Ping PP58 midsize grips - different kinds?

I purchased a PP58 midsize grip to try out a while back, and then purchased a 2021 Tyne 4 putter which comes with a PP58 midsize. After pulling off the one that came with the new putter, I realized that the two grips I have are different. Now. I'm not even sure which is the new one and which is the older one. Any ideas?

I just looked and inside the grip. Both say golf pride Taiwan. The shorter one with the rounder butt says 58R13 while the longer one with the flat butt says 58R14.

The one on the 2021 Tyne is Ping's new PP58 "S" grip. It's slightly bigger than the original PP58 midsize. If you go to the "Grips" section of this page, you'll see the different PP58's detailed:

Well how about that? I looked on Ping's site and didn't even see it. Thank you so much for the info. I wanted to know because I put the putter up on the BST and wasn't sure which grip to put on. It's blown on with air so I can put on buyer's choice. Thanks!

The grip on the left is the original PP58 midsize and the grip on the right is the PP58 midsize that comes on the 2021 putters. 
 

There is also a straight taper grip that is available on the 2021. The way to tell if it is a pistol grip or a straight taper grip is the pistol grip has two rings around the top of the grip and the straight taper grip has one.

If you buy a new PP58 midsize, will it now be the larger one? I’d like to find one somewhere.

Has anyone tried to buy a PP58 Midsize Cord grip? Just ordered some off GW website and expected shipment date is 4/15/2022. Wondering if that is consistent with others? thanks!

Yeah the corded putter grips are non existent. I had an alert in ebay for over a month for a Lamkin deep etched cord for under $25 and finally got one for 17$ shipped. The guy had 4 and they were gone within 6 hours of listing. Best bet may be to do ebay alerts.

It seems that I have a third version of the PP59. The grip on the left is a PP59 midsize and the one on the right is slightly bigger. The left one is 2 mm thick and the right one is 3 mm thick. The right one was bought in  2018 and is not a 2021 PP59 s (straight) with a flat top. Can anyone help to identify the right one?

About the grip- going back to my roots with the pp58 old school from a super stroke.

 

Question to you guys do they make the smooth Style pp58 original that I like in a midsize- no NOT the one in the picture above literally labeled "pp58 midsize" because that one is different if you'll notice- same shape yes, but it's not smooth like the original and the pp58S are. It's perforated with tiny little holes-think Cameron no cord. a very noticeable difference aesthetically and feel.

 

The picture by the poster above perfectly represents the texture difference I'm speaking to.

I’m so glad I found a detailed discussion about this. Recently picked up the limited edition PLD Prime Tyne 4 and have been hunting down the original blacked out midsized pp58 since the seller changed out the grip to a super stroke. Now I’m eager to try the two different midsized grips.

Love My Ping Sigma II Platinum tyne 4 putter and we know Billy Horschel loves the heck out of it on the PGA Tour. He's the only guy who plays one.

 

   He actually had the new New 2023* Tyne 4 in the President's Cup for a little while then immediately switched back to the Platinum.

 

   Yes Correct. It was actually made in 2018 I believe

 

    The Platinum version is the only color that I prefer and looks proper to me with a beautiful almost hydro blast anti-glare silver mist more traditional finish.

 

 

    Just recently got back from getting refreshed at the Ping Factory had the lie angle changed .5 flatter, they refilled the dot color and put a new classic Ping Man grip. Non blacked.

 

     It's perfect but it's a very heavy putter. The black insert on it i soft-that's the only thing I would change for Milled face.

 

     Ping makes the original PP 58 like you see in the picture on mine.

 

They make a PP 58 blackout same just with blacked out ping man" then they make a PP 58 mid size and a pp58 midsize cord another midsize pistol many others it gets confusing.

   

They also make a pp58s which is identical to the original PP 58 in every way except it's a straight grip more midsize. S=straight.

 

I like the the short slant hosel, everyone seems to like that Hosel whether it's on TaylorMade or Scotty Cameron..

The grip at the top left in the first photo is the old school style PP58 grip modeled after the standard size PP58 that's been around for years.  Slight versions have come out since.

Seems like the PLD putters have the PP58 midsize blackout “pistol” edition. 
here’s a screenshot on what they say about the DS 72 grip.

I like my lower hand touching the bottom of the grip. So grip length is important. I actually took the pp58 midsize and scrunched it by about an inch short. Made if feel a bit thicker and shorter length similar to the pp58 blackout midsize

Not sure if they plan to release it but they had a jumbo version of the ping man when I was fit for my custom pld.

A jumbo corded pingman is my dream grip. Think super stroke size.

So do we know how to go about getting the older/shorter version?  I just ordered 2 from Ping and they’re both the newer/longer version. Definitely different feeling I’m the hand.

Ping told me the older/shorter ones will be WRX/Tour only moving forward.  They will be releasing a new grip that's similar but in the future.  So for now all the ones from Ping will be the 2021 version.

Bought 2 Ping PP58 grips from Amazon. Received 1 of each of the slightly different ones. The left one in the OP's picture weighs in at around 80g and the slightly fatter and longer one weighs in at around 88g. Glad i found this, and without the grip on a putter i prefer the feel of the slightly larger one, but on the putter i actually prefer the smaller one. The smaller one is close to my pistolini plus one in shape and size.

Does anyone know if the midsize cord version is also the new larger/longer style? Or the traditional size?
