Lydia Ko New Equipment Deal (***MERGED***)

On one of the other threads it was pointed out Ko is no longer with PXG. Any ideas where she has gone? Ladies get less coverage but she is a former world no 1 and prodigy... interesting to see where she lands up

Used to be with Callaway if not mistaken…left them in 2017 before 4 years with PXG…

And that's when it all started going downhill for her.  One may have nothing to do with the other but it's certainly a factor.  She's too good to not be winning like she used to so something needs to change.

She burned out and lost the love for golf like most teen prodigies. Btw, she had a really good year last year.

Blame David Leadbetter for her downward spiral not the equipment... during the height of her early days, DL got her to change her swing to his A-Swing model.  After leaving DL she has been on a few different coaches trying to regain form and I believe currently with Sean Foley.  I hope for a great 2022 from her as she has a big influence on the ladies' game!

Sean Foley is the current coach and she is doing well along with more healthy eating.

Howard Clark and Sandy Lyle tried Faldo’s route, later Michelle Wie and were never seen again. A Black Hole maybe. 
 

Lydia Ko’s physique has changed incredibly. As the Poster above suggests, maybe better fuel would lead to strengthening.

She was really fun to watch this past year. Her and Spieth both playing the same comeback role in their respective arenas. I too could see her back at Callaway given their presence in the women's game and their history. She certainly made herself more marketable after 2021.

Coaches have the worst job... Player plays well, they rarely get the credit. Player plays badly, they get all the blame.

 

Cally would make the most sense given her familiarity with brand and I feel like Cally is on a good roll right now with good technology.

Led seems to keep changing his swing philosophy.  The 2 Nick's were taught a totally different swing than the A-Swing or whatever he teaches now.

1) Money talks....Lydia is talented enough to get used to any OEM.

I gotta believe Parson's offer was more lucrative than any other OEM at the time when Lydia was no longer a Cally ambassador.

 

2) Titleist does not necessarily pay huge money endorsements (except for it's elite PGA pros) especially for the LPGA pros.

Yes, the Korda sisters are now Titleist brand ambassadors....but both aren't heavily Titleist logo'd on their apparel/hat or staff bag...so I assume their Titleist sponsorships aren't huge money.

 

If Lydia does become a Titleist club ambassador...they will likely be the highest bidder.....then Titleist decided to have well branded/logo representative elite LPGA pro.

Currently, Lydia is a Titleist branded ball ambassador ...playing the left dash ProV1X.

 

As an Am....I recall Lydia playing AP2's along with Fourteen wedges....she also played a ProV1 in her Am days too.

I would love to see where Lydia ends up.  I've been following her since she won the 2012 Canadian Women's Open in my neck of the woods....as an amateur.
