Anyone know what Lydia Ko has in the bag at the Hilton TOC? I saw a photo and it looked like 2 fw’s and 2 hybrids.

Didn't see a WITB for her but from a couple of photos she is using Ping driver and what looks like Ping Blueprint irons. Notch in hosel and back look similar. Don't know what mix of iron lofts.

Prediction after seeing LK putting today— she will be rolling a LAB soon. Looks like a poor man’s lab right now.

So who knows what all of the sponsorship deals say or mean at this point, but LK is definitely playing Ping irons at the moment (since the Grant Thornton end of last year).  Looks to be a combo of longer irons in the I230, and shorter irons Blueprint S.  She is also playing Ping fairway woods as well, not sure on the Driver, but that may be Ping also.

Great little setup...Kinda wild to me that she plays steelfiber FC70.  She must really swing her irons smooth cause her driver SS isnt that slow at 96-97.

They may have started as F Grinds but I doubt they all still are.  Aaron Dill's team can work wonders with a belt sander.

Good point. She probably likes the width of that F sole and has them ground for her needs.  Those that don’t have access to the tour van and AD’s grinding skills tend to forget about that pro perk.

Most people can chunk or thin a shot with any wedge grind...

 

Most pros could figure out how to play with any wedge you gave them (at least in the context of staying on tour).  But some have very distinct preferences, and once you've convinced yourself that is what you like, you just don't want anything else.  When talking about razor thin margins at the top, you don't want to be standing over the ball with something you are lukewarm about.

 

I think Spieth has also played the same Vokey wedge setup forever.  Depending on conditions, some attributes may be more favoured than others.  However, if you stick with the same clubs all of the time, at least you know how the club is going to go through the turf and what you can/can't do.

Some players are perpetually fiddling with equipment, others seem to get addicted to individual clubs. Think the extreme ends of the spectrum would be Tiger and Arnie.

 

Tiger used the same Scotty putter (always with a Ping pistol grip) for, like, two decades. Think I read somewhere that Arnie used over 1,200 putters over the course of his career, in fact now and then would change putters halfway through a single tournament. 

 

So much of this game is psychology.

Kinda gettin in the weeds here, but anyone know if she plays her fairways in the standard Ping position or something different.  I can usually find a pic or if she was on the Ping website it tells you, but can't find anything.

Love it...Im still waiting for her to jump on the LAB bandwagon given her penchant for center shafts, but her SC love it pretty strong.

I played a round in LA with a solid player who had a new center shafted LAB broomstick. Same one that Will Zalatoris is using. Seemed to make a much higher than average number of putts.

Had 23 putts today with my L.A.B. Mezz. Really starting to roll the rock well. Torque free is superior design.
