Titleist Hollow Body

Heck, if you warm up the T200's at all, that back piece starts to melt. I've seen quite a few sets that have been reshafted and the backs are destroyed.

I am a 7 handicap. A average ball striker. I have a set of t100S combo T200. I love the looks of the t100S. Wish they were bigger as others have mentioned. I do not hit this sit well. It may because the shafts are heavy for me.

but coming for p790s 3rd gen, which was super forgiving. I love everything titleist. I would love a titleist version of the p790. T200 in 4 and 5 in my opinion do not feel great.

T200 are fantastic irons, the plastic used to bother me but it doesn’t any more. From address they look awesome, better than any other hollow iron to my eye. They sound louder than a T100 but they flat out perform. With looks and performance, I can live with a couple little shortcomings.

Weren’t you gaming the p790s? What made you change to t200?

Shaft change was major reason, and the size of the T200’s is so much better to me. I typically just play the T200 long irons at the top end of my T100S set, definitely the 5-6 and sometimes sub in a 4 iron T200 utility build versus my hybrid. I found with the P790 my ball striking wasn’t any better than with T100, so I went with better shape and feel. The T200 at the top of the bag offer just that extra level of help for that length of shot to me. I have the other irons to do a complete set, but can hit the T100’s more than adequately so I like the added versatility. I have always tried to like the P790 but just can’t make it work.

The darker section actually looks alright but after a year or more of use the darker color starts wearing off and looking pretty bad. The wear wouldn’t look near as bad if it was all the same silver finish.

What club are you talking about?  I have had a 2017 T-MB 2 iron in the bag from 2017 when it was introduced, till early this month when I bought T200 2 iron.  I play a lot of golf too; however, I am down to 175+ rds from 200rds + a year.  I just took the pic below.  Not a photographer either

Huge Titleist fan and gamed the entire bag for close to 15 years. And I agree with the OP, Titleist needs to up their game with player irons. For the first time in forever I’m not gaming them in either my gamer bag or my backups that I play with once in awhile. Gamers are x5/x7 combo and fun backups are Mizuno pro 225s.

Went from original ap2s to ap3s to original t200s. Even tried the t100s but heads were too small. I’m sorry but I’ve refused to even try the most recent set of t200s due to the plastic backs. I feel Titleist went cheap and so I went in another direction for the first time in forever. Until they make a player iron with a solid back like the mizunos 225s and taylormade p790s, I’m just not going to give them my money. They should be able to figure it out. There’s been a ton of negative feedback on the t200 backs so hopefully Titleist has listened.

And believe me it kills me not playing Titleist irons after being a loyalist for like 15 years. Would love a forged player iron (perhaps a t100s that’s like 15-20% larger). Or just a hollow bodied iron that looks more like the Mizuno pro 225s would be a winner. When they do this, my 225s will be for sale:).

I agree. I’m a loyalist for titleist. Would love Titleist Verona if 225s.

I kinda liked that copper look on the soles. The darker colour on the 718 T-MBs was cooler than the lighter colour on the 716s, but I thought both were all right.

I thought the turf interaction was a great deal better tmb vs 712

as for hotmelt , putting a addi 105x tipped 2” required filling the tmb head with so much hot melt in the head it was oozing out of the port

The CNCPT 03 and 04 irons are hollow body irons that can be considered a evolution from TMB irons, they were a bit unpopular at the $500 per iron head price point but now they can be found at the $100 per iron price point.

Where can I get a set of CP-03’s at for $100 an iron? I’m in!

I’ve had 2 separate sets of the 718’s and also had the 716’s. Have you had a full set of them? I’ll agree with you the longer irons definitely do not show the wear as bad or as fast as the shorter irons. There are several threads on here talking about the wear. Like I said, not knocking them at all, heck I still play them.

