Recommended Posts

Mr Shortgame Golf has posted on his YouTube channel that Voice Caddie is coming out with a new launch monitor called the C4. There are very few details at the moment except for the price ,$550. Nothing on the website yet.

Its right at the start of the video. It looks pretty nice.

Hopefully way more accurate and user friendly than their current models which are terrible

I'm sure it's just a lightly refreshed and repackaged SC300i with a better screen.  Looks like it still requires the remote or manually changing the club being hit (see the W1/10.5* on the top of the screen).  The remote is just stupid.

Why is there a large empty black box area above the screen if it’s the same thing as previous models? Wonder what’s in it.

According to this video, new SC4 comes in at 550 dollars, with some simulation and no subscription.  Very interesting....

Simulation and no subscription could be huge. If the SC4 does not require special balls to be used like the Rapsodo MLM2 then I could see many going with this.

Taylor Made Stealth 2 + 5 wood

It's a doppler radar unit, with the the usual pros and cons of radar.  Any golf ball can be used.  The RCT balls might work well indoors with it.

This looks amazing! I'm guessing the range/sim software is the same as the Swing Caddie VSE?

The fact that I don't need a phone(phone battery is always dead), but then if I want more features I can- that is a pretty big game changer. Really looking forward to hearing what it can read now and what internally has improved.

Here is the info on the unit!- https://www.playbetter.com/blogs/golf/new-swing-caddie-sc4-golf-launch-monitor-from-voice-caddie

First of all, it measure the same six data points that really count:

Then the SC4 adds:

  • It has simulatior app integration for both iOS and Android. In simulator mode, the SC4 connects with the included MySwingCaddie app, providing a complete virtual display along with metrics and stats.
  • To further enhance the simulator experience, the SC4 is fully compatible with E6 Connect and its suite of photorealistic courses (optional subscription).
  • It comes with a Free Simulator Driving Range Demo.

----------------------------

  • Dimensions/Weight: 4.88” x 7.59” x 1.14” / 15.4oz
  • Color: Black
  • Display: 4.8" LCD

I really like this, could replace my PRGR with the spin rate addition at the RIGHT price point for me.

But how does it figure the spin rate? Does it need special balls like Rapsodo2 or another estimate?

How is the same thing as the previous models?  It's an entirely new model from what I can tell.  Some of the same metrics of course, plus new features.

Slightly off topic... sorry

I'm looking at launch monitors for the driving range or outdoors into a net only. I don't care about spin rates. Looking for relatively accurate carry distances. I've been looking at Mevo, PRGR, and SC300i. Seems like you guys on this post have some experience with these things. I looked at Rapsodo, but I have an Android phone. So that's not an option. Seems the SC300i is the way to go since it displays all the info without having to necessarily use a phone. That sound right to you guys? Thanks!

I used the SC300i this year. It is very easy to setup and it was pretty accurate(distance,Club Speed and Ball speed) for the most part. I used it both indoor and out. It will give you the basics. I enjoyed using it.

I just sold it to buy a Garmin R10. The main reason why I switched was I had originally wanted the R10 but they were sold out for along time and I get a major discount on Garmin products. I'm pretty impressed with the R10 so far.

I must say, the SC4 and the new Rapsodo look very nice!

They took the horizontal form factor of the SC300i, turned it vertical, and added a better screen.  The doppler radar array sits behind the black box above the screen - the black box is NOT another display/screen of some kind.

I hope this thing turns out to be good, but I have my doubts.  I owned an SC300 and was utterly unimpressed.  Too many missed shots (especially with wedges), the use of the unit with the remote was clunky, and the phone app was just terrible.  The customer support wasn't great either.

People should temper their expectations with Voice Caddie.  There's likely a reason why there were no demos of the unit at the PGA Show, or no information on it from the company or on its website....

Thank you! I'll look closer at the 300i and SC4.  I looked at the R10, and it looked fantastic, but I believe it requires a subscription if I'm not mistaken? I'm looking for a simple plug and play option. Unfortunately Rapsodo doesn't work with Android, which is all I use.

Well I hope they add a better radar in addition to the better screen.  I cant stand messing around with my phone while I practice which is why I'm interested in this device.

The unit is larger than the previous gens. I'm guessing the dedicated area higher up for the doppler radar will help with spin reads and just generally better reading of the ball.

One of the biggest draws for the Sc300 is how incredibly fast it is to setup compared to the R10. Power on, pick club and go. Fiddling with the R10 can get annoying especially trying to constantly clip my phone to the bag, then detach it to read data (have to take glove off each time to work with phone.)

Keeping the phone as just an option with the SwingCaddie is great.

I do agree sometimes the unit wouldn't read or get some wild numbers. Fingers crossed

You don’t need a subscription with the R10, that’s just for simulation.

All the metrics are included for free with the R10.
