Anyone know upcharge for PX or DG X7? Thanks

I usually just go to 2ndswing.com and pick whichever shaft I'm looking to price, it gives a per club upcharge price.

You can do this with most of the major online retailers.

First round, I230 Power Spec, DG120 X100 +1/2” & Blue Dot. I’ll echo what many have already said, super forgiving, very spinny & at least a club short.  Going to continue to game them but they will be getting new shafts most likely.

I ended up in Project x LS 6.5. Brought spin down quite a bit and is super stable! Normally a stiff player in irons.

Went and hit the i230 today and these are the results compared to my current JPX923HMP (923 numbers from a couple months ago. I think my speed is a little higher now).

The i230 are probably beyond my current skill level (around 18hdcp) but I loved how the distance dispersion was a little tighter than the 923s. It's kind of a toss up for me as I prefer the feel of the 923s.

Bad shot after bad shot, I'd look up expecting a big drop off in distance but they are so consistent! Wondering if I were to get a set, should I go for the i230 in power spec? Would that put my launch angle in a better spot? Would the 4i be usable with my ball speed? Thanks for any advice!

Being a DG guy I’ve never gotten along with Project X but maybe time to give them a shot.

I would definitely suggest it! I’m coming from Nippons and these LS don’t feel boardy like standard PX (at least to me).

Same exact thought, I’ve never liked the standard PX, but love the LS.

First, the 4.5º loft difference is massive.

Second, 47º descent is ideal. That'll hold greens. Higher peak yards, only a 4-5 yard drop in carry despite the 4.5º loft?

That's not even close. The numbers say i230 all day, all night. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: you should be comparing a i230 6i @29º to that.

Thanks for your insight! Yeah the main thing that concerned me was the high launch and I thought too high of a descent but sounds like it is good!

47º is usually ideal for mid-irons. It'll go up to 50-ish for your PW, and down as you go up the long irons, and that makes sense.

If you play in lots and lots of wind, you may want to power spec them and get them lower by a smidge. The purpose of that descent angle is that when you hit it properly, it'll hit the green and generally stop within a yard or so. It may not get you as many total yards as other clubs, but that's the point of an iron; find your carry distance, hit the green, and have the ball *stay* on the green for you to putt it.

If you have any other questions, DM me.

My black dot i230s came with Oban Ct 115 s and power spec about a week ago.  Took 3-4 weeks in all from placing the order. They had a snag with lamkin full cord grips I’d spec’d…subbed Tour velvet cord…also a delay.  Finally just got crosslines to get them built.  These are just so good…especially with the smoooooth obans.  I haven’t played a round with them yet, but the dispersion and lack of fliers is voodoo engineering.

They beat out the new miura cb-302s (albeit by a narrow margin) for gamers this year.  Miura forged clubs just have that ‘splat’ feel when pured…you don’t get that with the cast clubs unfortunately, but the i230s still feel great when hit on the screws and tighter dispersion.

Shameless plug:  in case anyone wants a 10/10 minty set of Miuras that don’t even ship yet for another few weeks, there might be a set floating out there in the classifieds…

Question - anyone hit their new 230s yet and had issues with ball marks not coming off the grooves of face?  I’ve only hit light amounts of new balls in sim and seems strange that my W and 8 have marks like this that won’t come off even with warm soapy water and a brush.

Tools not jewels I know…just never had anything like this before with other brands.

Follow up question: how do you get those marks to be in the center of the clubface like that? Mine are mostly on the areas without grooves.

Sheer luck in this instance…lol.

The reason I went w the pings is not based on their bag appeal, but their forgiveness on heel/toe strikes.

Just seems strange the faces don’t come clean like on other irons…

Should've gone with Srixon ZX7 irons, got them last year in august, barely notice any wear and tear! Regardless, its normal to have those marks! Tools not jewels!

I hear ya Inglewood. I get the whole thing tools not jewels but I also enjoy a clean club. I have only hit indoor sims so far.  Yes, I get those marks that I can’t get off. I have tried a few things but haven’t gone crazy at it yet. They have lightened but not gone. We will see how it works outside. I hope think that it will blend away.
Side note I ended up putting some expel paint protection film on the back to help with bag chatter. Hand cut each one to fit it took a while with Bourbon of course. 58A5F671-6CDB-49E3-BF61-888C18A6BFAF.jpeg.33a6cf2983f2350288df1711f7f9187a.jpegI am a little overboard with clean clubs and keeping them pertty. Lol.

Irons are gonna get beat up if you play golf. Otherwise, you could hang them on your wall or these might help your ocd-ish 😂

😂 I get it irons will show wear. If I didn’t tell you you’d never know that is was there. Never will use an iron cover. It’s not OCD I just take care of things. I like to keep everything nice and clean.

It's a weird phenomenon in America with everyone allergic to iron covers. It's not a global thing. I imagine that as Americans have to start paying more for irons, you'll see more neoprene on them. I can unequivocally say, hand on heart, my Blueprints look not a year old. Of course they get the wear and tear, and I'm not bothered by it at all. But they look a lot better than they otherwise would.

Most of the players I know use them, but if you're like me, the most important use for me is noise/clattering in a remote control trolley. "Use a towel" they say - and sure, that works. I find them a lot quicker than winding a towel each time for my setup.

That said, I've been pretty ok with cleaning the 230s. They are wearing better than forged, so I can't imagine these are going to look too bad. My goal with these are 2030. I made it almost 5 with the BPs, but injury was what it was. It'll be interesting with how it goes over time.

But for those of you that are paranoid, at least use something during transport. I find that most of my neoprene cuts are from being in the car to & from, loading in and loading out. The most abusive you can be once you're at a facility is hitting off nasty dirt/grass at the range. That'll tear up a sole fast. I understand why some get the test-7i, and go ahead with the whole set, thus getting the "range 7". Not bad if you can spring for it and have patience.

Anyhow, they're holding up better for me than I expected. I did notice one quality slip… they painted my 5i black dot, though it measures the correct red dot. I'll fix it some day...

Yeah, honestly if the ball flies straight and the scores drop, I could care less what they look like.  Just seemed strange that the marks on the face don’t come off from such light indoor use.
