My generation so bland in terms of top tour results

He was a beast. If he played in today’s game he would have 4-5 personal fouls a game!  Can’t hit em high, can’t hit em low, can’t hit em after the ball is released, can’t “drive ‘em into the ground”… 😜

Sure but wouldn’t matter…

Belichick…

“he could just tell by the look of the opponent on the other side of the line of scrimmage who was going to block him, and that was by how scared they were.”

“Quarterbacks also had a tell: They’d look at Taylor with fear in their eyes before a pass play, and they’d look relieved that they didn’t have to worry about Taylor on a run play.”

“He would often times come off and tell me that, after the first or second series, he said, ‘I can read this on every play. It’s easy.’ Because the tackle, if he had him in pass protection, was scared to death.”

Well at the risk of making this too “serious” haha, it would matter when he cost his team 75+ yards in penalties and only or none of his sacks counted… Now back to the ‘generational top tour results talk 🔥‘

Ya but if the QB is, uh, disfunctional after the hit, then is net big positive!

But really, LT would have been even better now. He prolly would actually

Lift a weight! 🤣

He 6”3, 240, and didn’t lift. He’d get fined for not lifting. Said his off season training consisted of playing golf ; )

He didn’t lift my butt. I’ll agree with ‘didn’t like to lift’. Like a bikini model (or IG “influencer” these days) saying she only eats McDonalds and never works out just to make the big girls feel even worse!… 🙄 😆 That said, he was no doubt a stud and game wrecker.

Trust me he lifted! Read “he wants ppl to think it’s all God given”. Anyway, pretty silly “debate” and we will be “yelled at” soon for the side talk anyway! Haha… This is really unfortunate.

The 5 ys interval can of course be discussed, but as far as trends and preferences goes, much can change in 5 ys.

From one of my above posts.

Your example of 1962-1967 is a very small sample size.

Singh (3 majors), Olazabal (2), Janzen (2), Daly (2), Elkington (1), Love III (1), Hamilton (1) and Toms (1) is pretty good I reckon.

But they do not measure up against

Faldo, Norman, Ballesteros, Couples,

and

Furyk, Mickelson, Els and Goosen.

I can throw in more names .

and remember, if we talk trends Vijay grew up in Fiji. And had the brunt of his glory in the 2000’s.

Gen X is the smallest generation. No one cares about us as we don't move any needles.

I think we're lucky we made it this far while our parents were tripping dr Woodstock....

Not our parents. At least on this side of the big waters. They were busy raising hell over the communist TV programs, shipping us through Checkpoint Charlie to scare us off and that kind of stuff.

It was the flower power 25 yo teachers that told us to hold peoples hands and feel solidarity for everything.

I know politics is a nono but this is more history. Anyhow, Star wars had its premiere, our king married a Lady Di copy(still our queen), people started to wear lambswool sweaters, and I took up golf late in my teens, as did a lot of kids in my middle of the pack class environment. Too late to make an impact.

Guess the Faldos and the Ballesteroses was the last of the big american dreamers before the brown acid kicked in.

Yeah but their birth year would have little significance on the outcome of a player's success.

It is just pure chance that certain "5 year period" won more majors.

For example, Faldo, Norman, Ballesteros and Couples all grew up in different countries and I doubt their success was because they were born in the "right 5 year period".

The other side of coin could be argued that why other players born in the Faldo-Ballesteros period, did not have the same success, if you're saying birth year is a significant variable for success.

Obviously there are more significant variables which are critical for a player's success.

I have my theories in the post just above, that like 1972 wasnt really a period when wearing lambswool sweaters was cool for kids and chic for soccer moms. And that might have reached Australia, US and UK. But not maybe Fiji.