Never had the short or mid-irons, only long irons.  I actually played 620 MBs 3-PW, and now T100s from 5i to PW.

going against the grain here, think the new t200s are awesome performers with solid feel/ feedback. sure you tap a ball against the back and it sounds funny but does that really matter? i play them 4-GW with 4/5/6 set a degree stronger than stock and the pw/gw a degree weaker than stock. i'm such a big fan that i've contemplated finding 716 or 718 TMBs in 3-PW as a backup set. this is b/c you can easily manipulate the lofts of the 716s or 718s in 3-PW to be very close (equal or w/in .5 degrees) to match the t200 4-GW and then offset #s are also nearly identical. Titleist is one of the only companies that makes a players distance iron with minimal offset in the short irons. spec out their 8-GW vs the competition and you'll see. visually the p790s don't hold a candle to the t200s at address, at least IMO

I can’t put t200 in the bag because of the back plate either I’m sorry.  They look and feel cheap.  I believe they’re working on new t100 cb and mb release in fall of 2023 so I guess big waiting game name as usual.  Also reading they’re testing new metals so who knows.

curious, have you tested the iron in a fitting or at all? no question when you tap a ball with the back of the  club, it makes a funny sound. but beyond that (at least  for me), the performance of the club coupled w/its look at address supersedes the back plate cosmetic.

Of course but for now I prefer the look, feel and performance I’ve been getting out of my PXG Gen 5 irons and they’re about to launch Gen 6 God help me.   Since I switched my handicap literally has dropped to single digits and I just keep taking my golf buddies money.  I tested extensively t100s and t200 against PXG but for me I was getting more that I wanted in terms of feel and performance w my PXG setup now.  Im not knocking Titleist.  Everything is personal preference here. 👍🏻Off center mishits especially I wasn’t getting as punished in terms of loss of distance as I was seeing w t200.  I am very curious however to see what Titleist launches I guess fall 23 to see what they do.  I’m really curious to see how they re launch their CB line which I played for many years as well.  The MB I doubt they’ll mess with but who knows.    I think it was this site somewhere mentioning that they’ve been experimenting w different steel now.  Not sure.

Just bring back an updated version of the t-mb’s and get rid of the two tone sole.

That's just a U500? I had one for the last 2 seasons and got along with it pretty well. I ditched it for the iCrossover because the PING has better ball speed AND forgiveness, but still, it's a solid DI

I switch between a T200 set and a set of P790/770.  The TM set definitely looks better and is a little bit longer than the T200s.  Don’t really care for the plastic backing of the T200s.

The new P790/770's are very nice clubs.  P770's I found very very close to my PXG's Gen 5's as far as feel and distance and might re visit soon a P770 p7MC combo.  It just kills me that I have to wait until Sept to even start to see anything new in hand coming from Titleist.  Lets go!!!!

We will get a look at the new T-Series sometime in July 2023.  The new P790s should be out around the same time.

Yeah they'll do all the "seeding" in July during the US Open but we won't have them in hand until Sept.  Long way off and Gen 6 launching very soon so who knows.  I wish they would break away with this 2 year/Fall window cycle their on and try to release now or soon so consumers can actually enjoy during a new season especially if you live in North East.  By time you get new irons in hand depending on where you live its the end of golf season for many.

Titleist releases in the Fall just ahead of the Christmas/Holiday Season.  The Ping release date around or just after the PGA Show makes better sense for golfers.

Tour “seeding” will most like be T100/T100S and the Utility Irons anyways.

just my take but t200's at address blow the p790's out of the water esp 4-6 and 9-GW. p770's certainly look better but for me at least during a lengthy outdoor grass fitting, the p770 didn't keep up with the t200. testing 6i's, the t200 was 9 yards longer in carry with a higher launch angle and 400 more rpms of spin despite being 1 degree stronger in loft than the p770, and this is w/ the exact same shaft.

now a set of 790/770  combos sounds intriguing, what's the lowest 770 iron being used, 7i?

I mostly use the P790s in the 4 to 9.  P770s in PW and AW.  I do have the P770s in 8 and 9 to swap out.

Tested t100s, cb and mb today. Been a while. Loved the look and feel.  Thinking of combo’ing 6-7 t100s, 8/9 cb and pw mb.  5 iron, can anyone recommend a cannon for me?   Easy to hit off deck, high launch bomber, forgiving long 5 iron I can bag?   Doesn’t have to be Titleist either.  I’m not putting t200 in this setup.   Was almost gonna tinker with a Taylormade 5 irons. Any thoughts on this setup?   Thanks
