in typical MTlJeff fashion, there was a Srixon demo day today and i hit the ZX5 a bit better with the same shaft

 

So , yeah.....cancelled Ping order and bought Srixons lol

Hahaha!! Definitely a classic Club Ho move!!

 

Man, wish I could test out the G430 or the ZX5, but both only have Flat settings and no Upright settings for some reason.

 

So Srixon and PING Woods will be off limits for me indefinitely until that is changed.

I'm fortunate that im exceedingly average. I'm 6 foot but have short arms (this is why i never made the NBA, no wingspan--also i sucked---but i did dunk in a game once so take that everyone!)

 

So i play pretty standard clubs

 

The Srixon guy was a real sweetheart. I spent like an hour chatting with him on the range a month ago but didn't buy. And then hit the Pings and loved them......than Srixon had a second demo day with us again today. And i was like "Crap.....i like this guy"

 

So i hit the Srixons again, hit 3 drives out of my first 8 that had 290+ total distance (i didn't hit one single ball 290+ with the Ping) and then sprinted to my pro and asked if he could cancel my Ping order ....LOL

BTW the Ping G430 WAS awesome....i basically averaged about 283 total distance with it , with a dispersion the size of a dinner table

 

But as mentioned, same loft, Srixon ZX5 has similar spin, 1 degree higher launch and 3 of my first ~8 swings were 290+ total distance including one that was 274 carry. 

 

This is why i sprinted to the pro shop

I switched about three weeks ago to the G430 with an Accra TZ6. Couldn’t be happier. Really loving the feel and performance of the Ping. I didn’t have a chance to try the Srixon or the Mizuno (hit pretty much everything else). Sounds like the ZX5 is a real winner. I would have liked to check it out.

That's when I decided being a kicker in football was a better career path !

Yeah ZX 3 wood with same shaft. (RDX Red)

 

I only took 1 swing with the 3 wood to be honest. First swing was 269 total distance ....i just said "Ring it up" lol

We had our Men's A quebec Am interclubs yesterday which are always fun. My team finished 2nd in group 3 which basically means were about the 9-10th best club in Quebec (out of like 75 who participate plus many others that don't). 

 

We're a really unique club in that everyone is 40+ on our team. Most teams are all kids. One dude i played against his his driving iron as far as my driver, and birdied 4 of the first 6 holes LOL. 

 

Ended up putting really well (another nod to you there @sergizmo) 

 

And had the honor of making the final shot of the day, a 6 footer up the hill to clinch second place for my team in front of a few hundred people. 

 

One thing i definitely will say, there's hitting blades, and then there's hitting a blade 5 iron to a 197 pin with water in play in front of 100 people. LOL. Turns out i can hit them OK haha

If he can hit his driving iron as far as your driver, then he should put it in the top slot of his bag.  😉  And your driver may need a demotion to the wedge slot.

I'm not really 100% dialed in with my 0317 ST and my Sub70's just don't do it for me. 

 

the 150s, are:

 

-Kinda niche, i feel like no one buys Titleist anymore. Right up my alley

-Super sexy

-Very clean look and the type of iron i use

 

Yes or no?

Be a PXG shill again 😉. The 0317CB and ST irons are nice and cheaper. 

 

But those T150 are nice but apparently I wasn't as good to test the T100.

All good ideas----new Apex i'd have to wait a bit longer. Not a bit fan of the Mizuno Pro for whatever reason

 

Also a fitting would be nice but we don't have any more Titleist ones this year. And the new CB we probably can't test till next year

I was striping my Sub70s today....i might keep them for a while and see

If you go DTC Haywood blades or cavity blade combo set. They blend almost seamlessly. Haywood raw wedges are nice too.

I say zig when everyone else zags. Get the soon to be released T600s. Your competitors won’t know what to think.

 

 

 

(Actually hoping you get the T150s for selfish reasons. I’d really like to hear how they stack up to the 317s).

I've thought about Haywoods a lot.....they are super cheap right now to get a CB/MC blended set. It's a good suggestion. Part of me just thinks they are basically the same as the 659CB but then again so are the T150.

Just throwing suggestions seeing if any catch your attention. 

 

But seems like the T150s have your full attention at the moment. Won't lie they got mine even after ordering new irons but doubt I'm at that level right now but can hit the PXG CBs

Gosh they are so nice. The cavity and look is just so tasteful.....and i don't believe i've ever played a set of Titleist irons

Yeah, the T150’s remind me to the 714 and 718 AP2’s, but a modern version with different finish.

 

I would consider a set down the road when they’re not like $10K for a set, Lol.
