Vice Pro: the pros and cons

Love the Vice balls, but this particular I could never seem to find on the course. It blended in everywhere! Even had a hard time finding it sitting on the green at certain angles, it just wasn't a color/sheen that I could see.

I'm old though, so you might have better vision for sure! It's really a frickin beautiful ball, just impossible (for me) to find on the course.

I'm hoping they work well on the dormant grass - pretty much everything except the greens here are brown

 

And, as old and cranky as I am, these things seem to speak to me. I'm not usually a bling guy but these look great

I played vice pro for a couple years, but got tired of chewing the covers up. I was having some of them not even last through a round, especially if I had to hit any bunker shots. If a box of Vice Pros was $20, I wouldn't care if I beat up a couple a round, but at full price that's not good enough. To be fair, I didn't play the 2023 model, so who knows if that's improved.

Durability has improved significantly.  The Pro and Pro Plus are virtually bullet proof now.  Unless you you constantly hit the ball thin or find trees and carts, they last for at least 2 rounds.

It's having performed well for me in the past, and based on ball tests, I just ordered three dozen of the Vice Pro Plus despite my 80-mph or so swing speed. Their Back Friday deals are pretty decent.

I ordered three dozen of the Pro Plus. One of the reasons I have hesitated to buy directly from them in the past is the fact that the balls come from Germany. Sure enough, my shipment is stalled in Cologne due to a FedEx "operational delay". Darn!

I got that update as well on the Fedex website when I ordered balls from them a few months back.  I was expecting it to take at least 2 weeks for them to arrive.  I was pleasantly surprised when it only took 5 days so don't worry.

Played with the Vice Pro in cold weather for the first time. Temp at tee time was in the 40s. Still felt pretty good for my 90-95ish driver swing speed, though a bit more firm than when it was in the 60s and 70s when I first started to use them. Also, they seem really durable - used one for over 36 holes and can't really see any issues with it. I'll use it until I lose it.

Earlier this year I switched from the ProV1 to the Maxfli and I liked them a lot.  Then I tried the Vice Pro and Pro Plus and haven't looked back.  I'm not a numbers and spin rate guru and I  go off of feel, ball flight, and spin off the shorter irons/wedges.

 

Good distance & distance control..........same to me as the ProV1 or Maxfli

 

Good feel.......I like feel of the Pro Plus a little more. Feels more solid.

 

Good spin off the short irons - chipping - pitching.

 

Very durable.

 

They cost about 1/2 of ProV1's at my local golf ball shop.

Those may be the 2016 ball. Walmart has had them for a while. Still a good deal though.
