Blue Tees Golf S3 Rangefinder

Recommended Posts

I didn’t care for it because of the optics (not bright enough for my liking).  It did function as designed and was quick and accurate on the numbers though.  I am just so used to my Nikon Coolshot Stabilized.

I like mine a lot.  I do notice that If I shoot a flag several times I get different readings, but they're never more than 2-3 yards difference, and the range finder I replaced it with had a similar issue.  It's also been right in line with my buddies bushnell.  I don't regret the puchase at all, and would reccomend.

I've played a few rounds with it now, and I'm on the fence with it. I've always had a Bushnell or a Leupold so comparing it devices like that it's a bit of a let down. The optics aren't nearly as clear, and the display is actually quite dim. Combining both of the issues it can be a bit of a pain getting settled on the target you're after. As far as the accuracy goes it's within 1 or 2 yards of my Bushnell so no issues there. I haven't played in any problematic weather conditions with it yet, but I anticipate the issues I mentioned above only being worse. I'll likely be returning and going another direction, but will be giving it one more round on Wednesday.

Bought one at my pro shop recently and overall I've been happy with feel, optics, magnet and performance.  I haven't experienced some of the same optics issues others have expressed.  It has been bright and acquires distance quickly.  Haven't had a single issue picking up something in the background.  I have found horizontal distance to be on par with Bushnell as well never differing by more than a yard.  Perfectly acceptable.  Where I am struggling with it is in the slope calculation.  During a couple of instances it has shown me a slope distance of 7-9 yards more than the horizontal on a virtually flat hole.  In another instance, a downhill par 3, it always shows 8-12 yards less slope (plays as) distance than the Bushnell and I don't buy its distance.

Has anyone else experienced slope distances they don't really trust with the Series 3 MAX?

I should preface this comment with the fact I've never used a rangefinder before.

That being said, I picked up the Blue Tees S3 Max at Dicks a couple weeks ago. The next day I took it out to the course, and in ten attempts was unable to get a reading. The display showed the unit was on, but no amount of button pressing resulted in a reading on the screen.

To check if maybe it was just me, I let my golf partner, who has used a rangefinder for years, try it. He was unable to get a reading one it, either.

Perhaps both of us weren't able to hold it steady enough...I don't know.

I ended up returning it to Dicks.

Am now seriously considering the Bushnell V5.

Maybe not the exact same thing, but after a round or so mine started reading about 20 to 25 yards short. After removing/reinserting the battery, all was well.  After it did it again during a round, I tried it at the range and it wouldn’t pick up a flag over 150yards (verified with my buddy’s rangefinder), I called BlueTees.  It’s on the way back to them to take a look. They are really helpful so the customer service seems top notch!

I’ve had tbe series 3 for about a month now.  I find it just as good as any I’ve used.   No harder to hit the flag than any of them.

it does have a best feature.  The case which is very well made, has a slot on the back for the cart strap to go through.  So I keep the unit in the case while strapped to tbe cart and the top open for easy access.

it does have a magnetic side to use on the cart rails.  But I have lost a couple units leaving them on the rail when I took the cart back.
