It's rare that I work on a Monday but here I am. Myself and the rest of staff are on duty to make sure 150 golfers have a fine day on the links. The Chef and his crew will be putting out some tasty food for our Labor Day Cookout that begins at 3 PM. 

This is my final push to the end of my workweek. Tomorrow and Wednesday I will be playing golf.

I can't wait.

It certainly isn’t for everyone that is for sure.  I can’t just turn it on and read, for example.  In fact, I don’t listen to them often anymore.  I have become much slower in my older years, but there times when I really enjoy it now.

Wow, there's no words for that either, there is widow, widower, orphan but none for loss of child. Feel for you on that. Everything about the life cycles is too darn fast. You raise a house for years, decades and then spend a decade burying those around your circle who got you there. Last 10 years of my life were '''good'' but for most of it was time to shepherd loved ones to move on. My mom is still around, but my dad, my beloved in-laws. Friends? Many gone too early there too. 

 

Big reason I indulge (too much) in this game is related to that. My Dad died because work was all he was. He was great at it too but time came, he had nothing but a worn-down body and soul, so retirement was a time of waiting to die. He was a generous spirit but not to himself. He always said about games and sports that they were stupid and pointless. Much of his life enforced that view but it was not a truth that needed to be forever held. I work near as hard but I still play and do ''stupid things''. Will till I cannot too.

... Pretty crazy but also one of the reason I really dislike Golf publications that have turned into TMZ and the NY Post rolled into one. Headlines like "Pro loses playoff after bizarre driver snap on way to tee". Turns out Van Dam hit 3 wood off the tee and missed a 10 foot eagle putt to lose the playoff because her opponent made her 10 foot eagle putt, and the driver had zero to do with it. I don't know why they can't have a headline in my inbox like "Exciting Walker Cup Finish!" instead of America Wins Walker Cup" about 1 minute after the last putt drops. 

... I just don't click on any of the "interesting" golf stories anymore because they are never interesting, just click bait.

No I have not raced in 23 years now---- I agree with Dale on that one 110%. Most of us guys raced with each other on a weekly basis and you knew who you could trust and who you could not. On the highway you have too many no driving SOBs to put it bluntly. And these days on the highway you do not know who is drunk, pilled up or high on Ganja or has their head up their you know what

I forgot how much I hate painting exterior millwork. 2 coats of primer (all 6 sides), scuff, 2 coats of paint 

 

Got scaffolding moved at home, put up 8 courses of siding.  So much work by yourself. So much done, so much left to do. 

How I removed the old porch. 😆
