, birdies are great but I won't jump up and down for joy, pars are nice, the often occurred bogey and doubles don't bother me as much like before.
Funny, I seemed to have more fun playing golf, not grinding at it. I could smell the flowers so to speak.
Don't get me wrong, my heart still want to jump out of my mouth when I have a low round going, but I won't ignore my playing partners and kept to myself throughout the round anymore.

this is proof that with age comes wisdom. Enjoy the game first and rejoice when you score well but keep your nose in the flowers.

I'm 63. Hc of 7. I've been able to play more often since Jan 07 so HC is going down. We don't enter any scores after league ends in oct. Never keep HC till 2006 but I imagine it's as low as it's ever been. I Like to set goals high so being able to play PAR golf every day I feel like bearing down is my goal. If I can't, it won't ruin the enjoyment of playing but that will help me practice the things I need to do to reach that goal.( short game from 40 yds in.)

I am 51 yrs old. My current handicap is 6 or 7, haven't looked at the computer in a while due to not playing since Nov. I have been scratch many times in my forties, but usually 1 or 2. My goal is to get back to a true 3 or 4. Even when I was a 1 or 2 I was a "weak" 1 or 2. I would shoot 68, 69, 73, 81, 79, 90, 70. My good rounds were good, and my bad ones could be horrific. The low handicap was very misleading, IMO. Of course, now I chop all the time! Isn't old age great?

65 in a few weeks: 5 hdcp from the seniors, 9 from the blues........don't play the way backs much anymore........as for goals.....stay healthy and play as much as possible!! I've been through the medical wringer, so just happy to be upright and playing!! There was a day that if I shot 72, I was PO'd and probably lost money!! Coach

I'm 65, have been to a 6 handicap 30 plus years ago, gave up the game for 10 years. When I came back to the game my handicap was 17ish, I've worked it to a 12 13, and would like to get down to the 6 or 7 where I used to be.

I can shoot high 90's or mid 70's but mostly in the mid 80's. Last summer I was -2 going into #9 and I managed to double that one. ;) I'm not sure if it's my mental approach to golf or if it's my mental approach. :cheesy:

I do have this muscle thing going on where my swing is sweet and smooth, and then it goes spastic on me, same thing with chipping and putting. :cheesy:

I guess you didn't know that I'm "amphibious".......!! Actually have an out of date 9 index and the senior group plays points and it averages out to a 5 hdcp.........At some point I'll have to settle in to one course and one set of tees but now I play in three different regular groups and index is pretty much of a crap shoot......as we pick up after were in a "no points" situation........ ;) Coach

Three questions and please do not answer if your not over 50

!. What is your current index

2 What is the lowest it has ever been

3. What is your goal what would you like it to be.
Age 53

Current index 4.9

Lowest was before indices but I guess it would have been 2-3, as my course handicap was 4 on a slope of 132.

Goal? As good as I can get! I want to cut it in half this year. I'm doing clubhead speed work, putting work and plan to spend practice time in these increments:

Putting 50%
pitching and chipping 30%
irons 15%
driver 5%

Age: 61
Current index: 12
Lowest index: 4
Aspire to: 9 or better
Was playing a lot when it was a 4, then dropped golf for other activities and only played occasionally for 10 years. Retired this past year, and now playing 3-5 times per week this winter in Texas. Game is coming back, and HOPEFULLY back in single digits soon. Short game work will help a lot.
Update: Down to 10 as of 3/6/08. And shot a nice little 76 this morning.
my club shows and index then indivitual handicaps from different tees

I was 2 from the whites and a 3 from the blues

I hardly every get to play the whites.

I am sure that is what he is referring too
You're probably right.

There's only ONE handicap index, e.g. 4.8 which may translate to a course handicap of say, 3 shots from the gold, 4 shots from the whites and 5 shots from the blues, etc...

I'm 61 and carry a 5.8 which is the lowest it's ever been thanks to intensive work on my short game.

This year my goals are to add 10 yards to my very short drives and hit pretty shots from the fairway.

Honma Beres 10.5*
Jones/Ortiz 4 wood 17*
Adams Idea Black CB2 irons 26, 29, 33, 37, 41, 45*
Callaway MD3 S grind 52, 56, C grind 60, PM grind 64*
Tom Slighter Custom Needle 450g, 3* loft, 74* lie (2006)
Tom Slighter Needle 360g, 4* loft, 72* lie (2012, backup)

Age: 53.

Haven't kept an index for years but would be somehwere between 6 and 8. Got down to 1.7 back in the '90's and then lost my mind and interest in the game trying to get lower. Sunsequently quit the game, bought another dirt bike, broke my left leg in half and then decided to start playing again as a cripple. :-) (Nerve damage and left leg is now at least one inch shorter than the right leg).

Son started playing travel baseball a year or so after starting my "comeback" so golf took a backseat and has more or less stayed there. Used to play every weekend but down to less than twenty rounds per year now. Don't want to practice as much and when I do get the change to get out, prefer to play.

NO expectations about my game other than to actually enjoy myself when I do get out (and that has not always been the case for me).
