Cobra King Forged Tec and King Forged Tec X irons - In Hand Photos

I just stopped by last night at a local demo day on the indoor simulator. I hit the Forged Tec 7i, and my gosh this thing goes and it's so easy to hit. Unfortunately the Cobra demo cart was pretty trash and they didn't have many shaft options at all, but even still this thing sounded good and was super easy to hit consistently. I also plugged in a few shots with the Forged Tec X 7i and that thing was going 10 yards longer than the FT's. Now, I don't need my 7i going 185yds, so I would be very happy with the standard FT's. However, I would be curious is putting an FTX 4 iron combined with FT 5-PW (bending the 5 & 6 iron a touch stronger to match). Either way, these things are nice! I'd still like to hit these and the Pro 225's side by side to compare looks, flight, distance, feel, etc. before making a buy decision.

With all the black editions (drivers, wedges, putters, etc.), is it safe to say that Cobra will be releasing the FT/X irons and LTDx Fairways/Hybrids in a black finish as well? This question is aimed more towards those in the 'know'... thx

Normally Im not interested in these type of irons, but i have been so impressed with the two recent Cobra releases, their putters and the LTD drivers, that Im seriously going to demo these and consider them. Cobra is having a good year.

I hit the FTX today and boy did they feel great. The best in class for this iron. I can only imagine what the FT feels like.

Just ordered a set of the Cobra King Copper MIM Tour irons, 5-GW.  They look similar to me to older Callaway Apex irons or older Titleist AP2s.  Very classic look in my opinion.

 

The feel of the MIM Tour irons is excellent and the lofts are fairly traditional with a 45 degree PW.

 

The Forged TEC irons are just a bit larger and the top line is thicker, but the Forged TEC is considerably slimmed down over the previous generation.  The lofts however are stronger.  I was getting a lower ball flight and less spin with the Forged TEC irons than the MIM Tour irons and the gapping was such that I would have had to play 6-GW, 52, 56, 60.

 

If you want or need more distance get the Forged TEC irons.  If you want more distance and also help with launch get the Forged TEC X.  If you want a classic good feeling cavity back get the MIM Tours.

 

Also tried the RF Forged MB irons and really liked them too, but they were not available in the specs I wanted due to some supply chain issues.

I'm currently testing my Forged Tecs against my 225s.  Early results lean towards 225s but that's based mainly on looks and size.  Both are really good irons though.

I’m assuming the FT not FTX?

Any comparison you can make regarding forgiveness?  Thanks!
