Does this look like normal wear?

TM says this is normal wear and won't replace it or anything. The red face is literally starting to disspear and this is normal?

It's a painted/coated item.  I would expect that it will wear just like any other item that is finished in the same manner and then makes contact with solid objects and the ground- not unlike the black faces of most other metalwoods that show normal wear from use.

Everything shows wear after a while, on my last Driver and 3 wood the black wore down to the silver finish.  I wouldn't expect this driver to be any different.  Paint is paint.

It's not paint.  It's a cover over the carbon surface.  It shouldn't do that.

You’re swinging it 100 mph over and over and definitely hitting a tee every time, if not the ground sometimes and getting grass and or sand in between the ball and the club.  Looks like normal wear regardless of what someone else said.  If you want a flawless looking club you can’t use it.

Are those delamination bubbles? If so then yes its a huge defect and will get worse.

 

If it's just discoloration I wouldnt consider it a 'defect', but just crappy product material choice.

What he said… Knew this was going to an issue with the club when it was released. I’m sure at some point it will begin to peel as well. With a Polymer coated object and repeated contacts and friction with another object it’s bound to happen.

Good news is though, you look pretty consistent (mine wouldn’t show wear…. Never in the same spot twice).

Urethane wears, I have a hard time imagining this won't be commonplace. Unsightly, and unfortunate, but certainly doesn't seem abnormal to me.

Thanks guys for all the input, TM decided they will replace it now for me. I could careless about it if the driver was a few years old or something but it's like 3 months old and already this is happening.

I totally get your concern, glad they're replacing it.  3 months however is for sure enough time for some wear to start develop, my stealth 3 wood is for sure starting to show wear on the face from use.  Hopefully with luck what you see on the driver is indeed wear and not a bigger problem.

This is a prime example of what happens when moisture comes in contact carbon fiber. This happens as soon as the coating, no matter the type, is compromised. I would expect that this will be a common call for TM customer service after players get 6 months plus use out of the Stealths.

Yuppers, can't wait to hear the number of clubs they'll be replacing after one season.

 

As someone else suggested, when new one arrives, sell it an buy something with a face made of metal.
