Direct Force 2.1 on Tour

Why don't we see more of these? I actually don't ever recall seeing one at all. With the theory behind it I would have thought a lot of pro's would put it in the bag. Can't be looks alone as I really don't think they care. Look at some of the irons with lead tape all over them.

Pros get paid to play equipment. Adam Scott did have a DF is play before he moved to Mezz. Several other free agents have a Mezz.

I think there are more at different pro levels/tours but PGA so money driven guys probably stick with what they know and get paid for.

Video of a Korn Ferry player loving the DF 2.1. Only tour player I know of. Can’t remember who it was. Don’t think they need the forgiveness we need. I hit mine off the extreme toe and still goes to the hole. 😉

Over the years, the DF has been gamed by probably a dozen different pros. The size is definitely the biggest issue. They aren't a lot different than most rec golfers. They don't like getting made fun of and they don't like people thinking they need a "crutch" (even though it isn't). If they have a bad round or 2, the option is to stick it out with the spaceship or go back to what they know and got them there in the first place and they typically choose the latter. The Mezz and Link have been adopted by quite a few this last year and has a lot more staying power. The more conventional looks make it easier to weather a bad round. Money is a big factor 2. The VAST majority of tour pros are required to play a certain putter and its risky to mess with unproven technology if they may lose some sponsor money over it. Fortunately, this is starting to change and more and more guys are going to 12 club contracts giving us a little more opportunity. But the biggest reason it hasn't been as popular on tour as it has been out in the world is because these guys are MASTERS at manipulating torque. They built their techniques around torquing putters and they HATE hearing that they need to change anything about their approach to putting to accommodate new tech. Slowly but surely, the pure logic of our tech combined with quantifiable success from a few tour players is making it much more common for pros to give the tech a shot. Fingers crossed someone breaks through soon!

Great stuff. Thanks for the insight. Ryan Palmer seems to be putting much better with a LAB putter.

I’ll take anyone’s money as they make fun of my “old man” broomstick DF 2.1. Lol

What has really surprised me is that more of the pros for whom putting is a little bit of a weakness haven't gamed the LAB. Lexi Thompson comes to mind, but there are others.

I agree with this 100%.  I believe the technology and engineering in these putters can't be argued against.  I think a putter that will stay square by design should be better for anyone who tries it.  However, anyone who has ingrained a counteracting force in their hands from using a standard putter will have to adjust.  I'd bet a lot of people give up too soon on LAB because they hit a rough patch and go back to what the know, I'm guilty of it myself.

With that said, I keep thinking about a DF  broomstick or armlock.

I like the alignment lines! So far on my putting mat I’m having problems with pulls.  Being so used to a putter with toe hang I shut the face to square it.  If I can adjust to the Lab DF2.1 I will get identical sitelines put on.  It will be tough because for decades my subconscious mind forces the face closed to square it

The adjustment takes much less time than you would think. Just let the putter do its thing. Google, "thumbs off drill" to help accelerate the learn curve

Has anyone tried the DF 2.1 with the alignment line on top that is parallel to the face? Hard to explain why but it just seems to work, I have it on my Yes putter and it really helps me to square up the putter to my intended line. Rarely see that alignment option on any other putters.

I think that people aim the face MUCH more accurately than they think.

Mezz on order. I had a broomstick Mezz but could just not get along with the putting style.

Can’t wait for my Mezz. The online fitting was super simple and confirmed that I needed a very upright putter…a lie angle I’d never find anywhere else.

Let’s roll!!

What's the grip there on that armlock? Looks round which would be good... rough diameter?

My first DF 2.1 is incoming, will be 'normal' not Armlock... but the LAB way of matching shaft lean to your preferred ball position and setup would be interesting (I've used the arm lock grip  with a Cameron futura)

Is this your first arm lock?

It is, my golf buddies think I'm crazy for trying this as I've always been a pretty good putter. But the "armlock" method has always intrigued me as it seems like it would be simpler. And one of the guys at the club swears by the DF 2.1 putter. So I went to the website and watched the video and the theory explained so I figured why not.

This way I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Trying the armlock and the DF 2.1 at the same time.
